- "The Jamaica Mistaica" was an incident that involved Jimmy Buffett, Bono, and the Jamaican police who mistook Buffett's seaplane for one belonging to drug smugglers. The plane is now on permanent display in front of Margaritaville at Universal Orlando's Citywalk.

Got to get inside of it many years ago, went out on the apron at the airport where it was sitting, to take pics with it. Instead of kicking us off the tarmac, one of the pilots opened it up so we could go inside and see it for a minute. I am so shattered Jimmy has died. End of an era for me.
We were just there for HHN32, pregaming with Joe at the Lone Palm Airport almost every day! Lovely to just sit there, remenisce about JB, and enjoy a beverage.

I saw the plane in December 2020 on a visit there. The restaurant and the bar weren't very busy since a lot of people were staying away due to the pandemic. It is very cool that a real airplane the Jimmy Buffett actually flew is there on display! This another great thing to keep Jimmy's legacy alive!
Have visited the Lone Palm Airport Bar multiple times for a Red Stripe beer and to walk around the Hemisphere Dancer. I remember driving to work and hearing Jamaica Mistakea on the radio for the first time, afterward the DJ told the story behind the song. I also remember preparing to leave for a trip to Mackinac Island in the summer of 1990, watching a morning show and seeing a seaplane upside down in the water off the Atlantic Coast. Then they posted a picture of Jimmy Buffett and my heart sank. Then they said he was OK. I read later that he got out of the plane and swam to a nearby boat, was sitting in the boat and another boat came by and asked about the pilot (Jimmy), and someone, maybe JB replied I don't think he made it.
