I use both every day of the week.. The Air is hands down lighter.. and clearly more efficient performing operations.. so I have no idea why anyone that wants a light fast tablet would say the 4th gen is as good.. It’s a brick by comparison .. and it gets hot faster.. smh
I have the iPad 4, and my girlfriend has the air. I think that the 4 generation has a more high end feel to it, than the air. The air has a plastic screen feel. As for the sound, the 4 generation has a speaker that hasn't been matched since. The sound in the air and actually in the air 2 as well, is rather poor. The air is of course faster and lighter and has a more modern design.
Upgraded to the ipad air from my ipad 2 and can't believe how amazing the display is. Had the retina display on my iPhone but to experience it on a 10inch screen is so different and I love it. Brilliant video. Thanks.
Definitely black for me but saying that I've just bought my son a the new iPod touch in white and that looks so nice. Maybe next time I might opt for white. But I find watching movies etc a lot better with a black border.
Can you suggest another word for it? It's even advertised on apples website as black or white. I'm not offended. My grandad was black. Or are you just some troll who likes to spam every message to annoy people?
The iPad 4 costs £239 in the UK and the iPad Air costs £399. Thats a difference of of £170. All you get is a tablet that is 250 grams lighter, or less then half a can of beer lighter. Only an idiot would pay £170 for that. Some people have to work a week to earn that money.
I had my iPad 4 for 2-3 years and just today upgraded to the iPad Air. So far I am really enjoying the iPad Air and I've noticed some very nice changes
Okay, I have the iPad 4 and honestly I dont like the design of the new iPads... I like ghe classic feel of the iPad 4 despite the weight which I dont mind at all. Ive dropped it A LOT without a case on and surprisingly it didnt die on me after 2 years of constant use such as heavy gaming and Netflix. The camera for me is okay because I barely use it anyway but when I do, I have no complains because Im happy with what I have. I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use the Rotation/Mute switch because I dont want to have to pull up control center all the time.... Im too lazy to do that.... Plus I likr playing around with the switch. The performance of my iPad 4 doesnt bother me one bit and is still living up to my expectations. Yes the newer ipads are faster but who really wants to spend more money on an iPad for being a second or two faster? Id say give it 5 years before upgrading to a new one because Apple is kind of slow when in comes to upgrading but none the less, they do make amazing tablets. The best on the market. :) Im definetly not going to sell my iPad 4 when I get a newer iPad. Its the LAST classic looking iPad and Im not about to give that up. I miss iOs 6 though..... That was the REAL Classic.
Just recently acquired an iPad Air 64GB model and it's absolutely fantastic. I've never owned an iPad however so I cannot speak for those who are considering upgrading from a previous version, but from what I've experienced so far it is truly magnificent. Sure it's obviously pricey as are all Apple products, but if you've got the money to burn then it is truly worth it. Best tablet experience that you'll find out and about as of now. The retina screen is stunning and the front-facing camera is brilliant for FaceTime/Skype and other such applications. It also runs high demand games such as Infinity Blade, Hearthstone and others without a hitch.
I don't know why but I just prefer the iPad 4. It seems more apple and as I have used both, I can say that the iPad 4 feels a lot more solid than the air. The 4 just seems better in every way but I can't explain why...
There's always going to be a minimal difference between a latest gadget and its predecessor. Companies introduce nearly insignificant changes from time to time in order to entice consumerism and say that they're being innovative. For example, the Ipad has come in different sizes over the years and its speed has improved a little from model to model. Now they start a split second faster. However, how much has your productivity really improved? Retina display? What's wrong with the display from the previous models? Nevertheless, it is great that Apple launches a new lpad every twelve months, although it really is a waste to buy a new one upon every release. By waiting 3 years, however, you can make the most of your Ipad. Plus, you'll have skipped 2 generations and then you can eventually buy something that really is significantly different to what you have now.
I have the iPad 3, and I hate the laggy experience. Not just iOS 7, but even iOS 6 was bad. I really want the Air, because it's so fast and light. I really like the weight. My cousin says there's no difference between all of them, but that's because he just doesn't get it. And, his friend tells him stuff about Apple, and even his friend doesn't know anything, so it's just terrible
I liked the information on this video. Easy to understand and it covered all the questions I had. Upgrading from an iPad2, hopefully in the near future. Thanks for the info.
All he really wants? - How about a tablet for productivity as well? But if all you want to do is consume media, there are tablets that work just as well for much less money.
I think I am going to order the Ipad Air 32gb in silver. Though, I am more interested in what it can run, rather than how well it can run things. Seeing how this would become my first Apple product and I never give brands a second chance. Does it have sketchbook or any other program that compares to Photoshop?
I think that there is no reason to buy ipad air, because there is almost nothing differences between old models. I have ipad 4 and it runs everything really good!
You keep saying how surfing the web is fast and works great for the iPad Air as if the iPad 4th gen doesn't do the same. In all honesty the only thing you will notice is the size and weight.
Would the iPad Air be a good move for a first tablet? I was thinking of getting a 4th gen one with a portion of my student loan for when I start University next year, but now I'm not so sure. Is the iPad Air definitely worth the extra money?
My wife now has a Ipad Air and I have a Ipad 4. Wanted to see this video because I don't see any difference between the two. I am a senior age wise but not mentally. The Apple store was extremely helpful compared to Best Buy where I got mine. Next will be the Iphone 6 to replace my 4S.
Went to buy an iPad Air at launch and saw a 64gb iPad 4 at 10% off. Got to keep my iPad 2 apple case and saved €140 total. Then found out the Air costs Apple less to make than previous generations and is also way more fragile (see youtube drop tests). iPad 4 is already superfast.
Both pads are the same for me. Ive been working with them both and they are exactly the same. The "Air" one may have better specs, but they are the same, belive me. Productivity and the speed is the same. Screens are the same. Games work the same, they both lag on same apps. Where is the difference then ? The only difference i really minded that its thinner. Damn, 50 more dollars for 2mm thinner tablet - please, get the fuck outta here. The other thing is the battery. DEFINITELY NOT THE SAME !!! For example i use pads for games, and i can play my favourite game 8 hours on 4th generation, on the 5th one it was 6 hours. Same brightness on both. Don't u people understand the fail that Apple do ? And again, they will make milions, because of fools that want the latest and "the best" product. They may be different from inside, but honestly, i don't see any changes. I just dont feel them.
Guess what - if you have an ipad 4, just wait for the Air 2, it will be better than the Air and probably the same price. Every release Apple says their new device is 'The best ever', so the Air 2 should be amazing...
TheTrolltasticGamer Yeah dude, Jen seems to know her stuff. Like she was saying the iPad Air has an x64 core [64bit] while the iPad 4 has an x86 core [32bit]. That doesn't mean the iPad air is twice as fast however. Both however are 1.4Ghz dual core processors. So in other words anyone who claims the iPad Air is "two times faster" than an iPad 4 doesn't know what they are talking about. The only hardware improvements made to the the new iPad were the switch from a 32 to a 64 bit capable cpu [which has an integrated motion coprocessor], an upgrade from 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM to 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM [it provides wider memory bandwidth, but runs slightly slower due to higher CAS timing requirements], and the graphics chip is newer [both use a Quad-core PowerVR integrated chip, just different models]. I'm willing to bet money that the reason people see a difference in benchmark results between the iPad 4 and the iPad Air is because the iPads are being benchmarked using a new 64 bit benchmark utility. Apple's iOS SDK documentation even talks about how all 64bit apps need to have backwards runtime capability with x86 [32bit] iOS devices. Simply put, a 64bit app will run better [read: faster] on a 64bit core than a 32bit app on a 32bit core, even if all the other hardware is the same. That's one of the advantages of 64bit computing. Unfortunately for the fools who fall for this benchmarking "trick", they are unlikely to see many 64bit capable apps any time soon. So really it's not much of an upgrade, not from an iPad 4 anyway. If you had an iPad 3 you would notice a large difference indeed, and anything prior to that [say an iPad 2 or the original iPad] would be a very significant upgrade to say the least.
Jennifer W Gee, relax . No need for all of that " Miss know it know it all , kind of thing". In my opinion , i personally think that the ipad 4 is a great looking device and also runs beautifully on the ios 6. Lately some users have been reporting alot of glitches , lag and other complaints , that the ipad 4 consists of due to their update to the new ios. IOS 7. And also with older devices of the iphone . iphone 4 , and 4s. I think that maybe it has something to do when older devices. Since ios 7 has been proven to work better with newer devices , as that was what they were intended for. But , what i don't really understand is why apple has let this happen , sometimes i think that they don't really care about their customers enough to put them firsts other than the money and the recognition and popularity . each year or two apple comes out with a new product. Most often than not , it's usually minor tweaks , that sometimes tend to stand out in a bunch , and sometimes maybe not really. And when a new product comes out they really have a good way of making you feel like outdated , Like older versions of the ipad ,2, 3 and 4. and the iphone 4 ,and 4s has been receiving quite some complaints , there and there. How would it feel , if that's how apple treated you in return . You support them in later , you get little to no recognition in return. To have especially arisen apple to great heights , and have stuck by their side. And return , completely take the favor for granted. Now the air , when it comes to performance , i agree it is better. It's up to you if you wanna consider buying it.
meighily bebe dorr What you just said was: "Apple makes little to no improvement between hardware releases, and they are total assholes that shit on their customers, but the iPad Air is still better than the iPad 4". Do you know what "double talk" is?
Both of these are pretty good. The real test is the ipad 2 vs the Air. Why? Because for some reason the ipad 2 i still being sold. People need to know that the 2 is a rip off and old.
none whatsoever unless ur jailbroken I wish I was jailbroken but my 6s plus came with 9.2 and since there's no jailbreak I decided to try out 9.3 beta so I'll probs be waiting longer
I agree with you if you have a ipad 4 it's not worth upgrading as there is not much of a difference and you will be throwing money down the drain for so little.. ( If you have a iPad 4 stick with it)
I'm sticking with my iPad 4
Me to cause I can't afford a iPad pro
I have iPad 4 and it's amazing
yes I concur with you
i have it to and its great
No. Ipad air is the best because its fast and lighter
If you have the 4 you DONT NEED THE Air...
Nuff said....
Yeah I agree
I use both every day of the week.. The Air is hands down lighter.. and clearly more efficient performing operations.. so I have no idea why anyone that wants a light fast tablet would say the 4th gen is as good.. It’s a brick by comparison .. and it gets hot faster.. smh
I have the iPad 4, and my girlfriend has the air.
I think that the 4 generation has a more high end feel to it, than the air. The air has a plastic screen feel.

The air is of course faster and lighter and has a more modern design.
Robert Normann well yo bad ipad 4 isn’t compatible anymore
The air’s sound is poor.. The four is way, way more rich
air is grand fathere or ipad 4😢
iPad Air Is Not Worth The Upgrade At All If You Have iPad 4 :)
I've just bought the Air after an iPad 2... huge change :D
Same here
Same
i used ipad 1, then switched to ipad 2 in 2014, and then switched to ipad air in 2015. Still use ipad air :(
Ipad 4 the best !!!!!!!

Satoru Iwata How is that racist? -.-
Totally agree with you. How is preferring a black ipad racist? Lol! I can't call it anything but black. Maybe the darker coloured ipad....lol!!
Can you suggest another word for it? It's even advertised on apples website as black or white. I'm not offended. My grandad was black. Or are you just some troll who likes to spam every message to annoy people?

*160 soz I'm late
I actually prefer the ipad 4 design. Looks nice on the back and also the bezel is perfect
Well, actually iPad 4 is fat... Love my Air.
older i pad's back was pretty when compared to ipad air...but the thinness is just mindblowing in ipad air !
TaskArts: Why should a fat, extremely heavy iPad be better than superlight and superthin one?
Fat and cheaper? I'll take one!
Me too, i just like the fatter bezel around the screen for some reason
I had my iPad 4 for 2-3 years and just today upgraded to the iPad Air. So far I am really enjoying the iPad Air and I've noticed some very nice changes

More solid cause it's chunky af lol the size of the bezels are so ugly imo, where
As for me the iPad mini 4 which I'm using is way better
I like the regular iPad design more than the Air...
I'm watching this in 2017 and in his new videos he goes crazy
Good comparison! I only wish the Touch ID scanner would have been included in the iPad updates, but I guess we need something for next year =P
Keaton - do you read off of script? Or is this done in one take?

Still happy with my ipad 2...
Great review dude.

I liked the information on this video. Easy to understand and it covered all the questions I had. Upgrading from an iPad2, hopefully in the near future. Thanks for the info.
The iPad 4 still look better than the new ones though
I have both ipad 4 snd air and its a MASSIVE difference
I wish the Ipad air wasn't so expensive!
=(
Believe me its worth it but u can buy a clean used one for about 100$ cheaper just like i did
Not that expensive
Great comparison video! Thank you!
Where did u get the wallpaper u have on the iPad 4?
I have one and I'm loving every minute of it
I am from future we have ipad pro 2020
And
I phone 11
All he really wants? - How about a tablet for productivity as well? But if all you want to do is consume media, there are tablets that work just as well for much less money.
Use my iPad air for entertainment.
And my Nexus 7 for productivity and work :)
Love it
you should get an eye phone
And how is that app called that you used for the ram etc
I don't have any Apple products yet, would love to have the iPad Air!
What is the difference between iPad 4 MD513LL/A and iPad 4 A1459?
the first is most expensive
I got the ipad 4 last December for my bday. I love it more than anything. After seeing this i wanted to cry
What backgrounds do you use and where do you get them?
Guys, you guys and non-guys who are young guys and non-guys sure do say guys constantly, guys.
i didnt know the ipad air was out before november i tought it was out on december
I think I am going to order the Ipad Air 32gb in silver. Though, I am more interested in what it can run, rather than how well it can run things. Seeing how this would become my first Apple product and I never give brands a second chance. Does it have sketchbook or any other program that compares to Photoshop?
Am I the only one who finds it crazy that it’s been 5 years?
This dude talks tooooo fastttttt and I'm sitting over here like🐢
Lol
i like this guy ... he just talks with common sense and he is recommending IPAD Air so i am gonna go and get it ASAP
What's the name of the song at the end of the video?
I prefer the ipad 4 it's more solid I feel like I might break the air. Plus performance isn't that different.
I have an ipad 4 i may upgrade when the ipad 7 arrives but not earlier
both ipad 4 and ipad air are good. nothing much different :)
Is the slow-motion mode is included ?
I think that there is no reason to buy ipad air, because there is almost nothing differences between old models. I have ipad 4 and it runs everything really good!
I got an iPad 4 for Christmas :D
i got my son the iPad 4 32 gb :) I'm sad he will return it for the mini
You keep saying how surfing the web is fast and works great for the iPad Air as if the iPad 4th gen doesn't do the same. In all honesty the only thing you will notice is the size and weight.
So that would be the only difference between the two because I'm having a difficult time picking which
The iPad Air is a 64 bit architecture with the A7 chip
if you are trying to save money and you dont care about the size and look go for the 4th gen.
Here in 2021 :) Thanks for this video.
i have 4 and it is great
Would the iPad Air be a good move for a first tablet? I was thinking of getting a 4th gen one with a portion of my student loan for when I start University next year, but now I'm not so sure. Is the iPad Air definitely worth the extra money?
Definitely? Of course not. But if the Air will cost just a little more you might as well get it.
I thought the air and the four where the same thing
casual person
My wife now has a Ipad Air and I have a Ipad 4. Wanted to see this video because I don't see any difference between the two. I am a senior age wise but not mentally. The Apple store was extremely helpful compared to Best Buy where I got mine. Next will be the Iphone 6 to replace my 4S.
Exactly my same story. Thanks for the comment :)
iPad 4 !!!!
Good video buddy
when techsmartt was chill
Went to buy an iPad Air at launch and saw a 64gb iPad 4 at 10% off. Got to keep my iPad 2 apple case and saved €140 total. Then found out the Air costs Apple less to make than previous generations and is also way more fragile (see youtube drop tests). iPad 4 is already superfast.
I can see the resultant iPad having a video distortions lag and the iPad Air has a faster video play
Is the iPad 4 laggy or has it a slow performance in daily use?
Got the mini with the retina display here :) better feel in hands cuz its smaller and bigger pixel per inch.
You sound make a comperesion video with the ipad air and the new nexus 7

woah. this old video of you is so weird. like, how old were you, Keaton??

How do you make them stand like that is that magic. I tried that and it fell flat

I love my ipad 4 anyway😄
just got the new ps 4, no money to upgrade ipad man
i can't hear anything >:(
is the ipad 4 still good because i accidently got one instead:[
LOL! It might be good but Air is 2 times better :D
I am jealous of ur abilities im going to go to school to learn about computers but for now I just wanna know is the ipad 4 still good

Do you know what "double talk" is?
which one is the best
Why do you sound so happy like your enjoying his review? Jokes. You're way better newer days
now just have to see ipad air vs ipad mini retina
Definitely going to buy it......
Both of these are pretty good. The real test is the ipad 2 vs the Air. Why? Because for some reason the ipad 2 i still being sold. People need to know that the 2 is a rip off and old.
The 4th gen is not for sale anymore? Of so thays crazy theu should getbridnofnthe ipad 2 if anything
good info, thanks
During the video when comparing you said ipad air when it suppose to be ipad 4
I'm from the future and we have ipad proZ1577ryzen
I have both, not much difference except for the width and length of the Air it's a smaller form factor that's all.
Good video and thank you.
What is the song at the end?
My name is also Keaton 😂. Not everyday bro 💪
I will buy one this month definitely... I am so late...
i have an ipad 4, im gonna wait for the ipad air with the finger id like the iphone 5s
What 'customisability' in ios 7 are you talking about?
From an ipad air user.
none whatsoever unless ur jailbroken I wish I was jailbroken but my 6s plus came with 9.2 and since there's no jailbreak I decided to try out 9.3 beta so I'll probs be waiting longer
im planning to buy ipad.can u help me wich is better?? thanks
I like my iPad Mini, and it's perfect size not too big nor too small.
Tech wise it is very impressive but how strong is the frame? I move around alot and I hope it doesn't bend like the iPhone 6.
iPad air won't bend, not like the iPhone 6, or iPad Air 2, which is even thinner than the iPhone 6. I say it's quite sturdy.
I have an iPad 4 love it super fast... Definitely not worth getting the air if you have a 4th gen.
I agree with you if you have a ipad 4 it's not worth upgrading as there is not much of a difference and you will be throwing money down the drain for so little.. ( If you have a iPad 4 stick with it)
