If your wondering why the gen 2 was slightly slower than the gen 1 with no orbital, it was likely because the blade was slightly dull from testing with the gen 1 and my test jig was slightly loose. I tested it out some more and the gen 2 does average slightly faster than the gen 1, but it's not huge. The biggest difference is in the orbital in thick wood and vibration. For heavy use over long periods of time, the gen 2 is far superior.
In other video's i saw that it makes a huge difference which sawblade is used...just try a few different blades to get the best results. My 18V 20 year old Makita Recipro is barely used because it sucks in power...i will buy the 40V now.
orbital action works great on makita jigsaws...
Great video, thank you. In my opinion, this is the best (GRJ02) high volt (20v plus) Sawzall you can buy right now. I love my Makita XGT stuff, lots of power and good balance.
Thanks for watching! It’s a tough call as this one performs better, but the Metabo HPT 36v can be had for nearly 1/4 the price and it still has about 90% of the power. Performance VS Value.
I've always had issues with Makita's 18v brushless reciprocating saws where they melt some sort of rubber bushing around the shaft and the whole thing becomes loose. Do you know if they upgraded this part with the xgt version?
What do you think about the LXT 18v Brushless Recip. Saw , if i remember correctly it is pretty good ??
I still have one, it’s excellent, just not as powerful as the XGT models.
this isn't a gen 2 tool, its a different tool.
This is the only recip saw they have made with orbital action. Reason is they want to maximize battery life.
Which you can do by not using. Makita being Makita. 😂
Always thought it was a reliability thing, but with recip saws battery life isn’t much of a concern as is speed.
It's the only one on battery yes, but makita have had a corded one with orbital action for a long time.😊
