Righton Colin! Grand to catch-up. A bloody sound hunt again, but by The Holy One, that BA tang-chisel is pure historical beauty and metallurgical magic, in my opinion. What a thing!. My village was a scene of press activity when the so-called 'Mylor Hoard' of thirty-three axe-heads was found in a field on it's out-skirts. They are great, and this BA tool here is exceptional, too. I have a flat copper-age axe-head (3500-2300 BC), that I found back in the 'days of analogue' ; it is a 'plain Jane' but 'tis my joy. The BA tang-chisel here is one of the best I've set eyes upon. It is a 'louster'👍 Cheers Colin.
Wow Tim thx for the info , only wish I’d found it ,Bronze Age would be my ultimate bucket list , Les the guy who found it is no stranger to the Ulster museum in Belfast and has some beautiful pieces on display there. Thanks for dropping by Tim 😎👊🏻
"What a beezzer" haven't heard that saying in years, we'll since I was in school lol. I used to have a musket bullet like that from a battle field in pennsylvania. Looked like a great day fairplay to you for braving that weather mate👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Geo. II silver! I once found a bracelet in the 25 cent basket at a Goodwill that was black. I gave it a little polish on my blouse & saw it was silver.
I’m sure that was a rather pleasant surprise for you 👍🏻😁 Great story , 25c , get in there , thanks very much for taking time out to comment , appreciate it 👍🏻🙏
I've just popped in to commend you for asking people if you can take their finds from their boxes. I think you're the only person I've seen who has done so while everyone else just dives in and grabs stuff, often right out of the finder's hand - even strangers. I think it's incredibly rude, so credit where it's due 🙂
Confirmed as a ring by archaeologist on site , late 17 to 18 hundreds , but yea I see where you’re coming from , yours sounds better than a picture hanger to be fair 😁
Fantastic hunt! Sorry I couldn’t make it. Definitely will try to make the next one. I was laughing at the Irish 2 pence you found! It’s actually a free state halfpenny! A (Piggy)😂 The hammy is fantastic and that kg2 looks very silvery, did ya get a year off it? Good show again!
Great to see you Colin mate, and you had a successful day in the marshes yourself my friend…..but wow, the BA tang chisel is a thing of beauty! Great fun & laughs at the end too! Good to see you pal
Thank you I’ve passed that info on to the finder , but at that stage he was inundated with the correct ID 😂, your input and knowledge is appreciated thank you 😎
Thanks Colin and user-ni1, appreciate the assistance in identifying the finds. Indeed it is a Henry VIII second edition silver Groat 1526-1540. Magic hunt and great bit o’craic. Hats off to all who made it a memorable day in Newtownbutler.
