Hey Jim! I'm so glad I finally got that card out to you, and I'm so glad you like it. Every now and then I revisit that street corner in Huntington, L.I. and hang with the ghosts for a minute or two. They're still rowdy and rambunctious. Timmy's Game 5 "decree" was just one of those things kids do. And I remember it took me a while to get Game 5. I had started collecting a little later than the other kids that spring, having only recently become a baseball fan earlier in the year. And when I finally got that card, I wouldn't quite be being honest if I didn't say I derived quite a bit of inner satisfaction. If I ever track down Timmy Hood, after convincing him I'm not crazy, I'll ring you up and we'll all have a drink. What thoughtful gifts you got from the other guys. Merry Christmas!
Hi Gannon! I can’t thank you enough for the awesome game 5 card and the story about it! I absolutely love it and it will hold a special place in my collection! In my mind I can see my young self and my friends on a similar street corner and I can hear someone like Timmy shout out a similar comment! 😂 Thanks again my friend! I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!
Wow what an awesome mail day! I think my favorite was the SGC 85 yaz which was the design for this year's heritage. Thanks for sharing and merry Christmas!
Hey Jim! Loved the 1968 Topps game 5 from Gannon. That gift was just perfect. You’re very blessed to have so many friends but all of your friends are blessed to have you in our lives. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Jim.
Thank you sir! The generosity in this community is amazing and we are blessed to be a pet of it! The game 5 card story is so cool! I really appreciate you watching! Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Hi Jim! This community never ceases to amaze me. So generous! I love everything that you got. All of the cards and items were very thoughtful. I really like the Japanese card and Yaz stuff. Also, the Teddy pen advertisement is tremendous! Have a great weekend, my friend!
Hey Jim, What an incredible array of gifts from the community! It truly reflects how highly thought of you are within the group. I completely agree that Gannon should be making videos. I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with him quite a bit through email, and he’s a gifted storyteller-one of those collectors who can make you feel the nostalgia behind collecting cards. I’ve seen photos of his collection, and as you can imagine, there’s so much meaning behind the cards he has. They’re reflections of his childhood as well as the history of baseball, football, and pop culture. That 1967 Game 5 card is amazing, and the story that goes with it is just as special. Andy is another one of my favorites in the community. He’s a genuinely good person and a devoted family man, which I have so much respect for. I love how he collects with his son-it’s such a meaningful way to share the hobby. He has an awesome collection too! I was thrilled to see him add the 1962 Topps Unitas recently, especially since he’s such a big Colts fan. I know I sound like a broken record, but CK is another fantastic member of the community. Anytime you can add a Bobby Orr playing-days card, it’s pretty special. To me, he’s the greatest talent to ever grace the ice. His short career doesn’t diminish how utterly dominating and revolutionary he was as a player. I’m not as familiar with the prewar hockey era, but no postwar player-including Gretzky-impacted their position the way Orr did. There’s never been anyone like him, before or since. That 1975 Topps card is an excellent addition to your collection-and the ’75 Yaz is a nice pick-up as well! George, who is also incredibly generous and has a great channel, sent you a beautiful Japanese card. I’m looking forward to hearing more about it from you. I don’t know TTM Mike as well, but the cards he gave you fit perfectly into your collection. That puzzle-back card is especially cool! I could of used tips on how to hit too. Once off speed pitchers were introduced my baseball playing days were over. Lol. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the kind words my friend! I really appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment. All these gifts are a reflection on the great guys that sent them! I feel blessed to be a part of our amazing community! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
