    I’m here for the guy on the escalator at the beginning of the video. He’s so unbothered

      We Pittsburghers are so unfazed 😅

    I'm glad to see they made a Living Dead museum which looks even better than I expected. The bust and plaque was a nice tribute itself that I've seen photos of but I didn't realize they had a museum too and with the motorcycle too. I already wanted to visit before but it's just more of a reason to. I might have to consider going to one of the events they have someday. Great video!

      It’s been around for years. The same people operated this museum there years ago on the east side lower level of the mall along with another living dead museum in Evans City where Night of The Living Dead was filmed. They closed the Monroeville location and had everything moved to Evans City. Then they closed Evans City location and moved everything to this current location on the upper level.

    That ticket stub at 21:10 was from the Premiere of Land of the Dead held at the Byham theater in Pittsburgh's cultural district. I have a matching ticket stub also from that premiere where I met Quentin Tarantino and Simon Pegg.

    Thanks for sharing Micah! So cool that the Mall have a museum in there to celebrate the Living Dead, really great and some fantastic stuff in there. I have decided over the weekend to watch the film again as it is one of my favourites.

    Cool video, one of my favorite movies. Great to see the mall hasn’t lost its liminal vibe the movie gives it. Also did the area of the Mall where the VW Scirocco was parked still exist?

    • @ProfessionalClownWrangler
      @ProfessionalClownWrangler 4 дня назад

      Yes. That Scirocco was originally parked in front of Bakers Shoes (now Hot Topic/Gems & Jewelry). This was immediately next to the lower level Penny’s entrance known as “town center”. It sat to the west side of town center across from where the Ice Palace rink was (now the food court) and an Italian restaurant called di Pomodoro that had windows looking out onto the ice rink itself. The upper level east entrance where they pull the car up to lock the doors and set the alarms is still there too. There’s a big Pittsburgh themed mural by that entrance. They drove that car on both levels. They had to beg a VW dealership to loan them that Scirocco, and wound up crashing it into one of those marble pillars in the mall.

    My hometown mall, I live 2 min behind this mall, so cool the legendary history of horror... hope it never goes away like so many Malls across America. They need to make it a national land mark so it will always remain

    My favourite part of the beginning is not that you have that episode in front of the guy, but that it cuts as you immediately start to descend suggesting you walked back down the escalator instead of finishing the ride, forcing him to the side

    You got turned around. The area @6:29 is the former town square where the clock tower used to be. The fountain square was at the east end of the mall by Macy’s (formerly Hornes/Lazarus). Also, when you watch this movie notice that both ends of the mall are filmed in a way that you can’t see Gimbles or Hornes department stores. Several mall tenants didn’t want to be shown in this movie so they had to film around them. Penny’s was the only anchor store that gave them permission and why it’s so prominent in the film.

    Went there about two years ago- it was great. Pittsburgh is one of my favorite cities too- a hidden gem. It's changing FAST though.... gettin' a little fancier, which I kinda hate to see.

    walking dead.. that's a different franchise. romero never used the work zombie. they were flesh eating ghouls.

    • @ProfessionalClownWrangler
      @ProfessionalClownWrangler 4 дня назад

      They definitely use the word zombie in Dawn of The Dead and other Romero installments. Dawn was the first movie to ever refer to the living dead as zombies. When the bikers break open the mall Ken Foree says: “There’s gonna be a thousand zombies in here.” Even the European version of this film is titled “Zombi”. Dennis Hopper also refers to them as zombies in Romero’s Land of The Dead. They don’t use term zombie at all in The Walking Dead. Robert Kirkman didn’t want The Walking Dead set in a universe where the idea of the modern zombie existed. He did this so the characters would believably have no idea how to react to the scenario. Romero used the word sparingly, but he was the first to refer to the living dead as zombies and re-defined what zombie means in the modern lexicon.
