  • With Jesus as Messiah, Peter anticipates the conquest of the Roman occupiers and a Jewish kingdom. But when Jesus surrenders to the authorities in Jerusalem, Peter panics. He denies knowing Jesus and is flooded with grief, but soon his hope is renewed when Jesus restores him.
    ABOUT THIS SERIES:
How did Peter transform from an uneducated fisherman into one of the most celebrated and beloved Jesus-followers in history? New Testament scholar Con Campbell (host of "In Pursuit of Paul") wanted to find out. It's one thing to read about people in Scripture. It's another thing to trace their life histories to more fully understand their backgrounds and the profound effect Jesus had on them. Con invites you to join him in his pursuit of Peter.
Explore the places where Peter lived and traveled, starting by the Sea of Galilee where he labored as a fisherman--an unlikely disciple, but purposely called by Christ. Continue the journey to Jerusalem, Turkey, Rome, and other locations where Con meets people who provide insights into Peter's passionate personality. You'll see the life of Peter unfold through Scripture, interviews, and stunning on-location footage.

Wow , I cannot believe it ! I met David and his wife about 7 years ago in Rhodes, Greece. I was working in the hotel he was staying renting cars. I was with a German client and he came to ask for information, the German client was very rude to him and told him to go away and wait for his turn. He was so polite and when he came I told him I’m sorry for the situation but he wasn’t angry at all. He was so kind and after a small conversation we realised we are both born again. I invited him for lunch to my parents house and he came with his wife . Both lovely people and great ambassadors of Jeshua ! I cannot describe how happy I am to see them in this beautiful series . God blessed them and bless you Con , beautiful series . I can’t wait for more !

When I think about the denial of Peter, I ask myself how many times I've denied JESUS. I denied CHRIST by choosing to react in anger and not love, choosing to fall into temptation, choosing to sin because of my desires. All these things I did for myself whilst denying JESUS when HE was there to give me a way out of my troubles. That's why the denial of Peter is so powerful because it shows if we do things out of selfishness we will deny CHRIST. Peter chose to save himself, I chose to please myself, and even then JESUS said "FATHER forgive them, for they know not what they do" Thank YOU JESUS for loving us when we couldn't love you.

The words of Jesus Christ that often comes to me is "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you."
Jesus also taught His disciples how to pray to Our Father...forgive us our sins...
He would not have prayed that if forgiveness of sins was not possible.

When Jesus said Peter you are the rock upon which I will build my church Jesus did not mean a building! Peter's motives?!
    He was terrified!
Years of riding the "Wave" with God's Son including miracles and now witnessing the terror of a crowd filled with ignorance and hatred looking for others to exterminate. Peter was in shock. Earlier, Jesus wept at the crowd's future convictions which is a powerful sign of the traumatic events. I challenge myself and others - "Are we following Jesus, the Apostles and the Bible or simply following the social norms and "rules & regulations" of our church?

You have to consider the possibility that he didn't! After all the incident does not get the slightest mention in any pre-Markan literature. If it really happened Paul would have used it against him. It is highly probable that the denying of Jesus is a fiction invented by Mark & repeated in subsequent redactions of his work by Matthew & Luke.

The name of Simon was changed to Cephas meaning Peter in English. Jesus is the rock and gave his name to Peter, because he will build his church (Catholic) on Peter. Some men give their son's their first name, it happens everywhere. Peter being the rock, doesn't in anyway undermine or deny the fact that Jesus is the rock of ages. Yes, Peter is the rock and Peter is not in competition with Jesus.

Peter is a gravel, Christ is the ROCK! The ___claim___ Peter made... is what the ECCLESIA would be built upon "Thou art the Christ !". The ecclesia, "the called out ones". Those who are "the called of God", called from beneath the rule of a worldly king, under the Lordship of the true King, the King of Kings which is Yeshua, Jesus the Christ of God.
The church in ambiguity as in a corporate observance, fails to establish the fundamental foundation of what the ecclesia truly was as is shown in the book of Acts. I am for what the true "church" is, but unfortunately church has become religion, a building, paid clergy and pragmatism. The ecclesia can never be replaced by man's institution.

False! That's not what the Bible taught, but lies you generated. Jesus established the Catholic church and handed it over to Peter to be the leader. Jesus in his omnipotent and omniscient nature will be with the Church until the enter of time. The church is built on Christ and Peter means rock. Jesus and Peter work together, they don't work differently

@@kelechukwuanosike767 Peter turned over the leadership of the local church in Jerusalem to James, therefore he was not even the leader of it (Acts 15). The word church was NEVER used in the original language, the word used in the original manuscripts was ecclesia. The ecclesia was changed to church - kyriokos/kyriokon by Constantine when making Christianity the state religion, thus satisfying the narrative of the day.
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18 He said "you are Peter" and on this rock, I will build my ecclesia. It is very clear what He means by what He says. Peter = petros (a stone), the rock = petra (a large mass of rock).
"Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:" 2 Peter 1:1
"The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:" 1 Peter 5:1
Jesus said go and make disciples, of which I am. Study.. to show your self approved. Seems you know NOT the truth, but lies you have been taught. I will pray that God will open your eyes and ears to TRUTH.

@@MotorsportDiesel False. You know nothing about Christain history. Yes, Peter was the first Bishop in Jerusalem, handed over to James, and Peter moved to Antioch where he became Bishop of Antioch and later moved to Rome where he became Bishop of Rome, for a much longer time and died there. Constantine was a convert to Catholic Christianity. Constantine was never a Pope and Constantine never founded any Church. There were 60 Popes before Constantine converted in the 4th century. Constantine supported and elevated the status of Catholic Christianity and made it a state religion, making it bigger and built a Basillicas. We thank Constantine, but Constantine is not a saint and not venerated in the Catholic church as a saint. You are filled with lies about Christianity because you read only the incomplete Bible. The name of our church is one, Holy, Catholic and apostolic church. All Christians were Catholics for the first 1000years, no exception. All Christians believed one thing and the Pope was the leader. The different churches are the different dioceses and Eparchies we have today

@@kelechukwuanosike767 Here is a novel idea: Try biblical scripture exegesis (Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic), anything else is mere conjecture and opinion. You don't know me well enough to say I know nothing, and certainly pride goes before destruction.

Why do continually insult God by refusing to use His divine title? His disciples called Him Master and Lord. You don’t. Your obviously not a disciple.
