    Nice run of the awesome DT-03! I started out with a sports tuned and gradually worked my way up to a 3900kv brushless. That really woke it up.😂The understeer is inherent in the design. You can minimize it with softer front and stiffer rear shocks. Adding some weight to the frontend helps too.👍

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  2 года назад +1

      Thanks mate! Haha yeah a 3900 would really wake it up😁. I agree I think some shock tweaking and a little front end weight would help. 👍

    Hi Mick! Yeah, at that location it could need a bit more power. The front tires on the Racing Fighter is a good option. They should bite more into that dirt. Best wishes. Great footage! Loved the slo mo jumps.

      They're a great buggy mate, I'm sure you'll love it. I've recently seen them going for very cheap which is awesome to see. I wasn't so lucky and paid about double for mine when I bought them 😭but even so I think they're great value for money. 👍

    I agree that the tires are the cause of the understeer. Great run!

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  2 года назад +1

      I'm sure some decent front tyres will be a great starting point, for sure. As others have mentioned, some weight in the front might help too. For me it's not a huge issue but it's noticeable. I will change the tyres and a few things with the suspension and get it out there again. Maybe it will be helpful to other folks out there with the DT-03. 👍

    I like this little buggy and I dropped in an ounce of tire balance weights in the very front of the chassis and it will help with the steering, especially if you plan on bumping up the power! It is a nice fun one to just take out and run!

      I agree James, great buggy! I'll give it some more runs and do a few tweaks and see how it goes. This surface is never too great for 2wd's at the best of times. Over all I think it runs quite nicely, especially for an entry level beast. 👍

      Glad you enjoyed it mate. It does jump quite well, I was surprised. I'm now thinking only a low Kv brushless setup might be enough or even say a 20t brushed motor. I noticed it gets a little light in the front under power. Thanks mate! 👍

  • @madsrcbuggy
    @madsrcbuggy 2 года назад +1

    Oh, man, it flies great, lovely jumps! I never jumped mine that far... Mine mostly jumps like a sack of potatoes...
    I got 60g brass in the front of mine, helps on the understeer, but might be the reason it jumps badly, ha ha!
    I could invite you in the DT group on Facebook, it's got loads of info, you can't refuse/resist, see, that's the Sepultura reference also taken care of there...

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  2 года назад

      It really does fly great, looks right at home in the air! Haha, if I'd used my own jumps I wouldn't be going so high but with these jumps already there I just can't help myself 😂
      I think a little weight in the front will help too. Haha yeah, maybe 40-50g might be the sweet spot for both steering and jumping 🤷‍♂. It's always fun experimenting.
      Lol, great Sepultura reference I'll check it out mate. Thanks! 👍

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  2 года назад +1

      Oh nice! On the plus side, you get to choose which motor and shocks to use. Should be a great buggy once you've got it all finished. I feel your pain! I'm not even really sure I fractured mine, I would say so though as it's been about 6 weeks and still pretty tender. Every time I think it's ok I bend or move some way and "D'Oh! There it is!" and yeah sitting isn't fun at all. I find the car seat to be the worst, I got half way to work a few days ago and turned around. Thanks mate! Good luck with your DT-03 project. 👍

      @@RCHobbyShed Yeah like you, I think I should get a brushless combo, I've had a couple of DT02s, and I think a 4000kv would work nice. I am thinking the Tamiya DF03 alloy dampers, although expensive, would be the go. Get a donut cushion to sit on, that will help while you're recovering. Take care

    I just put together one of these. Nice little buggy..I think I went overboard with hop up parts with all the metal suspension arms etc. So much slop still. I don't think this buggy is worth spending too much on hop ups, just a fun buggy for bashing. I'm running the super stock BZ motor on 2s and 17T. It stays cool and fast enough for now.

    • @bradkalman2353
      @bradkalman2353 2 года назад +1

      @@RCHobbyShed yes it is the car the first run the front gearbox started making clicking noises and it was like slipping the career got gearbox is fine and then couple of weeks ago almost the gearbox got in the rear chewed up and the pinion didn't even fall off the motor or the shaft so I'm on the way of getting more gears and I'm going up to a 15 tooth because I ran a 13 tooth in it originally and I don't know how it was set up properly in the rear to hold the motor I don't know what could have happened but the motor on the castle system is kind of on the long side so I thought a 15 tooth would not give me as much torque to tear them up but will give me a higher top end so I don't know what I should do I don't know how to go about getting a 4000 surpass system to put in it because I see people running 4000 in these cars all the time I mean pretty much two wheels and four-wheel drive Tamiyas just fine.

    • @RCHobbyShed
      @RCHobbyShed  2 года назад

      That's a tricky one to diagnose over the internet lol. I'm thinking the 4600 might just be too much for it. I personally wouldn't go too nuts with a brushless system on any of the Hotshot family chassis as the suspension arms are very weak on them and the gearboxes aren't very strong either. I haven't looked into the specs but at a guess I would say the Castle system has a lot more torque than the Surpass system and I think that would still be the case even if they were the same Kv rating. If it was me mate, I'd put the 4600 in something stronger, maybe a newer style chassis built for brushless and go for say a 2500-3500 (17.5t-13.5t) or so in the Super Hotshot if it must be brushless. I really think with a 4000-4600 motor in it you're just gonna end up throwing money at it all the time to keep it running. Hope this helps mate! 👍
