I am so jealous of your composure on the ball. A harmless backpass from a teammate panics me more than being three on one with the opposition strikers. It's because my first touch, passing accuracy, and above all long kicking suck. I'd be happy just to hoof it up the field every time but, despite extensive practice, I can't hit the centre circle. I'm great on the line but that's about it.
Something that really improved my feet and composure has been playing a lot of pick up in the field. During my offseason or if I'm out of contract I'd spend a lot of time playing in the field which really improved my ability and confidence. I really think that's one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to improve your feet.
@@GKGOLUREMI That's a great idea. Did you play a particular position, or is there a position that keepers are particularly suited to or can learn from, in your view?
Great video again Tyler! Seems like we're super local - I remember those vids from Lewinsville in McLean, now you played at VA Revs, just had a tourney there! Love the content
Not sure why this ended up in my feed. But i am sad man now. Reminds me of when i played, before sweeper keeper became an accepted thing, 1999-2005. We played an aggressive trap with our sweeper being the fastest player on the field to defend corner balls. I would suck up attackers by keeping the ball at my feet while defenders would push up. The attacker would then have to run to get back onside or stay out of a lost possession. I could throw 50yds with velocity, float, curve, and/or straight. (Your looking off, to throw to the midfielder) i was also a picher/3rd basemen. I loved punting it in front of the other box. A good high kick-high bounce at the half circle, you can get the GK to leave their line but never able to field the ball. Or low liners straight to the forward's chest, he could field it or turn and let it through.(this ball took a lot of practice to get the drop kick consistently) My whole playstyle was putting opponents in conflict. Long balls could cause an immediate counter off my touch. we smothered possession with 9 defenders. Sorry for the passed my time rant. Anyways, good luck
Hello Sir and thank you so much for all the great content! My 7 yrs old son has began his path to becoming a legit GK. I have him in a GK specific trading camp (he’s the youngest there) and I want to put together a training set up in our backyard to practice the other days of the week. My question is, what size goal should I purchase for the yard to practice catches, dives positioning, etc…?
great review, love the 2 points of not letting the ball bounce on the long ball and cover the goals even when the ball goes over with your hands. I often leave it and I think this punishes me for not trying to save the impossible ones. ..
@GK GOLUREMI, I love your videos and you have really helped me improve as a keeper, I was wondering if there was anyway to get a jersey for any team you've played with. I would love to wear some of your merch while I'm practicing or just playing with my friends.
Unfortunately my Finnish club ended up semi-folding a year or two ago so don't think they sell anything anymore. And in Croatia selling jerseys apparently isn't something even half of the clubs do. Maybe, it will be possible for the next contract I end up signing.
I think one of the best ways is just to be aggressive in training when trying to play off your line. If you make a mistake there it's not a big deal and should give you a decent idea of what balls you can and can't come for in a match. Also, in a match if you misread a ball don't think that means you need to stay on your line for the rest of the match. Confidence plays a huge role when playing as a sweeper keeper.
@GK GOLUREMI yeah I'll probably try to be more aggressive in training. Do you think having astigmatism could be one of the factors of misreading the ball? This might be a dumb question
I kinda lack on confidence side ...bcz all my teammates are older then me and they shout at me when ever i make a wrong pass or the pass i make was not of their liking ... because of this i lose my focus on the game and end up making more mistake ..... How do i build my confidence ...
A lot building confidence is just from improving your play and becoming a more experienced player over time. So mostly just work on improving whatever you think the weak points of your game is. As far as dealing with your teammates, if what they are saying isn't constructive/helpful just do your best to ignore them. After a mistake in a match just try to forget it and focus on the next play. Then after the match think about what you should have done better. Because like you said if you focus too much on the negativity of your own players it will make it harder to focus on the match.
This is a real journey, much appreciated and fresh perspective on real moments in US soccer. Keep it coming

He's too young to dedicate fully to goalkeeping. Have him develop his feet

Try to make confident saves, trx to punch balls first when u have high balls, and then it will come slowly

what goalkeeper gloves do you use

6:48 do you think the gk should have been out of the goal area and then he would be able to get those kinds of balls before the strikers?
the game seems so much slower compared to europe
