I’ve never understood why Raul isn’t more celebrated on Broadway he is the male equivalent of a Broadway Diva and should be as celebrated as Patti, Bernadette and Idina
Don't know how I ended up here, I have no idea what this musical is about, but the raw emotion in this performance just made me cry. You just 100% believe whatever character he is playing, no he BECOMES that character.
Wrote this many moons ago wth Boy George and Richie Stevens. That is a great performance from Raul. The original we recorded with George singing and is very different, quite "Oasisy" in a way and understated. It takes on a different shape in muscial theatre.
Agree. The score is criminally underrated and just about perfect. Honestly the best pop musical score out there. The arrangements in particular are stunning, especially in the harmonizing.
I am a baritone and I cannot even TELL you how sad I am that these songs are just a tad out of my range. Raul Esparza is what some might call a baritenor, but the way he sings he can effectively deliver in the high range in the way tenors can. (sigh)
He has such an amazing voice and the emotion he puts into the song brings me to tears watching it. This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard (along with il adore) and he is amazing (so is Paul Baker!!)
This show did not get the recognition it deserved. Maybe it was too gay for the times, but I’ve always loved it. I love this and the west end version even though they’re very different shows
This is amazing. Listening to the song is one thing, but watching the performance makes it 100 times better. I wish I had seen this live. It is truly brilliant.
@TigerPrawn_ Nah, I'm not gay, or even bi, I've been married for almost 20yrs, but I can appreciate Mr. Esparza. Now back in the day during my hedonistic days, we might be having a different conversation!
Then he passed out! Kidding, but oh my god. I am a singer and I am tired just watching this. The final lift up to the belted ... That's probably a B? Not only is that incredibly difficult itself, THEN he full belts it. Wow, that's some control.
It's a crime that this man has not been given a Tony yet.
You are so right!
I agree ☝️

@@alexhale3531 I couldn’t agree more
His Bobby and Emcee were both beyond compare. A really gifted person.
I was there opening night of Taboo and I could not believe that Raul held that note for so long
I cry every time I hear Raul sing this song but I love it so much I can't stop myself... If anyone EVER deserved a TONY Raul does, ITA Anthony...vvv

Agreed
The show is called Taboo, and it is about the life of Boy George. It’s a beautiful musical.

Wow. Amazing song! Are there any piano sheets online? Would love to play this.
Well done! What a beautiful song.
Was there a cast album and if so why wasn't this on it? Shocking that his rendition is nowhere to be found to be downloaded
This is the most moving, finest performance of a song I have ever seen on a stage. Brings me to tears every single time.
Listen to him singing ' Being Alive '
The most perfect performance of a song. I saw Taboo 3 times in a short window, and that score was beyond perfect!

I was lucky enough to be there for closing night. What an amazing performance. Almost 10 years ago. Crazy
I love this song & hearing Raul Esparza sing it is Wow-No Words 💙
His singing is always so full of emotion. He’s astounding and so talented.

@@griffisjm who you intrinsically are doesn't change just bc you got married. congrats on two decades tho, sheesh!
I hate it when people clap too early. Let the song finish for the love of god
where can I see raul live... is he doing any shows now?
