    Thrice-Damned Curiosity cost us an entire campaign when he was the last man standing in City of Archives. Haunted memory of this card.

    Our flavor with Harvey and Thrice Damned Curiously is he eats the glowing thing in his hand which makes him sick, which is why it's damage.

    I love that, even on cards where you agree that it's your least favorite, you potentially have different rationales.

    Potential fix for Relentless: what if it simply immediately gave you resources equal to the excess damage dealt (and stayed in play), rather than requiring the delayed gain via the awkward damage tokens and discard.

    I think ineffable truth can find a serviceable home in Jim, since it’s less likely to take the penalty. He sucks at evasion after all.

      So you will stop to investigate or fight, using the arcane slot for fleeing?

    • @Halcyon00
      @Halcyon00 3 года назад +3

      @@MatheusVenti Unlike the other evade options, this one does damage. As far as I’m aware, it’s pretty common for Jim to pack some weapons, and in the cases of bosses, you probably won’t be bursting them down instantly anyways.
      1 damage sets up most weapons to smoothly kill most 3hp enemies, and buy yourself time to do other things if needed.
      Using the previous logic, 2 damage is even better, dealing with a lot of the enemies by late campaign (again, not bosses). Losing 1 extra resource for another damage isn’t all that terrible in my eyes.
      This this all comes down to the situations you actually want to be evading of course, rather than just put everything into attacking and hoping everything dies instantly.
      Not suggesting it be the first upgrade of course. Just some theorizing is all.

      @@Halcyon00 Well, it can be very useful against bosses, doing damage and exhausting at the same time, i give you that. But the exp cost is really high. Anyway, everything is possible with double Arcane Research! lol

      @Halcyon00 3 года назад +1

      @@MatheusVenti Arcane research + Delve too deep kinda solves most xp problems tbh.
      Another point towards using ineffible truth feels like you’re getting somewhere with the enemy, rather than feeling bad about not damaging it.
      Also since I wasn’t very clear, I was referring to the 3stages of ineffible truth, and not specifically the lv5 version.

    • @markusschmidt9260

      The reason, why this is bad is imho, that the situation when you want to evade and deal damage are normally limited to bosses, who deal a lot of damage and take a few rounds to defeat. In almost any other circumstances, you rather want to evade preferably not hunting enemies on locations, you want to go away afterwards. That's why the bonus of Mists is so much better. Ineffable Truth gets even worse with enemies, you don't want to kill, like snakes with vengeance or cultists in some TCU scenarios, because unlike with the move from Mist, the "bonus damage" is not even optional!

    Play Relentless in a Yorick Gunslinger deck, this plus Schofner’s covers your money costs.

    I love the idea of having the option to swap out Doomed or another bad weakness for Overzealous, we might introduce that rule to our table. Thanks Bryn!

    I once put Relentless into William Yorick deck so I can play it without action. Turn out Yorick have too much assets need to play before Relentless.
    I once play a Rex deck that just committed The Necronomicon to testes and Scavenging it in the next test.

    Oops! is so insultingly bad, It's so situational, if you compare it to lucky, they both require you to fail by 2 or less. Lucky can be on any test ever, Oops must be on an attack, and only on enemies that are engaged with you, whilst there's a 2nd enemy at your location. Lucky is cheaper to play costing 1 instead of 2. So surely Oops must have the more powerful effect? No, Oops lets you redirect your damage to the 2nd enemy, whilst Lucky has the damage go to the enemy you actually wanted to damage!

      To be fair, while Oops! is a bad card, this is comparing it to one of the very best cards of the game. So no wonder, that it stinks.

    Relentless looked interesting in a Mark Harrigan deck as it also gives draws ... but indeed you shouldn't have to exhaust it.
    For me Thrice-damned curiosity is simply the worst personal weakness ! And it's a pre-constructed deck that incites you to have a massive hand. Really weird idea from the designers.
    Lonnie Ritter is amazing ! Almost to the point to make of Tony a better fighter than Mark.
    Cherished keepsake (1) and Leather coat (1) have an interest in a Preston deck: put 3 damages / horror on it, discard it with Joey (3) for 2 resources and then play it from your discard with Scavenging (2).

    Relentless could have been a 0xp permanent with a free action to pull resources from it and it would still be just okay.

    I think you guys are really doing oops dirty. I did a full forgotten age playthrough with stella and oops was an amazing part of my Damage. Oops synergizes sooo much better than lucky. Lucky is a generic "I dont want to fail right now" card, reasonable for a normal red character living on the edge. Oops is tons of free damage. Do an attack with chainsaw, fail on purpose, oops 3 damage, Live and learn 3 damage. Now you have done 6 damage without spending any ammo; and because you let the fail happen stella got another action for free + activated rabbits foot. (Personally I had a lucky in the deck and used it mostly to help other investigators, and occasionally to make up for double quick learner really fucking me up first action when I rarely needed to succeed)
    I think if you are deciding the "least favorite starter deck cards" you should be thinking about them in the context they are meant for, in the starter deck. Otherwise you might as well as all say boxing glove is the worst blue starter deck card because for other investigators its a terrible use of hand slots.

      Upgraded Oops is a nice card, the level 0 Oops is just way too situational for me and I've had it be dead a lot more often than alive when I've played with it.
      And with Boxing Gloves, it's probably my second least favourite Guardian card because of how niche it is currently. Of course it can improve, but right now it doesn't interest me outside of Nathaniel Cho.

    Justin, can you please tell me the font you use that matches the card game? Every time I search for it I find Birmingham, which is the font for the board game, NOT the LCG. Thanks!
