My whole life I’ve been told that I’m delusional because no matter what I do my metabolism is slow and people say I’m just lazy but I love walking and and I’m always moving so.... I feel justified!
Im 5'2 and I totally agree with you about the cardio. Everytime I do cardio I spend the majority of my day eating everything in sight. Essentially making my workout useless
I hate how clothing manufacturers ALWAYS assume petite women are skinny! They just make the cup size smaller, all of the sizes are reduced. ALL PETITE MEANS IS THAT OUR LIMBS AND BODY ARE SMALLER!! All we’re asking for is for hemmed pants and sleeves, and something that will fit like it does anybody else. WERE NOT ALL TINY WEIGHT WISE.
I WAS NODDING MY HEAD THE WHOLE TIME. I go AWF on athletic apparel companies advertised on my Instagram when they claim inclusiveness. I'm like "If you ain't got no 27inseam then take yo tall ass home!" lol
Right! They almost making me feel self conscious looking at the sizes. I’m grabbing the sizes all the way in the back. I feel they need to increase the sizes and be more inclusive.
I’m 5ft and have an endomorph body type which means I store so much more fat in my thighs, lower stomach, hips and butt area. I’ve always made a big deal about keeping my weight at around 120-125 to look fit because, to me, being very short and being over 135 lbs (if it’s not much muscle) it makes me look heavier. Especially since I store more fat than muscle.
I have the same body type, before the pandemic I was ~100-115, now I'm ~120-123 and it's been an adjustment. My first approach was to diet and do a bunch of cardio to get back to ~105, but I'm realizing I'm at a healthy weight I'm just not toned and should lose only ~5 lbs. Good luck on your journey!!
@@cymonescurio agree. Good cardio and weight training is what works best for our body type. I definitely have put on quarantine weight and am working on dropping a few pounds to get back to my healthy and toned look. Good luck on yours too 😊❤️
Oh my gosh this is so perfect. I'm 5'1" and I was told to eat 1200 calories a day. I did this almost religiously and at one point was eating a tiny bar for breakfast and 200 calorie salads for breakfast and dinner. I didn't gain any weight, but I didn't lose any either and I FELT AWFUL. Now I know I need to actually add on more calories but not sure what healthy things to add bc THERE'S SO MANY OPINIONS OUT THERE. I've also been doing ballet barre workouts and love them!!
@@maryphantomhive7310 non exercise activity thermogenesis, so things like walking more, playing with your dog, cleaning your house, etc all add up to increase your NEAT and therefore increase your TDEE :)
1) Fitness: for a lean look & gaining muscle for an increased matabolism by lifting weights 3-4x per week; 2) Cardio: not too much! This leads to increased hunger, which could lead to eating more; also muscle tissues may be broken down. Better: little cardio; 3) Nutrition: Food journal for three days to get an overview (How much processed food?) - More nutricious whole foods and more protein (~ 1g/pound Body weight) 4) Water intake: less bloat/water retention - 2-3 Liters daily! 5) HIIT/cardio: always after the lifting sessions for maximizing results! Good luck on your Journey, petites! I am starting today 🍀💪🏼
First, thanks for serving the petite community! I'm 4"11 and one of the online calculators recommended 1,298 calories to lose weight and 1,000 calories to lose weight fast.
@@5starseolarsystem Joanna soh's is my favourite but it can be a bit difficult to get through in the beginning, be careful ruclips.net/video/mUns8O4YL5M/видео.html and there's this channel called juice and toya who also have a pretty cool more beginner friendly strength training workout video. I can finally do 20 push ups after a year or so of doing this at home and my body is much more toned than before, i have a fat percentage on the border of fitness and average (23-24%)
@Lil Black Spy i did at times a week in the beginning as she said in the video. And i don't rlly diet right now, i just don't eat junkfood and processed foods as often a many other people ik. I'm in highschool so i almost don't have the time to work out regularly and i stopped at the time of exams, I actually also stopped for months in mid 2020 because i had to take care of my body (lost my period after undereating and overexercising for several months prior), now I'm 5'2" and at 44 kgs while before the disordered eating phase i was at 41kg, both still considered underweight lol but I know i am healthy. I really suggest you don't go overboard and take it slow, both with ur dieting and ur workout so you can do it longterm.
@Lil Black Spy sorry ik u weren't looking for that long of a reply. Also before u start dieting i recommend u check out Edukale With Lucie, I found her video suggested on this one and her advice helped me find the right eating habits for me. I also recommend zoeunlimited's videos about diet and fitness, she's not a professional but she is pretty motivating and her advice for faster metabolism is rlly good.
I got shit on by elitist redditors when I tried to tell them tho I am short I’m very active and that it sounds really bad that I’d have to eat 1200 a day. I didn’t want to starve and all I got was: “you’re not as active as you think you are” “your high intensity workouts don’t count” “you’re short so it makes sense you have to eat 1200”. Seriously screw those people.
Ok that’s ridiculous. People really act like they know your life lol. “Your high intensity workouts don’t count” whaaat. What is even the reasoning behind that? Regardless, you keep doing what you’re doing!! And yes, forget em! 😉
No for real those people suck. I'm 5'1" and for if I eat at my "maintenance" that actually causes me to lose a pound a week and feel like absolute crap.
@@tatianapolanco2115 I didn’t even see this! Thank you so much 🥺 you’ll be happy to know I’m making great progress on 1500-2000 cals a day! Gaining muscle an I’m super happy now :) those people knew nothing. As for their logic. I believe they purposely try to underestimate activity level so that they believe their deficit is lower, therefore lose weight faster and justify under-eating :/
Same here but I lose weight at 1400... Start at 1800 and drop 100 each week until u start losing about half a kg a week, then build muscle and increase cals!
As a petite myself too, I couldn't agree more with the whole video! I have been years dieting and failing until I started doing this right and I have been able to cut 20 kg off thanks to applying all of these principles
I was going crazy how I can handle being petite and exercise, I don’t want to bulk up, just tone and lean and less fat. Thank you for this video, and I just also signed up for gym membership near my home, so it’s perfect. I just thought that there so should be really a perfect for petite as we can usually see the general fitness, and as our body is amazing, whatever works for someone not necessarily can work for us. I finally found my petite girlys.
hey girl! 💕 so proud of you for taking charge of your fitness journey and getting that gym membership! being petite means we have to be strategic - it's not about doing MORE, but doing the RIGHT things. strength training is your bestie for getting lean, not bulky. focus on compound movements like squats, push-ups, and dumbbell exercises. remember, muscle takes up less space than fat, so you'll look toned, not massive! 💪🏼 you've totally got this, petite queen!
I have been lied to my entire life🥺- i never understood why weightloss never worked for me and why would literally need to starve myself by eating like a freaking toddler (1200-1300 calories ) THANK YOU!!!🙏🏻🥺
@@jf5419 I have gone into ketosis, 5’3, 129 and can’t get out of this weight stall.. been a month and a half.. on 1300 cals a day.. how many cals did you eat when you cut carbs back?
@@laceywest2828 Oo see I never did full keto, I only reduced my carbs to around 100-150grams a day. I was also on 5500 kilojoules a day (not sure what the conversion to calories is sorry!)
I'm 27 y/o, 5'2" and 180 lbs. I look extremely overweight for my height/stature even though I'm under 200 lbs. I was 120-125 lbs my senior year of high school, gained a bunch of weight due to many factors. It's been a struggle and nothing has worked. I always give up. This video helped alot and I don't feel so alone now. I will give these tips a try, my goal weight is 130 lbs! Thanks for this video ❤
My metabolism is soooo slow that i once ate 800 cals a day for 2 weeks and didnt lose ANY weight. I probs should have kept going to see progress but damn my body is stubborn as fuck
Sofia going on that low of calories could actually be hurting your metabolism more. It’s very difficult to heal your metabolic rate. So, feed your body nutrients, it’s not completely about calories. Carbs, fats, sugar, etc are things you want to pay attention to
@@AppleBottomJ it does slow ur metabolism down👋 I was eating as low as that last year and yeah I lost weight, but once I started eating more I gained a lot. now I’m eating 1500 or more everyday and I’m only a pound heavier than last year lmao
@@MellowsView omg thats insane i am super confused with this .. as i am 5' 1 i think and weight 48 kg as of now i started dieting to lose some fat on my thigh that was my motivator and now thay i am searching more about it as a petite girl i am getting super confused with other people's dieting
the 1200 calculator really messed me up in middle school. the website said that i needed to eat 800-900 to loose weight. a lot of my classmates called me fat. so i went crazy with it and was like why not wat 600 calories a day. i ended up loosing my period for a year. now i eat as much as i want. i stick to low carb and low sugar. that helps a lot.
Yay!! I found my small peoples!! Rocking 5ft 1 inches here and this whole 1200 calories are killing me and making me binge😔. thank you for posting this!🥰
This channel is so informational and inspirational. I thought that as a small/petite woman (5’1 130lbs) that I would never be able to start working out. Now I can work on speeding up my metabolism and hopefully get to 115lbs which is my goal!
Using a fitness calculator essentially gave me an eating disorder and I ended up in recovery and overshooting my weight by a bit. Now I'm finding my way back to fitness the right way! Thank you for this video!
I'm five foot even and the calorie counter told me that I need to eat 900 calories a day to lose a significant amount of weight. I struggle with binge eating so my journey has been SO DIFFICULT. I'm so glad I found your videos
I'm so glad I found this channel. Being 5'0 it is so difficult and confusing when it comes to fitness also love seeing and relating to other women in fitness that are petite.
I’m 4”11 and did the calculators, to lose around a pound a week I was only allowed to have 1000 calories a day. I have successfully lost weight just cutting my carbs in half 🤷🏻♀️
It was so frustrating that everyone showed ways to calculate how much I should be eating, and getting always around 1200, but then the same people said that that amount was too little. So I didn't really knew what do (like everything was made for higher and bulkier people). So this type of videos focusing on us petites are just awesome
I have struggled with my weight since childhood. I’m 5’2 and like you said, I do the calculations and I’m always told 1200 cals which never seems feasible. I’m so happy I found your channel!!
You really deserve more subscribers, tbh I don’t understand why fitness “experts” here on RUclips talk so little about this and how apps can give such an wrong information. Almost everywhere it says 1200 calories and 80% cardio 🙄
Just found your channel and couldn’t agree more. I got so into cardio I was a long time marathon runner at 5’3” on my tallest day ever 😂 and still couldn’t understand why I wasn’t ‘skinny’ running as much as I was.
I'm 4'9 im 24 at the beginning of January I was at 175 and now I'm 167 so I'm getting there ❤ Instead of using a calorie counter i just eat/drink Breakfast: lemon/honey water 2 boiled eggs, banana, wheat toast Lunch: water, Turkey spinach salad, (no dressing) chesse. Dinner; water some type of light meat usually chicken or Turkey and some kinda healthy veggies. Of course water through of the day. I never get hungry through out the day or eat after 7pm, if I do need a snack I just eat nuts or blue berries. Or I alternate breakfast with healthy smoothie, 1 banana, 1/2avacado, 1cup blueberries, I teaspoon of honey 1/2cup water. Blend and enjoy. Keep you full till lunch.
I’m so happy I found this😩 thank you! I’m 5ft and have been starving myself & running/walking everyday thinking it would help.. this video is literally life changing!
so i lost like 20 lbs by doing that last summer. i was depressed and i starved myself by only eating one small snack a day and a cup of coffee in the morning. my energy was so low and i had horrible headaches. in a matter or 2 or so months i gained ALL the weight back and MORE. it was horrible and very unhealthy choice but i thought starving myself was th best idea. sooo wrong and now im losing weight in a calorie deficiet and cardio every single day.
Omg I needed this! I’m 4 months PP & I was only eating like 1,200 and weight lifting & I feel like I haven’t seen any difference. I honestly feel like I’ve gained so I see why!
This is great information! As a petite woman who loves lifting and running this definitely makes sense! I lift heavy six days a week and run about 3 miles a day excluding Sundays! I find that my metabolism is so fast, and I am hungry all the time but I don’t have The results I want! I am strong and in great shape, but I feel the excess stress I put on my body causes me to hold weight in my midsection! I also graduated in exercise science and find that the information I learned in school is very applicable in a broad sense but not so much for petite woman! Thank you for putting out there! Any advice?
You’re probably working out too much. I love lifting too but you have to give yourself rest days in between for the body to heal. It’s probably making you more hungry because the body needs calories to heal since it’s not getting rest. You maybe want to try lifting 4 days a week. When I was lifting 5-6 days a week and running every day I gained like 20lbs. I’ve been doing 3/4 days lifting and some cardio for 4 years and I’ve maintained my weight loss and inches loss doing this.
This was so helpful, I'm 4'11 and those weight calculators NEVER help me work out what I need to do. I didn't know we had slower metabolisms for being shorter!
Wow! How am I just now finding your channel! I'm 5'2" and I *used* to try to eat 1,200 calories. Then I started working with a CPT and she helped me reverse diet. So now I'm eating so much more and not gaining weight. Loving it!
IM SO HAPPY I FOUND U!! This was so helpful and made so much sense 😩 So excited to build muscle and really transform my body the RIGHT way for me. THANK YOU!
I'm so glad I found this channel. I relate to this experience so much. I used an online calorie calculator and it came out saying that I shouldn't eat more than 1200 calories a day. But whenever I have tried to limit my calorie intake down to this level, I felt hungry constantly. I love cooking and eating, so thinking that 1200 is the limit for me is just genuinely depressing! I tried intermittent fasting a couple of years ago and it kind of worked -- I looked slim, but I didn't have any muscle tone or strength.
Yess finally my ears are liking this! I absolutely hate cardio workouts so that’s good to hear. You have good points. I’m 156cm and 45kg but I look heavy because I’m skinny fat. I hate that I always feel like I have to starve so that I don’t gain weight. I’m also always feeling just weak and unenergized. Now I understand why. I’ve always wanted to look lean and just healthy but I hate exercising. I hate gyms and weights. However I decided to change. I have now done just home workouts for the past two weeks. I feel more alive and energized. I still don’t like it but I’m trying and I’m not giving up. Thanks for the tips.
6 weeks lost 5pounds with calorie reduction (below 1200 ) and walking. hit plateau. search to find out why i fell asleep for a whole day/hit plateau brought me here.
@리리Lili777 hi i don't know if you can help me but im 4'11 and i have been eating 1100-1200 calories a day and at the beginning I lost weigh But now i lost my body shape, muscle and i can't keep loosing fat You have any tip?
I’m 4’10 and was teeter tottering 125-126 lbs. over the span of 8 weeks I am now at 120-122 lbs on a regular day. I plan to reach 110-115 with plenty of muscle definition. 💪🏼 great tips!
I developed an eating disorder (im 14 and 4'10 btw) by looking up calories and my tdee/bmr and its been HELL the last 3 yrs 😩 i wanna recover and this motivates me even more bc the only reason i was hesitant was bc i was sure that there was no way to lose weight healthfully... yay i found a solution
i am so so thankful i found you! i have struggled for years with restriction/bingeing cycle because all these calculators tell me to eat 1100 cals. quite personally... i developed an eating disorder three years ago, and have been trying to find a way to just eat healthily, love my body and gain muscle.. you've already helped heaps!
I know this video is 3 years old, but literally my people! I’m a 4’11” adult female and it’s ridiculous the calories those counters tell me to eat! Love your content so much.
This was the most loving advice I've ever been given about my body and I wish I'd have found this sooner honestly. Been trying to do 1,450 cals a day with cardio and IF for 6 MONTHS and of course it didn't work I'm excited to try this and feel relieved to understand what was happening with my cravings and fatigue now. THANK YOU SO MUCH 💞💕
Just because it isn't fair doesn't mean you can't do something about it! With hard work (weight training and healthy diet) reaching your goals as a petite is more than possible! As April explains, increasing your metabolism through gaining muscle (since muscle burns calories at rest/sleep) will allow you to eat more calories without gaining weight/fat
Wow, I just found this and it was packed with new info! I’m 5’2” and I’ve been doing lots of cardio then lifting... I knew it wasn’t the best but you explained it so well! I do get 1200 cals in my apps:/
I am 5'2" and I used to spend 2 hours at the gym 6 days a week burning anywhere from 600kcal - 800kcal. Now I can go to the gym and burn 400kcal in 35 minutes using the elliptical on maximum resistance, and I only go 4 days a week. Increasing your protein intake is necessary to maintain muscle. I went from 46% body fat to 40% body fat in 2 months (and now it's probably 30-something as I haven't body scanned myself at the gym for 4 months). I went from 92kg to 62kg and I plan to get down to 50kg. I drink anywhere from 1.8L to 2.4L in a day. I am looking forward to a brighter and healthier future.
Y’all I’m 16 and I barely reached 5ft I’ve been a chunky girl since I was really young I was always put on crazy diets working out 6 times a week and salads for breakfast lunch and dinner. And my metabolism was also a little slow my pares y always took me for lazy so they would force me to work out and I was always hungry and hella tired (note I was like 10 yo) but thank u sm these tips are so helpful I’ve been doing cardio and deficient for 7 months and I have only lost 5 pounds and super hungry all the time tysm for these tips I’m new to your channel and I start tomorrow wish me luck!
1000% I ate 1200 calories (plus I ate back the calories I burned via exercise) and lost 35lbs (7yrs ago) in 4 months. Though days when I didn't work out, or burned fewer calories really sucked.
I am not very petite but I always instinctively thought diets didn't work for me, just organising my eating times (just eating in similar time slots) but I would workout for 2 months and my body shifts ... Everything you are saying makes sense.
Finally!! When I first tried the online calculators, I too got the suggested 1200 cals. I’m 5ft and 116lbs. I’m what they what they call “skinny fat” I’m skinny but ✨soft✨ looking and Bc of all the confusion between going on a calorie deficit vs calorie surplus it made me go through a little body dysmorphia and eating disorder and got in the way of my fitness goals. So glad to find this video and hope to learn more!
Also to add, I was doing research on TikTok about 1200 cals and that’s the amount of cals enough to sustain a toddler/golden retriever!!! How insane is that!
Okay so this is great ive been trying to find a short fitness person to educate me on this for so long. My whole life i have been saying this and everyone didnt believe me. I knew there had to be a different way to be healthy as a smaller person. Thank you for educating me. Heres whats going on with me right now and im not seeing results yet but I just want to make sure i am doing this correctly and i just need more time. Im 5ft tall. In high school i was a 4 sport athlete i weighed 115 when i graduated. A year later i was a flight attendant so always on my feet and on the go and i got down to 90 pounds without working out or anything i honestly think i was just always working i literally forgot to eat. fast forward to two years later i was in college and not working out and got up to my highest which was 165. Now currently working from home desk job and ive been working out 6 times a day for 5 weeks now and currently at 150. And havent seen much of a change but i definitely feel better and healthier. My question is, is this due to me working 12 hours shifts 5 days a week and sitting all day have this much of an impact on me losing weight slower then what im used to? I understand if you cant get back to me but thank you if you can! Thanks for supporting and educating short girls!
I'm 4'11" and I've always gotten 1200 as my caloric goal for weight loss. I always found that hard to maintain when I was trying to have several meals in a day. I started intermittent fasting and started having real losses and was able to stay at my intake goal. I also do Keto, and it really helps me get my cravings and hunger under control.
How’s it going for you? I’ve been working out these past 2 and a half weeks with just doing cardio (I would burn like 800 calories per day) and I saw a drop in my weight but not in fat :( So I think I need to do HIIT and some strength training now. What worked for you?
I’m 5’2” and for about 10 months I’ve been eating between 700-1200 calories and burning at least 200 calories daily doing cardio. I also water fast for 16-18 hours daily. This worked fine for about the first 4 months, but now I’ve just plateaued. I’ve seen no progress at all. I just want to enjoy food again so I’ll take this video’s advice and work on building muscle instead of doing cardio. No more counting calories. I’ll focus on eating more protein to help build muscle instead. I won’t weigh myself either, but rather look for body fat loss. I’m starting today.
i used to be fairly skinny and could easily lose weight then i became anorexic/ bulimic. i over came my eating disorder but now all i do is gain weight... i feel so disheartened. i exercise everyday and eat fairly healthy. im 4’11 & 121lb
I’m in a similar boat. I am 5’4 and 128 right now. While my weight isn’t horrible- I’m definitely “skinny fat” right now. I’m struggling soooo hard with understanding that weight loss isn’t supposed to be super fast. I’m used to drop a pound a day when my ed was going strong.
Hey! I’m 4’11 too but 96 pounds and it’s my Day 19 in exercising and I’ve just been doing cardio (cos that’s all I thought I should do), but I have tons of belly fat :(( and it’s been really discouraging to continue
Hi!!! I’m so glad I finally found your channel! I’ve had all the problems you are talking about! I did the online calculator, I’ve restricted calories but I’ve also calculated my calories a little higher and done weightlifting. I’ve fluctuated so much throughout my life and I can’t seem to figure out how to really dive into weights to get the body I’ve always wanted! Thank you for existing and I can’t wait to see more videos from you!
I’m 5’1 and Ive been eating 1200 cal 6 days a week for nine months. I’ve dropped 22 lbs and I always feel full enough as long as I’m eating nutritious food. I thought the time and money for a gym wasn’t worth it because I was only thinking about the benefits of looking leaner faster, but I never even thought about the consequences of NOT exercising while in a calorie deficit. I’m not even skinny yet but I’ve never felt scrawnier and weaker in my life. I had to move house recently and lift a lot of boxes and furniture and it was a huge wake up call. If nothing else, lifting is worth it to make sure you’re only burning fat and not muscle. Having muscles is a practical thing, not just an aesthetic goal.
did you start increasing your calorie intake? I'm 5'1 too and am currently eating 1500 kcal just to be safe because I didn't want to risk undereating if it meant that it was going to mess up my metabolism, but if it's safe for me to eat less to gain optimal results I'll gladly change my meal plan
@@asadorama I wouldn't advocate for anyone to eat 1200 for that specific reason. I think getting my metabolism used to 1200 was a mistake because now I can't increase my intake and still get results. My weight loss has been very slow at 1200 anyway since it's not sustainable without taking breaks/"refeed" days every week or two, which sometimes ends up throwing me off the rails for days at a time. That's far from optimal imo. If you're losing any weight at all by eating 1500 then please, please stick with that. I wish I'd started there instead of trusting myfitnesspal. If you're not losing at 1500 then I definitely suggest adding exercise instead of decreasing your calorie intake. Right now I'm looking into a workout plan that can help me undo some of the damage but it's tough at this stage.
@@briannatalent4336 aw that sounds rough.. it makes a lot of sense tho since you've been eating such a low amount for quite a long time, but you learn from your mistakes right. I hope everything is gonna work out! last year I was actually on a 1200 diet for a bit over a month, I lost some weight pretty fast and I was also working out on the side. I lost motivation tho so that's mainly the reason why I went back into my old habits, (binging junk food etc) so I gained it all back I'm very serious about it this time and I also got a lot of time on my hands now because school only starts in 3 months. so my goal is to achieve some visible results by then, like not necessarily a major glow up but I'd like to see some big changes because I'm currently overweight. I'm gonna workout for sure, that's a must! but I've been doubtful about the approach I should take with food. should I play it safe and stick with 1500 kcal but probably get the results at a much slower pace or go back to what I did last year which was 1200 kcal, if so I'll only be eating that amount until I go back to school and from there on I'll slowly increase my calorie intake whilst working on boosting up my metabolism. that's the plan I had in mind but honestly I'm not sure anymore argh this is hard
@@asadorama how did it workout?? I wanna look better for school, I don’t use a scale anymore due to issues but I think I’m around 118-120 and I’m 5’0 but my body it’s just shaped like a door and I have a belly ): hate pants on my body but wanna wear them so so bad and like myself in them
Out of all the weightloss videos I've watched this one was the most helpful! Things are starting to add up and make sense for me now. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge on this specific subject! ❤🙌🏾
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Im 4'11 and yes, that is exactly what hapoens. I increase my cardio and my hunger shoots through the roof. I had a feeling i shoukd switch to mainky strength training.
I'm so glad I found this channel. I'm 5'3" and 3/4 and have struggled to lose the baby weight. Prior to pregnancy I was always on the thinner side but my body has changed so much :(
The cardio thing makes sense. I've been very slowly introducing gentle or short cardio workouts along with weight training combined with leaning more low carb (NOT KETO, just less pasta and rice) and I'm not losing fast by any means, but I feel stronger and less out of control with my cravings. It's been nice to not feel out of control for once.
Absolutely agree with everything besides the need to go to gym to lose fat and build muscle, not true I’m on my 4th journey and never had a gym membership def can use weights for legs and body for home workouts as well as HITT, Pilates and Calisthenics..❤️❤️
I'm around 4'10 (150 cm) and to be in calorie deficit I'm supposed to consume 1200 calories a day. It wasn't TOO hard, but it still felt like a "starving" kind of diet, so I looked it up and I found out about intermittent fasting. I wanna say that I was not overweight, but I just didn't feel confident in my body and I was sooooo self-conscious about it, and I wanted to change in a health way. I started intermittent fasting (I eat from noon to 8pm and then I fast until the day after around 12 and it's working great for me) I started at 114 a month ago and now I'm down at 103 still going. I suggest you to try intermittent fasting. Do some research about it, there's plenty of information out there. It's not supposed to be a diet, but kinda of a life style. If I remember, I'll update you guys along the way. Good luck to everyone! We've got this!
@@Zzucia hi there! it's been a while since I have posted this comment. I wanna be honest with you, intermitting fasting was absolutely deleterious for me and my body. I realized only a few weeks in that I was using it as an excuse to starve myself and cut down on calories a lot. I ended up becoming sick and having to go "all in" and try to fix my relationship with food. ever since then, I have adopted a new perspective on my fitness and health journey. I now eat a lot healthier, more fueling and satisfying foods that make me happy and don't deprive my body of what it needs. I exercise, but don't over do it. its actual crazy how much more enjoyable exercise can be when you actually have the energy to do it. to answer your question... I cut out everything that was deemed "bad", but it ended up biting me in the ass, eventually. if you are trying to lose weight, please, please, PLEASE, do so in a healthy weight. it takes a lot of patience but, trust me, yoyo dieting will not do it. you'll just gain all the weight back. steady and slow weight loss is the only kind of weight loss that is sustainable and permanent. lots of love from Amsterdam
@@elenaspano5067 Thank you so much for the reply. I've been getting kinda desperate in my desire to get skinnier lately and so this reminder came at the right time so I don't fall into extremes. I'm glad you're in a better place currently, and I wish you success in all your goals!
Yes! I’m so glad I found your page! I’m 5’2 and I had my 4th child, December 2019, and I still have about 18 pounds to lose. I workout 3-4 times a week and eat balanced, but my hormones are still all over the place. I have been beating myself up because, by this point with my first 3 kids, I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight by the time they were around 12 months old. This video was so helpful!
I'm 5'2'', 170 lbs (actually just saw 169 for the first time in YEARS the other day but it's xmas so...we'll see what happens) and I've definitely gotten 1200 and lower when calculating my cutting calories, especially when the TDEE calculator takes my (estimated) body fat percentage into account. It's dismal, but I've begun to eat 1600 cals a day naturally by pumping more protein into my diet (lots of low fat yogurt, eggs, fish, some chicken but not much) and I've lost 20 lbs...over the course of like... a year. So yes, it might be slow if you only focus on nutrition, but it can be done; I get very anxious about working out because I was bullied during PE so I'm avoiding running until I lose a bit more weight. Going for walks is always doable though!

5ft, 145lbs. I've lost weight in the past with clean keto and IF.. ate 1400-1600, was down to 119. Somewhere along the way the fasting took hold of my appetite and was eating less and less. My metabolism definitely took a toll and started going in reverse. Getting back to it now
Hey April, I've just discoverd your channel. I'm in my fittness journey for some time now, but as you've said in this video jo-jo effect got me many times. I have never thought that my height matters at all. I'm 5'0 weighing 112 lbs and can very easily build muscles. There is one problem...my metabolism is great. Where is the problem?, you would ask. I'm constantly hungry (I can easily eat 2700 kcal a day on an 80/20 diet). OK, some time ago I've noticed I binge eat and fall into an 'emotional eating' (as a result of anxiety not a depression/eating disorders). I've downloaded your workout guide and will be looking into it. I'm so happy that I discovered you 😊 Stay strong fellow petite ladies 😉
So happy I found your channel! Been on 1272 kcals for 1,5 years, experiencing binge episodes and never really reached my goal. Everytime I lost a little bit of weight, I gained it again or even more, bc its almost impossible for me to stay on that 1272 kcal-level. I tried several calorie-calculators, they were all around 1200...:')
5'3". Used to be a mail carrier in Iowa. Six plus hours a day of walking no matter the weather six days a week. The only thing I miss about that job was that I could eat pretty much anything I wanted without losing weight.
THIS IS MY LIFE!!! 😢 I’m in several workout communities, one is a challenge. I do the exact workouts and never understood why I can’t burn as many calories as ANYONE ELSE
The advice in this video is spot on! Listen to it. I found out some things the hard way, lol. In the past couple of years, I did Intermittent fasting and ate only 2 meals a day in a caloric deficit and my metabolism slowed down A LOT. I also didn't really lose much weight. I'm doing more exercise now, almost daily (30' LISS cardio + whatever a strength workout lasts), eating every 3-4 hours (still in a caloric deficit), tracking my macros and hoping to get my metabolism firing again. I'm improving my lifestyle, basically, not following a diet -- this is what you want to do, to follow a healthy plan for life and adapt it as you go, not look for short term success (it doesn't last and probably doesn't even exist either). Don't do intermittent fasting, people, your body will not trust you to feed it and it will hold on to that fat like it's the zombie apocalypse! Feed your muscles properly, work out, and you will lose fat as a consequence.
Finally I've found a video that really describes everything that I go through! I'm petite too and I always got 1200 (or even less) in the kcal calculator if I wanted to loose weight I loved all your tips! How many kcal should I eat if I'm just starting to build muscle? I don't want to go all the way up to 2000 kcal because I'm scared I will gain weight.
Finally I found my people
My whole life I’ve been told that I’m delusional because no matter what I do my metabolism is slow and people say I’m just lazy but I love walking and and I’m always moving so.... I feel justified!

Yeah like of im looking at a larger size then i must automatically be taller!!! Its so annoying. Ive resigned to just make my own clothes now.

I didn't gain any weight, but I didn't lose any either and I FELT AWFUL. Now I know I need to actually add on more calories but not sure what healthy things to add bc THERE'S SO MANY OPINIONS OUT THERE. I've also been doing ballet barre workouts and love them!!

@@Naaaxy what’s NEAT?
@@maryphantomhive7310 non exercise activity thermogenesis, so things like walking more, playing with your dog, cleaning your house, etc all add up to increase your NEAT and therefore increase your TDEE :)
Yes, I am 5'1 and lost 35 pounds with some strength training but mostly cardio-- walking, hiking, some jogging. Cardio isn't bad.
1) Fitness: for a lean look & gaining muscle for an increased matabolism by lifting weights 3-4x per week;
2) Cardio: not too much! This leads to increased hunger, which could lead to eating more; also muscle tissues may be broken down. Better: little cardio;
3) Nutrition: Food journal for three days to get an overview (How much processed food?) - More nutricious whole foods and more protein (~ 1g/pound Body weight)
4) Water intake: less bloat/water retention - 2-3 Liters daily!
5) HIIT/cardio: always after the lifting sessions for maximizing results!
Good luck on your Journey, petites! I am starting today 🍀💪🏼

As for their logic. I believe they purposely try to underestimate activity level so that they believe their deficit is lower, therefore lose weight faster and justify under-eating :/

Any advice?
Did you try ditching cardio from your routine?
You're potentially overtraining and need to give your nervous system a rest!
Loving it!

Wow, I just found this and it was packed with new info! I’m 5’2” and I’ve been doing lots of cardio then lifting... I knew it wasn’t the best but you explained it so well! I do get 1200 cals in my apps:/
OMG yasssss i am 4'11 and have had this problem ALL my life.
As a 4ft6 woman, I’m so glad I found this channel!
Omg yes! 5’0 here. I swear if I had more height I wouldn’t have these rolls 🙄🙄
I always think about that. 😥😂
This video was super helpful for my 5'1" 95 lb self
Though days when I didn't work out, or burned fewer calories really sucked.
content i didnt know i needed. hello fellow petite women!
I’m 4"11 & 3/4 I’m 121 lbs. I’m starting my weight loss journey. I will give updates. Wish me good luck.
I'm the same height but trying to get to 121. Please let me know what worked for you in this journey.
@@Permissiontospeakwithdrjuliana I will don’t worry, right now I just started to workout more than I usually do, but my diet has been horrible
@@adrianagalindo7797 Good luck to you!
I lost motivation tho so that's mainly the reason why I went back into my old habits, (binging junk food etc) so I gained it all back
I'm very serious about it this time and I also got a lot of time on my hands now because school only starts in 3 months. so my goal is to achieve some visible results by then, like not necessarily a major glow up but I'd like to see some big changes because I'm currently overweight.
I wanna look better for school, I don’t use a scale anymore due to issues but I think I’m around 118-120 and I’m 5’0 but my body it’s just shaped like a door and I have a belly ): hate pants on my body but wanna wear them so so bad and like myself in them
I’ve been eating 1000 calories a day for over a month because of calorie calculators, and haven’t lost any weight. Thank you for letting me know
Out of all the weightloss videos I've watched this one was the most helpful! Things are starting to add up and make sense for me now. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge on this specific subject! ❤🙌🏾
My whole life I’ve been made fun of for being short, it brings me so much comfort to see people like me here.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Im 4'11 and yes, that is exactly what hapoens. I increase my cardio and my hunger shoots through the roof. I had a feeling i shoukd switch to mainky strength training.
Thank you!!! As 5'1 person my fitness journey has stalled. I am learning alot from you.
Were there any changes you did to your diet while intermittent fasting? Like cutting sugar or dairy or anything else?

Subbed! Thank you so much for this video!! I was already cutting my cardio at the gym bc I noticed what a hangry monster I turn into lol
I’m 4ft 9 inch, in my 30’s and having such a hard time now loosing. I’m going to try this out.
So glad I found your channel! I’m really hoping to find a method that works for me
I'm 5'2'', 170 lbs (actually just saw 169 for the first time in YEARS the other day but it's xmas so...we'll see what happens) and I've definitely gotten 1200 and lower when calculating my cutting calories, especially when the TDEE calculator takes my (estimated) body fat percentage into account.
This helps a lot and makes the weight loss process less overwhelming
I am 4”11 I was 142 before and I am 117 now my goal is 105 hopefully

5ft, 145lbs. I've lost weight in the past with clean keto and IF.. ate 1400-1600, was down to 119. Somewhere along the way the fasting took hold of my appetite and was eating less and less. My metabolism definitely took a toll and started going in reverse. Getting back to it now

Your probably the tallest one here 😂
@happy face no! She stated 5'4" and under as short!so yes I belong.
5’1 and I got back 1200 calories to eat as a deficit and I was starving ! Lol
This, this is my life! Unfair lol
Wonderful and informative video! Thank you April!!😍🥰
You just described the body I'm setting my goals to. Thank you. Very informative
I feel like that now . I’m doing intermittent fasting and I am not losing any fat 🥴
I really love this video! And it opened up my eyes on what i’ve been doing wrong the whole time. Thank you for this!
I'm 4'11, I got 1,140 calories. So crazy.
Finally I've found a video that really describes everything that I go through! I'm petite too and I always got 1200 (or even less) in the kcal calculator if I wanted to loose weight
I loved all your tips! How many kcal should I eat if I'm just starting to build muscle? I don't want to go all the way up to 2000 kcal because I'm scared I will gain weight.
