Anvil Gladiator is awesome!

- I finally got my hands on an Anvil Gladiator bomber in Star Citizen. Been wanting this ship for a long time and was finally able to upgrade to it. Love the size 5 missiles and it is a pretty effective way of doing bounties and making quick credits. Will definitely do more videos with chaining several VHRT bounties together.

My favorite 'underdog', the Gladiator! Classic looking beauty. Handles well, and she's fairly tanky, too. Top speed is low, so you really have to stay in the fight till the end with her.
When you can get size 5 infrared or EM torps again, it will help a lot. Eventually the Torpedo bay is supposed to be able to hold a cargo rack, similar to the Aurora, something like 2-3 scu's worth.
It's been a long time since they have done anything for the Gladiator. I really hope they bring her up as they have done with nearly all the other ships. I know this gem has the potential to really shine.
@Marqushio I'm really, really starting to like this ship. I always wanted one and was finally able to get it. I know people are saying that it is outdated and old, and it is, but I just love it. Yeah, it has some weird flying characteristics in atmo and yes, it can use a big update but I'm looking forward what CIG can do with this ship. It is definitely a keeper for me.
It's very effective in a wolf-pack with light and medium fighters. A very good force multiplayer. I loved equipping NDB's for guns and Rattler 2's for the missiles. I don't remember which torpedo I used, but it became a very effective PVE and PVP killer. Don't underestimate this ship.
@Squirrel Lord's Gaming And it is relatively tough as well, definitely not a dog fighter but does well enough for PVE even against more nimble targets.
This is one of those unique ships that are fun to fly and fun use to do NPC bounty missions. I really like the look, it is in the same cool category as the Terrapin, I think they are related, LOL!

Just so you know, Size 5s are actually classified as Torpedoes and will have difficulty maneuvering to hit smaller ships like Heavy Fighters/Hurricanes. That's why you had no issues targeting and hitting the Anvil Valkyrie with your last torp at the end but had to fire three to eventually hit the right Hurricane. (your first torp hit another fighter ironically. lol ) Size 5s are great for Valkyries and up. And yeah, as you know, you are limiting yourself without a gunner. Thats where the Gladiator really shines.
@The Huntress Gocha, I was even having issues with locking onto those ships. It would achieve full lock and then loose it briefly. Fact that those are size 5 torps is even better. I know some do not like them but I absolutely love torpedoes. I did watch it later and that other ship that got hit was definitely there at the wrong place and at the wrong time. Can't wait to try it with a ginner to fully realize Gladiator's potential. I find it enjoyable to fly but it does have a weird flight model that I will have to get used it. Especially when you are above SCM speed.
There are now both size 5 torpedoes and size 5 missiles. The Gladiator only uses torpedoes. You can put 2 size 5 missiles on the Ares, it's very impressive.
Torpedoes normally are available in Infrared and Electromagnetic, however it broke in 3.17 and has yet to be fixed. EM torps worked best. They were faster to lock, usually didn't lose their lock, and seemed to perform slightly better. I don't know if they were slightly more agile or just harder to decoy.

@Bandy-Chan Handling wise it can get little stupid in atmo but otherwise it feels lot more nimble then it should. I certainly enjoy flying it and it is a good money makes when you go bounties.

Its the worst ship,,even worse then the ion,,,,dont waste your time,,it looks great but its a tank,,not any good for combat,,oh well,,fly the scorpius ,,its worth it,,,i even bought it,,its amazing
lacks firepower for the size and cost. but is really good looking, hopefully a future gold pass will elevate it
@alvarg Exactly, needs update from CIG asap but I still fly it because it looks great and just has that something special about it.
I loved flying this one in previous patches. I think I need to grind to get one again. It's and older ship, but still good. I'd love to see extra paint jobs for this one. Good looking ship.
@Squirrel Lord's Gaming I really like it also, just keep coming back to it. Just feels right to fly it. Not too good in atmo, there you can really tell that it is more of a bomber then a fighter but still is one of my favorite ships.
And mine, just wish it would get a little love from CIG
@velocitymg Just like the Terrapin, it feels somewhat abandoned by CIG. Hopefully they will get around to these ships eventually.
You can bind the hailing atc to keyboard. You don't Lose visibility while doing it.

I love the Gladiator's style but never bought one because it's always been a cursed ship I hear. When it gets its gold standard re-work it will be more popular and it's a Squadron 42 ship so it should happen sooner than later. As one of the older OG series ships it needs lots of updates. The S5s are technically anti-ship torpedoes instead of fighter so are great for med-larger slower ships and capital ships. The upcoming Xeno Threat event will bring multiple pirate Idris to use torps on as we defend a UEE Javelin. The same one we tour during Invictus Launch Week for the spring event.
@eltreum1 Oh yeah, I can't wait to take my Gladiator and Eclipse and fire some torpedoes at an Idris. Gladiator sure does need lots of love from CIG. While still fun to fly, it does feel little old when compared to other ships that have came out in the last year or two.
if you like the gladiator you should give the Vanguard Harbinger a try. It got 1 less S5 Torp but handles WAAAY better and has really good pilot controlled dps.

The reason i dont use this ship is the restock bug where it puts the missiles into station inventory instead of the ship. Its a great way to do bountys fast.
@phoenixsui Yeah that big is very annoying when you are just trying to get the bounties done. Same thing happens with my Eclipse. This restock bug has persisted for a while now.
Once they add atmospheric flight these ships with wings will be better. Hope they get AI blades as well.

SCM speed impacts lock on and accuracy, you were going too fast. Also not a bad video suggest using erkul so when you discuss loadout you can be accurate, this ship can be purchased in game like most ships. Someday when we have AI blades this will be a monster ship to solo with. I really like the design but all your power is in the turret.
@Bat 21 It feels really lot better with a turret gunner but it is a capable ship if used appropriately. I'm really starting to like it.

@VALOUR It sure does. Anything above SCM in atmo and you loose almost all maneuverability.

Sadly they nerfed it, but there was a loadout that was very nasty on the gladiator hehehe

@Scott Currently they have the Lunar celebration going and ship is available for sale on the website for real money. I just upgraded one of my ships to the Gladiator. So didn't have to spend that much and I get to enjoy it for a while.

@Spike2023 Individual preference I suppose but it is pretty good money maker when it comes to doing bounties and does not feel as sluggish as other bombers.
Apart from the abysmal handling in atmo its actually a good ship for taking out VHRT's, shit bomber though.

Its the worst ship in the verse,,,fly the arrow alot better,if u want size 5s weapons,,get the harbinger or sentinal,,,,it does every sort of vhrt,,its only 2mill in game,,i loved the look,,then flew it in free ship week,,i was so super dissapointed with gladiator,,but it looks good
Yeah I had the same experience as you. I basically took off, headed to Port Tressler, and by the time I arrived, turned back around to get rid of it asap. This ship handles and manoeuvres badly.
@hanzy G I'm just enjoying it for now. I will say that it has a very weird flight model especially in atmo with pretty slow SCM. But for now it is fun.
@MCAD DC No argument on the handling. It feels like it would be nimble but it is not.

The Gladiator needs some love, that part is true. People dump on it so much and sound just as stupid as when they used to dump on the Hurricane... then along came capacitors and Oh! All of a sudden the Hurricane is slept on! People never cease to amaze me with their nearsightedness. The Gladiator is a very unique looking ship with a great setup of weaponry and cockpit layout. Whenever CIG gets around to it and gives it an update pass, all will be well.
