Point and Shoot Film Camera Repair (Canon AF35M)

The Canon AF35M is a compact point and shoot camera system sporting an autofocus 35mm 2.8 lens, readily available flash and a host of electrical issues. They can be a pain to work on but every now and then good fortune smiles upon el bronco and they repair easy.

the af35mii was my first repair, got me into the whole business of repair. its a love hate relationship with them

Also check solder joints if dark grey resolder to become bright again. 🐊

Would love to see you work on a pentax pc35af. Ive got 2 in a drawer that are not working, hoping I can get a working one from the two.

How similar are these internally to the Nikon AF35? I don't mess with point and shoots, my experience is with old mechanical medium format cameras and leaf shutter mechanisms. But I have some broken Nikons in a box and thought I may have a stab.

I just was given one of these cameras, It had a lot of corrosion where the batteries go. It isn't turning on, I have been trying to research and see what to do but most of the videos I find are fro the AF35MII. Any tips on doing something to the battery compartment to make it work? Or troubleshooting ideas?
