I go to the grocery twice a week but go to different stores. That way I can get the things at each store that that store is better at/carries. I use Aldis and then a major chain because there are just some things I can’t get at Aldis or I prefer a name brand for (like pop) and I find Aldis charges more for name brand. I get really weird about produce needing to be fresh so I was going twice a week any way, so I’ve started trying to be more intentional about it and making it a strategic thing. 😁

Hi from MontCo😘. What if you cooked the meat and then put it in the freezer? Also, for the early rising kiddo, get a clock and tell him he can’t come to you until it’s a certain time. Write the time next to the clock or we said what the first number needed to be. Since your boys share a room, have him go to a special spot where he can quietly entertain himself. Also, maybe try putting him to bed later so he sleeps later??? Totally agree... having a moment to myself in morning is a must! Good luck!

I have a 4 and 2yr old and we only grocery shop once a week (Mondays for us because I hate shopping on Friday-Saturday). I plan for 5-6 dinners (this will end up as left overs for lunch too), get the usual kid lunches, and whatever we are feeling for breakfast that week. My apples stay good all week in the fridge so we lean on those toward the end of the week with berries being the first things we use. I do freeze and thaw meat with no issues. I make sure to sit down and make a list a day or two before shopping so I have time to think about last minute things. Each kid has one cup of milk per day (so about a gallon each per week) and a splash of juice in their waters to keep them drinking all day (can usually get away with one large ocean spray juice for a week). My husband goes through about a half gallon of OJ per week. I try to keep a running list anytime I notice we are low or out of something so I can toss it on the shopping list. I live in Cali and can feed the four of us for between $125-$150 per week. We eat mostly chicken and ground turkey as our meats. Most veggies I get frozen. I get canned and fresh fruit. Everything else but dairy is dry goods. Most snacks I buy in bulk so every couple of weeks my grocery bill peaks. Some weeks we have some extra meats or dry goods lowering the bill the following week. I always shop the pantry before meal planning.

We have two littles and grocery shop once a week but often have to get more milk mid week. If you have room or an extra fridge buy extra milk and eggs. For produce buy enough for the week and use the produce that goes bad fast first leaving things like grapes and apples and oranges for later in the week. Thanks for the motivation!!!

We grocery shop every 2 weeks and definitely utilize our deep freezer. We, among lots of others probably can't afford (or have time) to go grocery shopping multiple times a week. I plan everything from our daily meals to snacks and drinks. If we run out or forget something we will either let it be or if it is something important we will grab it on the way home one day. We also make a lot of stuff homemade; pasta, sauces, apple sauce to cut down on cost and then freeze extras.

On keeping more groceries in the house- here’s how we do it. I make a 2 week meal plan (dinners only) and try to coordinate recipes. What I mean by that is that if I’m making spaghetti and meatballs one night, I’ll make a double batch of sauce and use that extra sauce to make tomato basil soup or vacuum seal & freeze it. If i know we are having a rice-based dish, I’ll make sure that we have another rice-based dish on the menu with similar Ingredients (from a different cuisine). The other thing we do is buy meat fresh 1x a month from Costco and then freeze it in packaging for our family size using a vacuum sealer. When you do this, you can also prepare freezer meal crock pot dump recipes if you need to. Basically, the bulk shop + a vacuum sealer is life. And the bonus of doing the freezer dump or just adding marinades to the meat going to be frozen is that it marinates as it freezes and as it thaws. 👍🏻

Could I make a suggestion? Out of love! Carter is 4, maybe but him to bed later? My 3 year old goes to bed at 8-8:30 pm, naps for 1-2 hrs if he even naps (sometimes he doesn’t and goes to bed earlier). and doesn’t wake up until 8 am. I think he’s getting too much sleep. I know that time is needed for you but it might help with the early wakings - it did for me! 💗

I have a 4 yo, 3yo, and newborn. The fact that you go to a store to shop brave. Lol i order my grocerys thru instacart two times a week. One order is for basics, and kids and the second is for me and hubby since we dont eat what they do. Plus doing 2 orders helps in case we run out. It keeps me from adding stuff i dont need too! :)

I add things to my online grocery basket as we finish them, then pick up the groceries once a week. I'm also not a fan of frozen meat, so we typically eat the fresh meat and veggies at the beginning of the week, and then do canned fish or beans towards the end of the week, and one day is usually a takeout meal.

My 4yr old cut a nap this summer and we bumped bedtime up from 8pm to 7-7:15pm and he sleeps until I wake him up for prek at 6 but on weekends he sleeps til 7. It definitely helped skipping nap and bumping bedtime. He shares a room too and we just do one lays down with him until he is asleep then the other lays with brother when it's his turn to help keep quiet until he falls asleep and then they are good to go

We’re a family of 5 (kiddos ages 6,2, and 1 year) also on a gluten free diet. I like to meal plan for the entire month. I do one BIG grocery pick up and make sure I get enough to cover the entire month (we budget $400 for that) and then once a week I go and pick up our fresh produce and milk.
If we run out of something then I just get creative with what we already have and just add it to the list for the next months pickup.

Thank you for not making mom-life look like roses all the time. Sometimes I feel like the only one struggling with these things. For groceries I always keep a back up of frozen meat (I know you don't like it but it helps a lot!), and frozen veggies for if we are in a pinch. I buy produce twice a week and more if necessary but I work full-time with 2 kids so there's not always time(or energy) to run to the store. If we have no produce or meat, I do eggs for dinner just to get some food on the table.

One word girl, Costco! Also if you have a fridge in your garage it makes storage a lot easier for those fresh items that can still stay good. Try frozen veggies instead of fresh. Less room in your fridge to take up and they are usually cheaper. Lastly, instacart! For those days when you’d rather the items come to you

Hi!!! I don’t have kids but I teach pre-k for 4/5 year olds. Some of my parents request their kids don’t nap at our nap time because they don’t sleep at night or sleep too late. Maybe Carter is waking up early because he naps? I have some parents tell me that sometimes the don’t let their kids take naps and sleep longer at night. Just a suggestion but you do whatever works, just wanted to pass that information along, maybe it will help you get your morning backs if he doesn’t nap. But if he likes to nap I totally understand.
FYI for my students who don’t nap I make them nap bags and it works for those who do not sleep. They use it quietly on their cots.

I started a food storage downstairs! We got a big gorilla rack from home depot and slowly started buying extra flour, sugars, can goods, pastas, sauces, kids snacks everything in bulk! If you can get a food saver, deep freeze and refirdgerator in your garage we also just did that this last month! So we have meat, bread it has saved me so many times already just knowing I have an extra mayo, ketchup, mustard, olive oil, pan, aluminum foil!
Plus food storage is wood for emergency like water crisis or blizzards in winter! As a kid we would be without power for a week or more and no way to get out in a car!

I meal plan for an entire week and go once a week for groceries. Family of six and we usually don’t run out of stuff. I will say though, we do one night a week that’s a “fend for yourself” so it’s all easy stuff like leftovers, sandwiches, etc and one night meatless. Some weeks we also might do take out. I always start my shopping at Aldi and whatever I can’t get there I finish my list at Walmart. Aldi and the meal planning was the big game changer for us budget wise. We are probably different though in we don’t consume a ton of dairy or eggs (I don’t consume any of that at all due to my health) 1 dozen eggs and a gallon of milk last us a week. Cheese lasts us a few weeks too.

Then I go shopping or do the pickup. I do freeze a lot of meat but I can't taste it like you say you can! I go shopping every weekend for some fruits, veggies, and milk/cheese. But otherwise I'm usually good for every other week shopping.

Almost all meat at the grocery store is previously frozen as required by law. I live in the New England area and I actually get all my meat from a meat share called Walden that comes previously frozen with dry ice and vacuum sealed. It’s all pasture raised and grass fed. You can probably find something similar with your local farms or butcher shops!

So, I don't know how far your nearest grocery store is, but living in NYC, everything is just a couple minute walk away. There are just three of us at home but with a 4 year old and a 12 year old, I feel like we are also always out of food. I stock up on things like snacks and meat and pantry food once every other week and I keep things in the cupboard and freezer. For produce and any incidentals, I walk to a nearby grocery store once a week or so. We are always needing produce and eggs, too.

I recommend Costco for bulk items - that is if you already don’t go! I’m weird and LOVE grocery shopping so if I could go 2-3x a week I would 😂

I try to buy one extra of anything that we absolutely love. As far as produce, I buy a mix of items that will last for awhile and items that will go fast. And I also hide the fruit cups in case we run out of produce before our next grocery shop. 😂 (I attempt to last as long as possible... it helps me save) I love adding items that we run out of to an app on my phone. (Buy me a pie... I use the free one... I have the option to have three separate lists which is awesome bc I shop at three different stores)
I love all of your videos... thank you for sharing 😍

What we do is we do the grocery pick-up twice a week so we do the order online Sunday & Thursday and Pick the order up every Monday & Friday, if we did it once a week the vegetables and fruit wouldn't stay fresh.

A good idea especially as he has a nap still. My 4 year old still naps and goes to bed at 8:30 pm and wakes between 6:30 am and 7:30 am.

It’s recommended to put them down earlier actually. Sounds counterproductive but if bedtime is 7:30, put them down at 6:45 and they will sleep longer. It’s pretty weird how it works but that’s what specialists suggest, is to make bedtime earlier, rather than later.

Family of 8 here! We go to Costco once a month and stock up with snacks, milk (my kids LOVE milk so we have to buy three cases) juice (one of my kids only drinks juice but I sneak in water 😉) everything else we go to the grocery store once a month for things we cant get at Costco. We do go every week to get fresh fruits and veggies though. We freeze a lot of our food tho, bread, fruits, cheese. There are time where I get so far behind on things I do go grocery shopping every week, just try your best! You do amazing!

Just something to maybe try out with your butternut squash chili is to add a tsp or 2 of cinnamon. Its really good especially during fall and winter and its even better the next day if you have leftovers and also with chicken chili too.

I loved the beginning where you chatted and filled us in! And I can so relate with the groceries we are a family of four the kids are 6 and 2 and we go through what I buy so quickly I haven’t yet but I feel like I almost do need to break it up in to two shops a week because otherwise I have to fill the cart up so much and then the fridge and it’s just a struggle right now!

Buying a few things a few days after your big shop is called a top up. Most people do it. I freeze milk and bread so never need to top this up. What I normally need to top on is bananas and apples and maybe some veges. Only buy what you need to, nothing else, as you will do your big shop again soon.

I food shop once a week, it's not cheap but at least I'm not running back and forth to the store. I have one kid at primary school here in Australia. And two kids under 2 so not running to super is a good idea. I also have recently getting my food delivered. It's the bomb and I pick the time. It's worth the 10 bucks on delivery and sometimes it's free!
I sometimes cook two meals in the one night and leave the second meal for the next nights tea. This helps with the use by dates. I dont usually put meat in the freezer I'm just able to stay on top of it like that. I hope that helps. Having said this by the time it is due for my weekly shop we are running low and we will have like toast and eggs for tea if need be x

My kids are 17,11,3 and I now hide food when I get back from the store. I hate when multiple of the same type of thing is opens like cereal or chips. I helps! I won’t pull it out until the other one is GONE! Especially my older kids. Like the bottom of a chip bag or cereal isn’t edible, its so annoying lol. Give less options seems to last longer!

we generally go grocery shopping 2 to 3 times a month. we're a three generation household (my parents, my spouse and i, and our two daughts (almost 8 and 2) and my husband and i generally have a thorough grocery day every other saturday. we buy our meat from and in bulk from an amish butcher in our area and the price and quality is great, you can't even tell it was ever frozen. that usually lasts us a month or two. then we'll head to aldi and get fresh produce, canned goods, some snacks, etc. then we usually go to walmart or target for name brand things like tide, febreze, etc. once a month we'll go to sam's club too and get diapers, wipes, bottled water, bottled drinks, etc. the only thing that is horrible about this method is you say goodbye to a lot of money all in one day but it gives a little peace of mind that we'll be good for awhile.

Awwww Tan-man! My 2nd kid is soooooooo accident prone!! It’s almost a given she’ll hurt herself at least once a day, if not more.
I also have to go to the grocery store twice a week, I feel like my food lasts 3-4 days before I have to restock the fruit/milk/eggs. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I grocery shop once a week, but try a store where you get more at better prices such as Costco or Sam’s Club that way you can stock up on your favorite things just because there’s more per package
