I wonder if Dave is actually happy in this relationship. He seems so annoyed here.
Poor Dave. When he divorced his first wife he became a master of his life. He was in control of the house, TV, temperature, arrival and departure times. He had time to workout, and wasn't looking for another relationship. Everything he earned was his. Then as fate would have it he met Janie. She is beautiful and a catch, and I'm sure early in the relationship he thought he had the best of both worlds, a companion, a willing sex partner, etc. , but as time passed his share of the pie was constantly reduced. I'm sure he is excited to have a baby and would never trade his family life, but his life is nothing like he expected at this stage. He basically controls nothing. Dave doesn't waste a lot of energy on words, as sugar coating them this not result in change, so why not be direct and use inflection to get the message across. He does care about folks and doesn't forget important information, but often his good deeds are not appreciated or rewarded.
