The Unnamed is not called so because they don’t want anything to do with the Dark Angels and their secrets, but because they see themselves as unworthy of a name and home world do to the heavy guilt they feel. The Unnamed have vowed to never cease the hunt for the fallen until they are all eradicated.
Isn’t that a fruitless endeavour though? I mean such is 40k but like they are scattered across space and time and not to mention they’re also joining their ranks
It's a bit on the nose tbh. A baby salamander is a newt or axolotl....entirely aquatic. It almost like GW went: "Hmmm successors = young." "Young = baby." "Baby salamander = newt.....give them a water planet."

It's awesome to see my Storm Reapers get some attention. There's actually a little bit more information about them from the Dawn of Fire novel Iron Kingdom by Nick Kyme. That book wasn't well received, but the Storm Reaper Ogin is one the best characters. Here are a few more facts about the Reapers that I've catalogued from that book: - They all carry a ceremonial szabla blade (google it if you're curious what it looks like) - They're known for quickly reading terrain and using it to their advantage in battle - They have a tendency to seek out a glorious death (did they learn about Jaghatai in the SOT?) - They lost an entire company in the Iron Kingdom conflict, barring Ogin - Ogin took big issue with Marines Malevolent sacrificing civilians - "Jagun hak sang tal!" translates to 'For Jagun I give my blood!' in their native language Thanks for giving my Reapers some love Valrak!
Space Wolves have at least 2 more Icefangs who are specialists in Rune Priest ( I actually entered them for the Successor story contest, no colour scheme given) and the Moon Eaters (created by WhiteDwarf writer)
My homebrew chapter that I’m making an army out of have the same scales of justice symbol as the bringers of justice but with a sword holding up the scales instead of the pole/stand
First two successor chapters Valrak speaks about (Storm Reapers and Dark Krakens) he is already speaking to my soul; White scars and Salamanders are my favourite of the loyalists.
Excellent video as always Chapter Master Valrak! However, I'd like to point out that the Sons of Russ have more than just one known successor (Wolfspear). There are also the Icefangs and Moon Eaters Chapters. The Icefangs are an esoteric Space Wolves Successor Chapter whose nucleus was formed of many of Crusade Fleet Primus's psychically inclined Space Wolves Greyshields. Meanwhile the Moon Eaters are a recognised Space Wolves Successor Chapter created during the Ultima Founding as well. They were created by White Dwarf employee Sophie Bostock and they were first featured in White Dwarf issue 459. Just thought you'd like to know.
I love The Dark Krakens. They are straight up monster hunters and their culture is all about hunting monsters. Their home world is a bit odd though. I beleive it is an Agriworld with monstrous fauna that the Imperium uses as a kelp farm.
@@BloodyArchangelus not buying them so they do not exist to me 😉 If lemartes is correct I will be interested to see if GW open themselves up to the clusterfuck of explaining how they wake him up from stasis just to primaris-ify him. I was really happy when they brought back Soul Drinkers, for narrative and personal reasons, the concept of bringing back chapters is itself so cool and its great to see this chapter specifically brought back, loved the OG books on them, I am hoping for more lore on the current Soul Drinkers, don't know if they have a homeworld this time or are still fleet based, don't know if Sarpedon is aware of them yet, so many possibilities. Wolfspear are contradictory, as in the 'only' sucessor, its lore that with the inception of the primaris that each OG legion was brough up to similar numbers, so how can space wolves be ONLY them and the wolf spears.
My homebrew successor chapter, is a chapter size chapter I started it in sixth edition to where in the ultima foundation Gilman took remnants of two other Ultramarine successors and added primaris. The new combined chapter is called Gems of Ultramar. I have 1300 dudes in it and so far 19,000 points of armory that still needs to be fleshed out.
Space Wolves are not just barbarians as most say, being berserkers is typical of young Blood Claws but later they become much more tempered and as Gray Hunters they have no problem with sneaking or using ambush tactics or sneaking up on the enemy. Sure, their tradition and something they really enjoy is fighting and gaining achievements and glory, but that doesn't make them mindless machines that only want to charge, so the Wolf Spear chapter is not non-SpaceWolfish at all
I would have preferred to see the Soul Drinkers have a redemption which would be cathartic for me. Would have been great if surviving original members, were told to show up to a Mechanicus world, and forcefully interred in dreadnoughts. Only after having their mutations surgically removed as best as possible. Then all dreadnoughts are forced to stay active as front line fighters on all deployments until death claims them all. Added with the twist of having the motivation of receiving redemption while living, they end up defying insane odds and while their walkers are almost always nearly destroyed in the wildest of combat, they remain alive. Thus, causing the Machanicus to keep up their end of the penance deal, forcing them to constantly assign far beyond the normal resources to them. Then give the dreadnoughts a nickname along the lines of "Resource Drinkers" or "Tax Collectors" or "The Great Burden".
My successor chapter is a chimeric gene-seed of Salamanders, Raven Guard, Iron Hands, and Ultramarines. Official records are Salamanders successors though 🎉🎉🎉 😘
I wouldn’t describe the Dark Krakkens as “opposite” to the Salamanders. Yes, their home planet is an ocean world, while Nocturne is a dry, hot, volcanic planet. But otherwise, from what I’ve seen, both chapters are still rather similar. They both hunt dangerous beasts on their respective home worlds and have great respect for them. Both are loyalist chapters and of course embody traits of Vulkan. And I haven’t seen anything clearly stating they don’t care about civilians or are hostile towards them. The Krakens come from a watery background, while the Salamanders come from a fiery background. Otherwise they seem similar to me. They’re more like two sides of the same coin, and not polar opposites to each other. Now the Marines Malevolent are definitely the opposite of the Salamanders.

Silver Skulls were supposed to be White Scars successors but GW made the books author change them into Ultramarines (confirmed it on Twitter). White Scars take the skulls of the enemies the Master of the Hunt kills and coat them in Silver just like the Silver Skulls.
