      Honestly, it's so redundant to rearrange your picking hand technique so much for volume swells. Just get a volume pedal. Mark Knopfler is a good example of how the volume pedal is so versatile. Just listen to 'Brothers In Arms' or 'Lions' from his time in Dire Straits.

    I've never driven in a Yugo or a Rolls either but I DO have Vibratone and several really good Leslie simulators...none can capture what really happens when a speaker is spinning in front of you. A Yugo will get you from Point A to B, but when you arrive in a Rolls Royce, you're smiling because that ride was spectacular.

    Those tempted by this video should note that many of the two-keyboard console organs you often see offered for sale cheap or even "free to a good home" ("Must pick up") come with a rotating speaker baffle virtually identical to a Vibratone. I'm on my second one. They sound wonderful.
    The caveats:
    - you'll have to make your own cabinet and speed-changing footswitch
    - unlike an actual Leslie, they have no associated amplifier; you'll need to power them like an extension speaker
    - although they can be made to operate on the horizontal plane, they are designed to rotate vertically, and perform better that way (faster ramp-up/down)
    - the units coming in console organs generally have a 20W 8" full range speaker; if you want more power, you'll need to make a different cab/assembly to accommodate a larger speaker
    - you'll have to extricate the rotating baffle assembly from the organ and figure out what to do with "the carcass"
    But within those considerations, you'll still be glad you put in the extra effort.

    • @davidkennedy4845
      @davidkennedy4845 Год назад +1

      Console organs have the two 61 note keyboards and 25 note pedalboard. Many spinet organs also have Leslies in them. A spinet organ has the smaller 44 or 49 note keyboards. Some are single speed but many are two speed that is have the two motors to achieve the different speed. The spinets are easier to move as they are much lighter than a console organ. Console organs are very heavy around 200kg and bulky.

    • @davidkennedy4845
      @davidkennedy4845 Год назад +1

      What you find in an organ is a compromise on space, so they set them up on a horizontal axis. It is worth the effort to set them spinning on a vertical axis.

I powered it up on for a second to see if the motor ran, it did. I then wanted to hook it up, since I’d never seen one before I was at a lost. I searched the internet and couldn’t find a thing.
