- Commissioned performing live in 1990 for a packed-out crowd at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN. This performance features Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Dawkins & Dawkins (Eric & Anson Dawkins), Maxx Frank, Eddie Howard, and Michael Williams.

Had the chance to interview Mitchell years ago on my college radio show and it was amazing. Pretty much any male R&B group that came out in the 90's was heavily influenced by Commissioned.

This is the best Marvin Sapp has ever sounded. He wasn't hollering but he was belting with control. I love this Marvin!!!!!! He was basically a baby lol but he held his own. This was his introduction

It is amazing how all the different vocals from the group blend in to make beautiful godly music. Mitch and Karl background vocals smooth as butter at 4:07 mark in video.
@@michele6691 Actually, he didn't fit-in in the beginning. He was holding back a lot. Keith Staten was perfect for that Winans-type feel. Fred Hammond used to play Bass guitar for the Winans. So, Sapp coming in changed their sound a bit. "King of Glory" was a departure. The line-up with Montrell replacing Fred was a better fit for Marvin Sapp. Then, of course, my favorite line-up was with Marcus Cole and Poole (Mitch and Karl). That's when I initially fell in love with the Commissioned!!
I never knew about commissioned cause I was born in 90 all I heard and experienced was Fred Hammond and his praise team all in the 90s and 2000s then I heard of Marvin Sapp and started experiencing his music genius around the early/mid/late 2000s 🤭🤭🤭 long story but I never knew that they sang together until I saw their reunion on TV and thanks to social media am more than able to keep up with them and I recognized the differences between the 80s and 90s they already were talented in that era but as for my era when they added Marvin OMG he brought a different flavor to the group yeah we need a movie about them I love them really I do I just experienced more praise and worship from Fred and Marvin I didn't know they use to jam and sound more r&b type times were different then lol but yes Marvin was a force to be reckoned with and till this time era he's still the G.O.A.T. fr fr
Suga I remember when my late husband and I first heard that rascal (Sapp) we were trying to hold each other up like oh my ! We thought the brothers had really outdone themselves. Well as we have learned "the best was STILL TO COME!
