That IT Crowd episode is hilarious
Gary Glitter wasn't asking all of us if we loved and wanted to touch him silly. He was asking the children.
Anything with Savile, Harris or Glitter in it. YIKES !
Good lawd. The IT Crowd episode hasn't aged badly. We are SUPPOSED tolaugh at that character and how shallow he is. The show isn't saying "he-he-, trans people are weird", it's saying "look at this idiot, look at his funny reactions."
Still doesn't excuse Linehan's transphobic comments in recent years.
The man who wrote the episode and created the show is one of the most prominent anti-transgender figures in Britain now. It's silly to do mental gymnastics and act like the joke was solely on Matt Berry. "He-he transgender people are weird" is very obviously one of the intended reactions. The joke is that Matt Berry's character is too stupid to realize the woman he's dating isn't actually a "real woman" when it's obvious because the character acts manly. Matt Berry's character's isn't presented as shallow for being upset, it's just supposed to be an exaggerated version of how Linehan would think any man would supposedly react if they found out they slept with a trans woman. It's clearly not some covert criticism of heterosexual males being shallow for not wanting to be with transgender women. This isn't people being offended because they're not getting the joke. It's you intentionally misrepresenting the joke so you can be condescending.
@@MateusHonrado
Transphobic ? No !
@@gunnerlangy Sorry but they were.
I loved that show but let us be real, if a writer is a transphobe then it's kinda obvious his "jokes" are centred around his obvious and public dislike of trans people.
Imagine that! A straight man not wanting to sleep with another man! How hateful! 🙄
It's a shame all those Death Eaters didn't use Avada Kadavra on Gary Glitter when they had the chance
This might just be the best comment I've read
0:50 I'd say thats the least unconfortable thing about that particular one
In the 4th Doctor Who serial "The Talons of Weng Chiang" (Season 14), at the beginning of each episode the BBC does a disclaimer "This episode contains outdated racially insensitive language and portrayals that may cause offense." Props to the BBC for acknowledging that.
i found out recently that a lot of their "culturally insensitive" content was partially removed due to licensing issues rather than anything "woke"
i mean if you've seen how the beeb has treated margianlised people in the past four years, i can't say they care about treating people all "PC". same with netflix.
Now do Top 10 TV Moments That Aged Like Fine Wine.
Good idea.
Gary Glitter's bad enough, but we're not gonna talk about the Klansmen he's performing with?
Without context that does look bad, but if you knew that behind said clothes were the duo that would become The KLF it makes a bit more sense. The garb was meant to be more to do with the Illuminatus cult (from a series of books written a decade before and something they would continue to draw from throughout their career), but in recent years I can see how the form of the outfits could be seen as something to do with the Klan.
Don’t know many KKK members who would dress in black robes do you?
Stop comparing old programs to todays standards. Different times and attitudes.
5:53 WHAT? Count Duckula? You've got to be joking me. I used to watch Count Duckula when I was a kid when it was on CITV, but when you watch the episode back then, I didn't realise at the time that caused a bit of a offense. They've got away with it back then years ago, but today it wouldn't work well, along with the Danger Mouse episode, The Wild, Wild, Goose Chase, which I didn't know was offense back then as well.
People need to have something to shout out.
I will always defend IT crowd. In the April episode Matt Berry doesn't hit her first, she hits him. He didn't hatefully attack her it was an equal/mutual combat.
That wasn't the only time Duckula went overboard on the racial stereotyping, the episode Open to The Public was pretty awful if memory serves
Come fly with me is halerious. Watched it on RUclips like two weeks ago.
It's pretty inevitable that there will be clips of instances where some of those disgraced since the Savile scandal broke will have been in the same programmes or shows. The pool of 'talent' was a bit more limited back then and the amount of tv channels/shows produced was too. But the sketch shows and the likes of Only Fools and Horses often have to be looked at in terms of 'of their time' and a reminder of how things have changed now we have a greater understanding of situations.
At number 7 I didn't know the kkk had their own burkas.
Why did that band on top of the Pops look like something from goblet of Fire😂You know the original death eaters before they changed them up in the next film
Omg YES😂
Deaf Eaters? PML
@@Hayden1969-ws4vy my bad however I just realised that when I Originally said this is a must to spell corrected I’ve fixed it now
Danger Mouse was guilty of racist caricatures on more than one occasion. Tong Rats, anyone?
Yeah I remember seeing that episode, and it's still on the streaming service Netflix. Even though that episode didn't age very well, but it got away with it back then, but in the present, it wouldn't work today.
@@marylynch948 Right. And don't get me started on El Loco.
@@williamcrowe2576 Oh I remember El Loco, a Mexican bandit, who wants to rob the Bank of England, and hiding Penfold's suitcase and he went loose and goes on a crime spree in London.
To suggest that David Baddiel is an anti-racist is almost as laughable as to say that he is a comedian. He is massively Islamaphobic and his apology for doing black face was disingenuous at best
Islam is not a race.
Most Muslims are a different race from him. His motives are racist.
And his use of fake antisemitism against people with whom he disagrees politically is absolutely disgraceful and disgusting.
@@TheKevinGHuttonNo one said it is. You must have missed the part where he painted his face black… that’s the racist part you doughnut.
Little Britain and come fly with me wasn't even that bad

You should go back and try to watch them now, it's a bit of an eye opener. 0_o
@@DokkaChapman I come from a time when that kind of humour was normal. Everyone is a snowflake nowadays
@@GuessMyName234 So do I, and I've managed to move on with the world and see it for what it actually is. The humour in Little Britain is hateful, and speaking as someone who has since come out I feel that the vast majority of their skits are just painful to look back on.
The Timelords became the justified ancients of mu mu then the Jamms the the KLF. Who quit the music business by firing a machine gun filled with blanks whilst playing a thrash metal version of one of their songs at the Brit awards. They then burnt 1 million pounds of their money......
Weren't they already the Justified Ancients? As I've always understood it, this was just a smash and grab, to make a point.
@@neildhan That's a good point. They did release stuff as The Jams around the same time as The TimeLords track.
How apt that I watched this right after re-watching This Morning With Richard, Not Judy Se2 Ep1, where they make a joke about a disease carried by bats that wipes us all out
who wrote the commentary ,thats aged badly
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
"I couldn't see anything in any of the characters that was empowering". Craig David really not getting what parody is. Did he say that he watched Spitting Image? 😂
We didn't know about rolf or Jimmy..
Nothing ‘ages horribly’. Times change, and so does our idea of what is and isn’t acceptable. When something we now claim to have ‘aged horribly’ was made the people making it believed *they* had their finger on the moral pulse. Sensibilities change, but ours aren’t correct just because they’re the most recent.
You're absolutely correct. Thank you for making this point. It seems an astonishing number of people don't understand that the future will judge us in exactly the same way. I can't understand why so many people don't think any such thing will happen over their likes and standards for what's acceptable currently.
Obtain an existence.
Ricky Gervais in Derek playing a disabled character.
And you described a character who is neurodivergent as disabled.
He is a normal person playing a person with learning disabilities and I’m autistic and it puts me off when I watch it.
@@MegaDazza87 why do you watch it then?
@@chiefsdad to analyse what the show was like at the time
Goodness me. We have become a delicate bunch.
I remember David Badell was on Jason lee podcast and explained why they took the Micky on him

Should rename the video to '
"Top moments when people weren't so offended by comedy"
for a lot, yes. I'm not easily offended but cringe when I see Rolf, Savile and Glitter around kids.
Aged Like Milk? Or are we soy now?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂nice one
What a load of naval-gazing shite. Ffs have a word with yourselves.
Half of these haven’t aged badly but they offend the wokerati, as does everything.
Another pile of rubbish.
There is no universe in the multiverse that can compare Jimmy to Rolf.
The two couldn't have been more different. Even their 'crimes' were different.
You're right, pissedoff. Rolf humped anything that moved and jimmy didn't adhere to such limitations.
