EXCELLENT!!!!!! I kinda learned what you explained on my own through the process of trial and a whole lot of error. I wish all cutting tutorials were this well explained and easy to follow.
You are incredible. I have searched for self help hair videos for quite some time, thank god I came across yours. I first watched your video on how to remove bulk from side fringe and I was soo impressed that I decided to review more of your videos. Your amazing. A true life savor for someone like me who does not have the time, money, or trust for constant salons. My side fringe and upkeep look great now because of you! ♡♡♡♡
Sharon Girl Me too! I used one of Sam’s tutorials to do some damage control on my bangs a few months ago🤣 Now I’m ready to shape. The third cut he did is exactly what I’m looking for! I’m not a hair stylist but I love this channel💙
I’ve been watching so many haircut tutorials because I’m starting a hair stylist apprenticeship once I leave school to sought of “prepare” myself, I can’t wait 😁
OMG, your teaching and explanation is very understandable and easy to follow. It really helps those who lose job can earn living or do own bangs. Many Thanks, u so kind.
I am always impressed with the artist that taught me a lot about cutting. Amazed with the knowledge and diversity of cutting not just a fringe but overall haircutting period. Love watching Andrew work, one of the best in my book.
I really like the Sam Villa videos! I ordered the shears today. I’m good with cutting my own bangs, and want to graduate to this asymmetric, angular style. Thanks again!
@Em is spot on! Usually, the hair at the very top of the head isn't really adding density to the ends when you have fine hair so adding an it of layering to the very upper surface should give you something to add some fullness without compromising the density on the ends.
Thank you! I’ve never been to school to cut hair and I just cut my bangs better than any stylist I’ve ever been to in my life thanks to you! Why do stylists not learn these things?
Thank you! I’m not at all a hair stylist and I just cut my own bangs better than any stylist ever has thanks to you! I don’t understand how people who go to school for this stuff don’t know this info. I shouldn’t be able to cut my own hair better than a certified beautician.
Cosmetology school teaches you the bare minimum to pass state boards and gives you a basic understanding of hair cutting and color. It’s up to the stylist to continue educating themselves after passing boards by going to continued education classes and finding out what techniques work best for them.
Agreed with anna. I'm currently attending Paul Mitchell, and while I'm still near the beginning, we haven't been taught this. I've asked my learning leader how to cut side bangs and she totally showed me, it was simply just different than this and I think this way is great for doing a great job every time. Love these videos!
Lady Fervor this video IS FOR PROFESSIONALS. You get what you pay for. Anyone can learn to cut their own bangs. Don’t be condescending to pros. It’s an art. Some good , some paid barely above min. Wage. Be kind
Thank you for this video! I just cutted my fringe using your method, and it turned out so great, the 3 method i couldnt really do, but with the 2nd its perfect. Thanks
So this woman will see only with her one eye - at work, at the wheel, at shopping, ... basically the modern tediously cut and overexplained bang will fall into her face and cover completely on of her eye. Perfect, awesome!
How far back did the part go also was it from corner to corner of the eyebrows or just the middle point of eyebrows/pupil? Such a helpful guide 😁 i want something like this soft with a bob🤩🌟 i love the recommendations.
Excellent demonstration next time wear a lighter colored shirt so we can see the hair ...the background clothing blended in with the hair color. Thank you.
We definitely cut wet and dry... just depends on the technique. Because this channel is mainly for quick tips and tricks, usually the hair is dry for timing. If you go to samvilla.com we have full length haircuts that show the wet cut all the way through to dry finishing. We almost always cut fringe (or bangs) dry so that we can see the natural growth patterns and we know we can nail the length without fear it will shrink as it dries.
Oh dang! Thanks for getting back to me. Can you recommend a stylist??? I’m living in a new, relatively small, city and I’m not loving the vibe. I’ve asked people I’ve seen with good cuts, but I’m still hesitant... I can pm my zip code????
Should have shown this video to the salon that apparently gave me what I asked for (which was this a side swept fringe) instead I have a way too short fringe that looks a total mess x
Sorry for the delay on the question. The Reversible Blending shear removes more hair and is awesome for both texturizing work and even removing length. The Invisiblend is very very soft in it's removal so it's best fore removing weight and softening lines. Our Black Friday sale starts in a few days... both shears will be 45% off! Good timing :-)
because there is so much overdirection, the tooth direction won't make as much of a difference in this case. When working with the blending shear in this way to create an actual cutting line, you will want to keep the solid blade on the bottom which makes it much easier to cut the line efficiently... if the teeth are up, the hair stays stuck between the teeth and you have to continually remove the shear and place it back into the hair. Thats a little hard to explain but try both and you will see what I mean :-)
I have a question I have baby fine hair and I haven't cut it in like four and a half years and it's a bit damaged & longer than I can deal with my question is if I have baby fine hair should I put layers in my hair or just leave it long to the length I want
by the way I love y'alls videos and even thou I'm not a hairdresser I still love watching them. You never know I might have to cut somebody's hair one day you know what I'm saying hahaha.....😉
As a cosmetologist who watches these videos for tips, I think layers may make you feel like you don't have a lot of hair. Very fine hair needs weight towards the ends, and layers pull that out of it. However, layers would make creating volume easier. Go to your hairdresser and see what they think about soft face framing and texture! Obviously my advice can only go so far because you're not sitting in my chair ;P good luck!
stupid question, I have no idea what is meant by "fine" hair? And, what is the opposite of "fine" hair? What do you call the kind of hair that black people have? I'm mixed race and my hair is mixed also! lol
Actually, that's not correct. Fine hair is referring to the individual strands. Fine hair can be thick - or dense as he puts it in the video. I have fine hair, but a lot of it. So it doesn't have a lot of natural volume, there are a lot of fly-aways, it's staticky in winter and it gets greasy fast.

This is the best explanation and demonstration I've seen on RUclips for side swept bangs! I'm trimming them tonight!

Precisely! Well said!

Amanda Galloway cutting your bangs well once shouldn’t make you arrogant toward professionals in that field 👎🏻

I'm loving your channels tutorials...do you only dry cut hair?
I've never had much luck with it, but I'm going to try it again!
We definitely cut wet and dry... just depends on the technique. Because this channel is mainly for quick tips and tricks, usually the hair is dry for timing. Andrew!! I need you to get your hands on my hair!! Where can I book an appointment?
Hi Eleanora. Andrew is working full time in Education currently so he is not accepting clients. Sorry about that :-)

great to meet you too!
Your logo at the back makes it slightly difficult to see the detail of what you are doing. Great tutorials, Andrew.
Hi I'm looking to get a pair of your shears. What is the difference between the reverseable blending shear and the invisible shear? Thank you
Sorry for the delay on the question. The Reversible Blending shear removes more hair and is awesome for both texturizing work and even removing length. The Invisiblend is very very soft in it's removal so it's best fore removing weight and softening lines. Our Black Friday sale starts in a few days... both shears will be 45% off! Good timing :-)
@@samvillahair wooohooo! Thanks and God Bless
Wow... great !!
Where is your salon? I live in orange county area i wanna have my hair like farrah faucet😀😄😊
Было бы здорово добавить сюда русские субтитры :) На русскоязычных каналах нет таких высококлассных мастеров!
I want to learn perfect cut of hair but I don't know where from ?I leave at kolkata.
When cutting away on example 2&3 do you keep scissors teeth facing the face still it away?
I'm wondering the same thing!
because there is so much overdirection, the tooth direction won't make as much of a difference in this case.
Check the reply to Jenn :-)
And how do you keep the hair from falling over that right eye?
I hate having hair in my face, so I would like an answer to this as well!
Ty
Thank you so much🎉🎉👍👍😄

Jasper Martin fine hair is the opposite of thick hair, alot of hair:)
Jasper Martin Yours is called fucked up.

Dutch hairdressers are magnanimous crapolus, ugh! 😒 Honestly, if I want a halfway decent haircut I have to cross the channel to the UK...
