I've just rewatched the entire show from season 1 to 10. And I really stuggled with 10...i thought it started so well and was excited to get more into the depths and lore of the Mark of Cain & where it'd take him but the writers seemed to have taken the easy road out & i got a bit bored in the middle and the last few eps confused me with all their ambiguity & ofcourse the unnecessary killing of Charlie. So I thought I'd try ranking the seasons from best to worst since they're kind of fresh in my mind & it seems to be a thing. What do u think? Anyone got a preference of episodes.
    S4 - The best
    S5 - Amazing
S3 - Great start to the boys epic story
S2 - Good mix of story & Monster of the week eps
S8 - Purgatory, Benny & the epic finale, nuff said!
S9 - Yes to Cain (what a hot cutie patootie), no to
Tahmoh Penikett's portayal of Gadreel...(loved him as Helo though.)
    S6 - Pretty good
S7 - Hated the leviathans but some really great eps.
S1 - Good start but too episodic for mt taste.
S10 - Not enough Deanmon & contradictory motives by both the boys plus Charlie...why?

Mine would be : ( and I have included S11,12 but not 13 since it is still going on )
S5 - The best season and my third favourite season finale. Almost every episode was really awesome.
S2 - Great balance of main plot with monster-of-the-week formula. My second favourite season premiere "In my time of dying" and my second favourite season finale "All hell breaks loose pt. 2"
S3 - Fast paced, low amount of fillers, though a not-that-good episode was still present here and there, but most were freaking awesome.
S4 - Really good overall but the fillers weren't that good. My most favourite season premiere "Lazarus Rising".
S9 - Plot was good, Fillers were really good, Character development for every character was on point, great episodes like "Bad boys" and "Dog Dean Afternoon" are there. Cas was a great character again. My least favourite season premiere and my most favourite Season Finale "Do you believe in miracles?".
S1 - Even though low on main plot, the fillers themselves were very well done, and J2 hit it out of the park with their acting and chemistry.
S11 - Kickass beginning, a few bland episodes sprinkled here and there, "Baby" and "Don't Call me Shurley" are really Awesome episodes, okay-okay finale.
S12 - Really good episode quality, good plot, "Regarding Dean" and the second-last episode of the season are awesome episodes. But this season introduced a lot of new characters, maybe too many , most of whom were annoying. My least favourite season finale.
S10 - Had the potential to be the very best season, but the writers butchered it by giving Deanmon only 3 episodes, killing Charlie that too at the hands of second rate villains and wasting Cain in a single episode. Just imagine how cool it would be if Deanmon was the antagonist for the first half of the season and then got cured with Cain being the antagonist for the second half while Dean dealt with the Mark. Despite that, I really liked the Mark of Cain storyline , and this season brought us Rowena, so this season doesn't drown totally.
S8- Purgatory, Benny, the trials and the season finale were quite a bit awesome. But apart from that, nothing really stood out, as in, fillers were somewhat bland. My third favourite season premiere "We need to talk about Kevin".
S6 - Some very good episodes like "The French Mistake" and even "Appointment in Samarra". Kind of liked Soulless Sam ,but glad they did not stretch it too much. Apart from that, did not like the season much, though did not particularly dislike it either. It just felt underwhelming after the fifth season.
S7 - Character development was really good. Also, this season gave us Charlie. But this season took away Bobby. And the leviathans were underwhelming. And I did not like how the writers handled Cas this season. And the fillers were bland, though not bad by any measure.

So, I watched from the premiere in 2005 until the mid-point in S10. A particularly boring episode about some nuns is what caused me to "give up" on the show in S10! LOL! I completely understand your frustration w/S10. It was awful. I didn't watch S11 at all. I did tune in to S12 b/c I heard a certain character was back. The character was a massive disappointment. I was watching last season, but I grew bored (again) and tuned out (again). Not sure if I will tune in to S14.

Sam can kick Dean's ass so bad, but he barely does it. And as much as I always loved Dean to pieces, somehow my heart always ached more for Sam's more....rare dramatic performances. This one, I can feel the pain of both, but I still feel more for Sam. Violence, Dean has to let it out on someone and he's learnt two ways only: violence (fighting, hunting) and sex (the last once of course we don't get to see, but in real life that's how it mostly happens, and I don't mean it wincest way, in generaL) In this scene Dean is way more confused, betrayed, but I stand for Sam, though his connection with Ruby is repulsive, yet understandable.

Dean's the one who is really struggling like crazy here. When an angel of the lord tells you that the little brother you went into hellfire for is playing with the darkness you fought to save him from, this is how you react. You can really feel his anger and his disappointment here.
And sam seems more terrified of his brother than any demon he's ever faced down. You can really see glimpses of the old gentle sam. He seems so sad that he hurt his brother. He's just trying to save as many people as he can and use his powers to do something good.

    • @ankitg7994
      @ankitg7994 6 лет назад +45

True. Masterful acting by both of them here! But Dean wasn't being righteous as much as anxious. He was back from 40 years in hell, he knew how twisted Demon's minds worked. He knew that even though Sam did not intend to go bad, it was a slippery slope that would lead nowhere good. He was scared that his brother would slowly turn into what the Angels called him, 'an Abomination'.

Sam does have a point when he said that he was alone and he needed to figure out how to survive without Dean. Ruby comes back and offers him comfort, support, and soothes his feelings loneliness. Seducing somebody who's drunk is wrong, but I think there was a part of her that cared about Sam and she thought it would help him feel better. Sam was using powers that he got from ingesting demon blood, even with not knowing that he would get addicted, it was pretty obvious that powers coming from a source as twisted as Azazel could not be free and would require a price, a bad one. Dean is just back from 40 years in hell, he knows more or less how Demon's minds work in twisted ways, he is still unable to make his brother listen to reason, open up to the possibility that Ruby ain't trustworthy.

I didn't like how Dean treated Sam with the whole demon blood and powers thing, because Sam did REALLY have good intentions at the start of this whole mess. But there is so much stuff in this scene about Dean's reaction. He is angry, but he is also scared as hell. Basically his father, Castiel, the angels and others around him told him that he needs to stop/save Sam or else he will have to kill him or others will and he spent so much time trying to protect his brother from that and then he discovers that what they told him might actually happen.
I am not apologizing him, but I understand him so much still. At the end of the day, his anger and his roughness towards Sam in this season came all because he was terrified of losing him.

Dean backs off about that the moment Sam says that. Sometimes things are said in the heat of the moment. He does not pester him on that point, as he knew Sam was right about killing Demons with the knife killing the people as well. But Sam is not doing the right thing, either. He and Dean have been using Devil's traps and exorcisms the whole 3 seasons before, and now instead of using his powers just in case of emergency, Sam is using it without a second thought. Those powers, which were given to him by the demon who killed his mother, which require him to act like a vampire, the effects of which powers he saw on the other special children. That's wrong as well.

He trusted Ruby when he was most vulnerable. She helped him through a tough time. She told him that the only way he could kill Lilith was with his powers, and the only way he could use his powers was to drink demon blood. He wanted Lilith dead for so many reasons. One being she sent Dean to Hell. Two being she was an evil demon and he knew it and she was trying to start the Apocalypse. So he was technically doing what he thought was right, and I think he was right to do it, I think most people would fall for that in a time like that. Plus Dean is actually the one who started the whole thing! He broke the first seal, so if he hadn't done that none of the Apocalypse would've happened. It's not like he was forced to torture other souls in Hell, he chose to because he didn't want to be tortured himself anymore. So I'm with Sam on this one. And most other things too tbh...

This happened because the Angels planned it to be so.They could have rescued him earlier, but they rescued him only after he broke it, thus securing him as Michael's vessel. They had been planning this since they hitched Mary and John. As for Sam, his reasons are sympathisable and intentions good, but he should have known that it was a slippery slope. He was not only using powers that one demon gave him while killing his mom no less, he was fueling it by acting like a vampire.

I've always been 50-50 with these brothers, always seeing it from their point of views and agreeing with their logic but I feel like I'm leaning on Dean's side of things because I understand him being like this.
People forget that Sam is, while.his own person and an adult now, Dean's very reason for living. He was his Mother, his father and his Brother all in one since no one else could do it. That's where his hypocrisy comes into play in his character a lot since he has this "I can do it but you can't" vibe because he doesn't care about his own life like he does for Sam's. But it does get overwhelming for Sam though, which made him leave and want to be on his own which is understanding. Dean kept treating him like a kid so Sam just grew tired of it.
Sam, though, made some good points on being a freak. Like how Dean couldn't really understand what it was like, how he had to live with this forever and all. But in my opinion, I saw it as a reason for Sam to just feel powerful, to be stronger than Dean. I mean, Sam makes it seem like he had no control of the demon powers, which at first was kinda true considering he had visions and stuff but he made it seem like he was cornered to use these gifts, which he wasn't.
He didn't want to kill people with the knife so he could've used the Latin spell to banish them back to hell but he chose demon powers because it was easier and stronger. He wasn't all alone, he had Bobby, who was also going through Dean being dead, Ellen and Jo. I get he was messed up but he wasn't the only one mourning. Sam chose to leave everyone, Sam chose to keep ruby around, which in my view, is what pissed Dean off more than the demon powers.

neither of them had an actual conversation about anything this whole season they need to stop hiding their feelings until they blow up and actually be here for eachother because if sam had deans understanding maybe this wouldn’t of happened of if dean stayed close to sam even with ruby but then again sam was sneaking out but then again he’s scared of what dean might think because he knows the way he looks at him
