    That is so awesome, I stumbled across this product and it's impressive. Very good tutorial! Just going to share something I recently learned. I've been using Acks abrasive paste and polish on my wood lathe projects. I did a cedar platter and wanted the old school heavy gloss. It turned out a touch bit bumpy, so I used the acks abrasive paste which is like a cream with an ultra fine abrasive in it a now it has a perfectly slick glossy finish. There's a lot of wood turners with coupon codes for it as well, it'd really make that finish "pop". Thanks again for the awesome video, I'm going to try it on a bowl, should be impressive!

    • @TheArtChick

      Thank you for sharing that. I loved the old school gloss. I will have to check that out. I haven't heard of it. I'm trying to think about if you do it before Unicorn spit then you will still need a oil base coat - if you do it after will it come off with the abrasive paste?

    I have all the stuff: just needed to see “how”
    I know this is a late question- but can you do unicorn spit on glass? & how? How would you seal it? How if it’s drinking cups, non-toxic.
    Thanks so much

    • @TheArtChick
      @TheArtChick  2 года назад

      Glad to help. With the glass question the way you would have to seal it would be not ideal for drinking cups. That I have found so far. I think you could do the wine glass stems. Other than that I would (for glass) look for a specific paint to bake that is for drinking glasses.

    • @TheArtChick
      @TheArtChick  2 года назад +3

      Hi , that would depend more on what you use for the top coat. It would have to be a few top coats and something strong made for countertops. I have used oil based poly for my picnic table for one and the other was Totalboat top coat. An epoxy would work too.

    I am new to learning this, you used a seal spray & a wax? Do you have to use both? And whats the difference?

    • @TheArtChick
      @TheArtChick  2 года назад +1

      Hi, I didn't use a wax it was a spray sealer then a top coat gloss varnish. You have to spray seal or use an oil based sealer. Using the spray first allows me to use a waterbased varnish. If I just used the waterbased first then it would reactivate the spit and ruin the project. Basically water on water isn't good .

    • @TheArtChick

    Hi, I just discovered this art technique of burning the wood and using Unicorn Spit. Your work is beautiful! I have a question: I've seen other videos where the wood is charred black and then scraped off with a wire brush. What would be the benefit of doing that technique as opposed to just burning the wood until it shows the grain as you do?

    • @TheArtChick
      @TheArtChick  Год назад

      I feel like the charred burn way is just too much work? I wouldn't do it that way. Maybe though it is a way to get an even burn because you sand it? Not quite sure

      @@TheArtChick Thank you. I agree, the charred burn is a lot of work.

    Hello, first, thank you for your videos! I might need some help- I am a newbie with any of this but very very enthusiastic to renovate an old drawer. I have two ideas: 1st is to mix colours to get a nature green/nature/woods,bushes,plains vibe to it. Which colors to use? 2nd is a sunset- made only with unicorn spit and wood grain. Again, which colors and can you make a video? ;)

    • @TheArtChick
      @TheArtChick  2 года назад

      Hi, I am so glad you want to get creative. For the drawer after sanding I would recommend Blue thunder, Dragons belly and lemon kiss I would use lemon kiss (yellow) for a mix into the others. If you only want to get 2 leave this one out. *but will be needed for the sunset. I think the 2 Blue thunder, Dragons belly would be so good together for the look you want. If you want brown and the drawer is brown leave some spots for it to show through. If you use oil base (which is recommended) it does have a yellow tint which will enhance the more green look and help. / With the sunset - lemon kiss and Molly red pepper , (phoenix fire if you want) otherwise mix red/yellow) I can try to make something with a sunset. It just might be a week or so. You can order here when you are ready: www.michellenicoles.com/?rfsn=3790263.1b4a32

    • @TheArtChick
      @TheArtChick  2 года назад

      you can try it but it won't be quite the same. The blending and ability to be watered down and still look good. It is meant for wood stain and so it will be the best. I'd say it's perfectly ok for practice to use paint but to only try techniques.
