    these have a back charge feature that keeps the start battery charged too

      You’re very right, and it’s one of few to be able to do that. It’s a bit of an advantage for long camps.

    I installed the charger and all the connections are good. When I start the car, the power light is on, but the charging light is blinking. Is there an error in the installation?

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  8 месяцев назад

      The charging light blinking means it’s charging. When it’s solid it’s fully charged.

      @@Keithy_W thanks bro cuz i was think i have a problem ...i want ask you if i dont use a fuse from the charger to auxility battery its ok?

    • @Keithy_W

      My pleasure mate 👍🏻
      You should use a fuse. If there is a short between the battery and the charger it will spark and could cause a fire.

    After turning on and charging, I noticed that the device disconnects for a few seconds and then turns on again. This process is repeated approximately every 3 or 5 minutes. Is this normal? Also, the device has a very high temperature, but it is working properly.

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  8 месяцев назад

      It’s quite possible that the charger is overheating. This could be the reason that it stops/starts. If it’s working, that’s very good to see the safety cutouts are working.
      Is the charger installed in a hot area (such as the engine bay?).

      @@Keithy_W The device does not stop, but stops charging for a second, then charges for two minutes, then turns off for a second, and the same thing happens again. It is installed inside the car at the back. Our temperature in Kuwait is currently 17 degrees Celsius, and for your information, the spare battery was charged at a tremendous and beautiful speed, but there was doubt about the issue of stopping for a second. The voltage goes down and then goes up for a second. Every two minutes, the same thing happens again.

      It’s hard to say what’s happening given that I’m not there mate. I can only speculate. Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer for answers to the questions. They can point you in the right direction.
      It’s possible that the battery is fully charged, and is just float charging to maintain the top charge.

      that is proper operation with well designed DCDC chargers, redarc does this every 100 seconds, enerdrive does it every 3-5 minutes. some DCDC chargers will omit this feature if it has a ignition input is utilised
      it is used to mitigate the issues of minor voltage drops from the alternator feed. it will stop drawing current to measure the starter battery voltage accurately as measuring it while its trying to draw full 40A of current will cause a voltage drop even if the cable is sufficient.
      this is a great feature especially if its connected to in a camper trailer as trying to get no voltage drop over a 12-15m return run would need cables so large its not practical and expensive. Only disadvantage is that it will continue to charge for that specified time after you turn the car off, which you can also mitigate by using a isolator aswell.

    What you showed was a solar controller

    • @Keithy_W
      @Keithy_W  8 месяцев назад

      It gets fed via the vehicles alternator and the solar panels on the roof rack. If it were solar alone, I would agree with you, however, this is a dual battery charging system.
