Loving the longer, lower and wider stance of this car. It gives the car much more of a 'sport" presence just looking at it (and when I sat in one at my local car show). From an Everyman perspective (no need for all the extra bells and whistles) this is by far my favorite BMW.
Did it wrong. Sport+, Traction control off shifter to the left then step on the break preload and go. You are way of 0-60 and you are on an X-DRIVE...!
Not only that, but if you saw, it only had 28 miles on it, so it wasnt even broken in yet
Those rims are really cramping that car's style.

I too did hear that and made a double take. I went to the BMW USA website and checked the specs. It clearly states; Unleaded PREMIUM. Guess that fact escaped the script.
justin u You guys just have shitty petrol. In Europe, you only use premium fuel for sports cars, because the octane rating of fuel is higher here anyway.

@@vitalykutuzov3331 dude, do some research. North american and Europe use different methods to rate Octane. 98 in europe is practically the same as 91 or 94 in North America.

You should have had the chassis in sport+ mode and transmission in sport mode to get better 0-60 times.
Bought my 428i yesterday with a $4000 discount for $38k! It is a completely different car way above my previous C250 Coupe in all ways, specially suspension, comfort and performance. BMW 428i also offers HID lamps and driving modes in the basic trim standard!

i like your video a lot man, subbed! just a heads up though, even though you did your 0-60 runs in sport mode, you need to flick the new 8-speed transmission handle to the MS side before it will engage faster sport shift times. flicking it up and down in MS mode will then enable full paddles operation, but if even if you leave it in purely MS mode alone it will shift faster than normal D mode.
man that's not how you do a 0-60...you need to turn traction control off or at least put it in sport+...you would've shaved half a second IMO
That's how people actually drive - no one is putting things into sport+ mode and reving the engine like an a-hole just to get in front of someone at a redlight with a lane merge coming up, they just press the pedal and go. With that said the times seem off, but the car also only had 28 miles, might need to have been broken in a bit more.
Dave love your videos.... but on your 0-60 you forgot to use the launch control which pegs rpm at 3000 and will result in 1 second faster time. Just think you should mention that to the viewer who are interested in such facts. Take Care and keep the reviews coming!
I'm sorry, but I disagree with the Regular fuel type...Premium Unleaded always recommended, if not required with these cars...
depends on how BMW tuned the engine... just saying use premium without understanding how the engineers factory tuned the car is not correct.

The car is on sport mode, did you also put the auto transmission to sport as well? Simply by put the transmission knob to the left and do not up/down shift. It will make the transmission ratio closer.
Seems like it wasn't launched correctly. Does it have launch control? If not, it probably would be faster if you first step on brake with left foot, then rev engine to maybe 4000, then release brake.
Also, isn't the 6 speed manual going to be slower than the 8 automatic? Usually would be with modern 8A.
Coopay? Is that the Pompous version of a coupe?
You get slightly higher 0-60 times because I guess you are using all weather tires and also xDrive is a bit heavier.
It definitely needs larger wheels than the 18"s on your tester, which get lost in the wheel wells. I do like the new dash set up on the 4 Series. Nice review.

I'm quite familiar with 19" and 20" wheels with runflat tires. I have had BMWs with both. I don't understand your point. I was simply commenting on the appearance of the smaller alloy wheels on the white test car and that I prefer the look of the larger, optional 19s or 20s. Why the attack? Were you inebriated?
Ask the Beach Boys how to pronounce "coupe". They wrote an album and song, Little Deuce Coupe, not Little Deuce Coo-Pay. Other than that, it was a decent review and nicely shot. Could've done without the speed tests though.

the car has only 28miles on the odometer and you already rev it nearyl to the limiter....not to mention that the engine was cold
that does damage to the engine, amd the engine sounds better warmed up.
@ekim andersom An engine frees up with several thousand miles on it so will be faster! And revving a cold engine will cause damage!

You didn't launch it properly. Are you testing the car in altitude or at sea level? Also, X-Drive adds weight.
Got a few facts wrong - the car doesn't regular gas, needs 89 min. Also the base wheels are 17", not 18". I had a 2014 428i on a lease, it had the M-sport suspension, and the car handled amazingly. The balance he talks about is legit - although, in fairness, I also test drove a Cadillac ATS with the 2.0 turbo with whatever their sport package is and the Caddy might have handled just a tad better, but it was really close. The thing that sold me on the BMW was the infotainment center, back in 2014 the Cadillac CUE infotainment center was complete garbage, it was just too slow and unresponsive, which is why I went with the BMW, the UI was so much faster/better and easier to use. Also the car had heads up display, which was awesome to have. However I'd have Apple Carplay since then, so the old 2014 is sort of chunky and slow - that would be the only reason I'd hesitate on buying one of these again. They are really fun cars to drive and still look great - and like all luxury cars they depreciate quickly, so you can find some nice ones for under $20k, even with the current used car market that has pushed prices on a lot of stuff up quite a bit.

Volkswagen has the feature to open the trunk waving the foot available since 2010. i think it would be interesting to see it more widely available.
Not all 4 series come standard with 18 inch rims. With the 428 you need to get one of the lines (luxury, sport, m) to get to 18 and 19 inch rims. The test car is a no-line car so it has the 17-inch wheels...
This is so weird, how we earlier somehow managed to open the trunk even when we had bags in both hands. I am not sure but I think we used to put one of the bags on the ground, reach for the handle on the trunk lid, press that and voila, the lid opened up.

Shouldn't rev a cold engine above 3000rpm - says the manual of my e46. I don't imagine a newer higher-output would be much different. Also BMWs like most European cars will run better on Premium fuel: higher output, lower consumption.

I drive a BMW like this and M sport it doesn't take regular gas it takes premium

Air temperature, engine temperature, altitude all affect the results of the zero to sixty test.
I just can't seem to get excited for this car. Even though it's been out for a while, I'd spend my money on the Audi A5 which I still think looks fantastic
the seatbelt system is necessarily a safety feature, its just because the doors are too big
The driver need to step on the accelerator while pressing the brake , build up the engine rev then release the brake, then it will get better than 6.44 sec for sure

It only has 240hp; I don't think a manual is going to make THAT much difference 0-60. Sure, you can build boost to get it off the line quicker, but I doubt it will break into the 5's.
he's launching it in correct. Also BMW doesn't really give actually HP rate, this car probably is somewhere in the 260ish HP range

Lmao I hated when BMW killed the 3-series coupe and in 2018 I bought a 2015 428i xDrive coupé, best purchase I've ever made.
And the rear seats are much, much, more usable and practical than as depicted. My 6'1 D1 athlete best friend changed her entire outfit on a drive from hell to Newark airport in Nov. 2018 with ease and without me ever seeing anything exposing so to speak, so needless to say the back seats are in fact usable. All in all, my have the turn tables

Its slower because he is using regular gas. If he gave it 93 and used the paddles it would hit 5.6

The car looks about as attractive as the journalists jacket! Remove the Buick side fish gill and can you please stop changing the front end every 12 weeks. BMW is awesome in my book, but this design is a little off the mark.
Agreed, Dave is cool but that jacket doesn't fit his style at all, it was probably a gift! And white ain't his color. Red and blue are his colors. Enjoyed the review as always.
