Maybe you can tell me how the poor are being treated the same as the Brethren in the church? Do they get a 6 figure living stipend? Do they get great insurance? "26 And the priests were not to depend upon the people for their support; but for their labor they were to receive the grace of God, that they might wax strong in the Spirit, having the knowledge of God, that they might teach with power and authority from God. 27 And again Alma commanded that the people of the church should impart of their substance, every one according to that which he had; if he have more abundantly he should impart more abundantly; and of him that had but little, but little should be required; and to him that had not should be given. 28 And thus they should impart of their substance of their own free will and good desires towards God, and to those priests that stood in need, yea, and to every needy, naked soul. 29 And this he said unto them, having been commanded of God; and they did walk uprightly before God, imparting to one another both temporally and spiritually according to their needs and their wants." It’s the parent’s responsibility to teach their own children and bring them up in righteousness yet they did not. A quick look around is an obvious example.
The individual tells the teacher, the teacher tells the Bishop. If the Bishop teaches false doctrine, the member goes up the so called chain of command to Stake Prez etc
We as individuals are responsible to say something when a teacher says something that is not doctrine. But I also think it falls to priesthood leadership. If I say something that isn't true I hope a member of my class would question me.
I think when some on Sunday School or Priesthood say something that may be interpreted as false doctrine, it’s our own obligation to verify what is actually true in our own private study of the Gospel. I wouldn’t call them out in class but I may raise my hand and offer my explanation of the gospel doctrinal issue in the way I believe it to be correct without denigration of anything the other person said.
The nemenhah records are a greater read. Thankyou to the native Americans for releasing them. So much more about the book of Mormon, temple covenants, the holy ghost and women/heavenly mother
I think many are afraid to correct false teachings/doctrine (as to not offend the offender), maybe sometimes it's insecurity of possibly not knowing with certainty. So, many that could correct don't because they don't want to correct and possibly offend because they themselves are not certain, at the peril of truthful teaching/learning. I've been in situations where I knew what was being shared was not 100% accurate/correct (by the Spirit, and I wasn't sure of the correct answer) and the Spirit indicated something was off, the presiding authority in the meeting handled it, but the Spirit is a great indicator if something isn't quite right and/or especially false. Too many people shy away from confrontation, and will go along to get along, people need to remember that one should not take offense if none was intended, and being corrected isn't an attack, it's an opportunity for truth to be shared/taught.
False doctrine- I usually ask for clarification and say I don’t understand the context or concept. I’m not so smart as to think I can point out false information. I rather they and all of us in class figure it out by looking it up in scripture
That's a kind way to do it. When I am leading a discussion, One of the first things I do is to invite anyone to correct me if I say something that is not correct. I believe that we receive our callings as an opportunity to help us grow; and then we all grow by discussing the Gospel of Jesus Christ together. I think if its in a sacrament meeting that the Bishopric is responsible to correct a false teaching. Once we had a member of the Bishopric come into our second hour class to correct something that was said in sacrament meeting.
Him telling them that alone about the murder doesn’t prove anything because he could’ve connspired with the murderer and then went and sid it was a prophesy.
Don’t be naive…Utah wants a nice King. They don’t look further than nice words to see the real state of affairs in Utah. Trust our leaders and look away. That is a King mentality that will lead to a hard fall. We have very little left of that republic of which you speak. I encourage you to believe the BofM which saw our day. It is now.
Interesting take, Nextstep. I am definitely alarmed at what I am seeing in Utah. It seems like there are many who are so unaware of how ugly the world can be, and are so concerned with acting nice, that they don't recognize the dangers flooding in. -Rusty
What are the signs of a corrupt government? Some signs are voting for the communist Democrat party and the constant in your face Pride 🏳️🌈 movement. President Benson called it out but too many are blind to the truth. It is the day of separation. Thanks for watching! Totally agree with you, where possible. I'm not sure about your experience, but sometimes people think that if the current prophet hasn't addressed a subject, then there is no authoritative stance on it. For example... emergency preparedness - “Some Church members opine that emergency plans and supplies, food storage, and 72-hour kits must not be important anymore because the Brethren have not spoken recently and extensively about these and related topics in general conference. But repeated admonitions to prepare have been proclaimed by leaders of the Church for decades. The consistency of prophetic counsel over time creates a powerful concert of clarity and a warning volume far louder than solo performances can ever produce.” - Elder Bednar, GC, October 2020 “We Will Prove Them Herewith” I run into some people who if you even mention President Benson or Elder McConkie they basically roll their eyes and dismiss whatever they said. So, if a prophet hasn't said something on a topic recently, they act like their own interpretation is better than a past prophet. (Yes, we're familiar with the 14 points of following a prophet talk).
Correct. That’s the only way to learn the truth and not just want anti’s cherry pick. The Lord’s hand is amazingly apparent in the restoration of His true Church.
Fair question! There are interesting theories out there about locations but honestly, we really don't worry too much about it.
