Ive been farming merchant ship and looting the alcohol (brandy specifically) commodities on the main trade route. I then sell them at the necropolis fast travel point cause one them sells for like 350 silver minimum. In less then 30 minutes of farming i can get anywhere from 30000 to 35000. You can reset the merchant ship spawns by entering and exiting the nearby pirates den. Idk if its "better" silver method, but just another option that i found useful
perfect timing as i just spent almost all my silver that i had buying the brig ship blue print. I had actually randomly found that area just sailing around but did not realize it responds that quickly. Can't wait to grind that tonight. Thanks
Thanks for helping out. I knew that there had to be a better way for getting ammo and stuff because I use several different types of ammo on my ship. And the only thing that you get a lot of it seems is cannonball ammo but I use bombard torpedoes and ballista and I also use the oil barrels as well. So I was constantly running out of ammo and never being able to farm enough material in order to make all the ammo back. I was finding myself farming more than I was playing the game which sucked
But is it better than the commodity matchmaking farm? This is where (currently you go to dutchman's camp, find the rogue trader buy any paintings, gin, wine, and brandy, then log off to the main menu. From there wait 30 - 45 seconds then log back in ... should matchmake to a new server. Repeat this until cargo is full or until your silver would not allow you to fast travel if you bought more. Note: Snow has the largest cargo. Then fast travel to kaa mangrove and sell the commodities there.) you can make 100,000 + silver in an hour if you have the silver to buy enough commodities and get lucky with decent buy times where you have more than 1 of those 4 commodities. This is where a lot of people are making there silver (to the point that sometimes you will even find more than 1 person going to this trader when you are doing it.)
However that method isn't all that valid later on. Each place you take over from the Helm missions end up costing 800 to 1400 silver to fund them so they can generate pieces of eight for an hour. If you have 10 outposts it's close if not over 10 000 silver an hour. Hopefully they balance out silver income/cost for those, otherwise the game becomes a fulltime job to earn enough silver to fund. Just the Red Isles have 18 outposts, Coast of Africa has 15 I saw so far, East Indies have 28. So "to rule the seas" you'll need to warn a minimum of 60k silver an hour. (Do let me know if it's just me missing something)
They are 2 very different games. SoT is a first person adventure game and S&B plays a lot more like World of Warships mixed with New World. I like both games for different reasons
