@@shaggybaggums Remember the old saying "If they claim it was theirs, then it's official lore." Saw that quote in a Parody series about Disney characters getting PTSD from Vietnam War. So far so good that they didn't "claim" that parody.
Even during their duel of Mustafar Obi-Wan was mostly on the defensive because Anakin was probably the most aggressive lightsaber duelist in the order at that time
7:30 That is EXACTLY the point according to Dave Filloni. Obi Wan did his best to teach Anakin, but he only knew how to teach him as a brother, where what he needed was for Qui Gon to be his father. He said that the "Duel of the Fates" where Qui Gon dies is a literal duel for the fate of Anakin, whether he will fall to the dark side, or stay in the light, and they lost that duel.
If you dont know, the creators included Vader's aggressive fighting style shown in other star wars media (games, comic books especially), where he would use brute force and hard hitting strikes against opponents. Also, thanks to his prosthetics and replaced limbs, Vader has a strength boost, in which he uses this to his advantage by making his strikes hit heavier, as shown in the scene. Add on to the anger and hate he has kept inside for 20-30 years just for Obi wan, Vader is just ready to beat him down. Possibly one my favorite SW reimagines out there. Please upvote so others can see why this is a fan masterpiece.
Being such a huge Star Wars fan i'm surprised you haven't seen this already. Some people have already said it, but you should really look into Shards of the Past after this.
Fun fact: The moment when Obi-Wan became one with the force is one of the few times Darth Vader were TERRIFIED. He did not know what happened and he recalled Obi saying "if you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine".
If you haven't seen it yet, there is a Darth Maul fan film called "Apprentice" I think, and it's really good. There's also a KoToR fan film called Rescue Mission which is also really good.
I prefer the prequels over the OG, and while the movies have some issues, RotS makes it up for it. I just wish we had a longer take on the Yoda vs Palpatine duel.
The guys who made this, are not amateurs but pro VFX artists & stunt performers, who worked among other things on Netflix's Daredevil & Punisher shows. This was in fact directed by the stunt coordinator of Daredevil, Phillip Silvera who also worked on Winter Soldier and various other big blockbusters.
Did you ever see the letters Alec Guinness wrote to some friend of his during the filming of Star Wars? He was very unimpressed by it but was like 'oh well, it's a paycheck' sort of attitude, lol.
Vader fights with something farther, deeper than rage in this fight. He is consumed with wrath and wields it like a storm of darkness and suffering. To me, that is the epitome of Darth Vader(post mustafar) unleashed.
If you like the callbacks to the prequels then you'd probably love the video "Obi-Wan has PTSD" it's a fan edit that hits really hard emotionally and definitely is worth a watch.
What I really enjoyed about this video, the first time I saw it. Were the great emotional undertones. From the use of the music, such as "Anakin's Dark Deeds" and "Padme's Funeral Suite" were placed so perfectly...added to the tone of the scene flawlessly. And even right down to the saber duel itself. The whole time, you can literally FEEL Anakin's rage behind his saber strokes, as he tries to physically overpower his old Master. But, what ultimately brought tears to my eyes...was how I don't believe Obi Wan expected to leave the Death Star alive. Obi Wan, at this point was in his late sixties? Early seventies? He had lived a full, and fulfilling life. But knew, that he could not truly be at peace unless he faced his former apprentice one last time. And by the time, that the original audio of Revenge Of The Sith played I was balling. Because even though all that time had passed, Obi Wan, never stopped loving Anakin as a brother.
@@CraigMcGuinn, in his duel with Vader he was also using a very dangerous force technique that enhances his reflexes & speed but it burns you out if used too often Obi-Wan was literally burning to death

If you haven't already watch VADER episode 1, its made like this but all original footage, set shortly after Vader gets his suit. It is effing amazing.
I love the SC Reimagined. Vader is Rage personified. Every swing of the saber is meant to kill. When he's opting to not use the saber, he's just punching Obi-Wan. I like how they fix the issue of Obi-Wan calling him "Darth" in the initial movie by having Vader attack mid-sentence. And uses the force for simple tasks like picking up a saber or taking his own out of the holster.
This and the Rouge One hallway scene are excellent examples of Darth Vader in the Star Wars universe. He became the ultimate aggressive duelist while Obi One became the ultimate defensive duelist. Obi One was an immovable object while Darth Vader was an unstoppable force. Two sides of the same coin. Its also why Vader became such a feared figure. Him showing up somewhere was basically a death sentence for the other side.
i don’t think it has been explained what actually happened to Obi / Ben’s lightsaber. there is a theory that Luke used the parts of Ben’s Saber to build his own but i don’t recall Luke ever acquiring Ben’s Lightsaber at any point. i could be wrong thou it’s been i little while since i watched Star-wars so i’m a little rusty.

A star wars fan film I can't recommend enough is star wars the old republic rescue mission it is very well done and their isn't a lot of reaction videos for it.
I genuinely wish Disney would push star Wars to its fullest potential. They have all the budget in the world for it, man. I want to see force users like how the books and the Forced Unleashed depicts them, gritty, realistic ground battles set in star Wars, with actors trained to move, shoot, (and fucking aim) realistically and tactically. Space battles to the scale of the 2003 cartoon network clone wars. THAT, to me, is the only logical steps to progress star wars. Introduce the new stories and character, sure, but give the universe the SCALE and epicness it deserves.
I just want to see the Old EU be revived and updated with modern animation and graphics for remastered and possible new games. Can you imagine an M Rated horror game based directly off the novel "Death Troopers" or what it was like for a lucky NR soldier that fought and survived the entirety of The Yuuzhan Vong War? I could list 100 other things but I'd just be going on a nostalgia seasoned rant 😅

The reason this didn't happen in the Star Wars universe,1 Is because Vader's body was mechanical which didn't allow him to do what he used to,2 He was also cautious when facing him as he learned from when they last faced off to not underestimate him,3 Then Obi Wan had been two decades without a proper fight or training and he was extremely slow from being in his 60s, So that is why this didn't happen. Now this is why it didn't happen in the Star Wars universe, The real reason is this was the first movie so they didn't have much budget.
The original 1976 production was getting so tight on budget, they couldn't afford a fight director or stunt doubles. David Prowse could barely see out of that mask and Alec Guinness wasn't a fighter-actor. Additionally, the original lightsaber props were delicate and couldn't survive hard impacts.
