Extremely helpful since my used cutter isn't going to come with any information, mats or dies. It was really good to see how it actually worked. Than you so much for this video.
I’m glad It was helpful. There are loads of videos on RUclips. Even the older ones are helpful. Way back when the Go! Cutter first came out on the market. LoveBugStudios has many informative videos.
Congratulations Sharon!! I just had a thought. Ebony Love on RUclips has several videos on the Go! Cutter if you’re interested in more information. She has a great channel besides.
Hi Sharon. I am so happy for you that you have inherited a "Go". You can also log in to "Accuquilt.com" and they have a lot of videos and patterns. Lots of free patterns but you have to have the dies to go with them. Have fun. What a short cut when it comes to piecing for quilts!! I hope you inherited a lot of fabric, too!! lol
Hi Robin! I have just decided to get an Accuquilt because of a project that requires cutting over 1000 hexies. I was happy to see that you have a Hexie die, then you said that you don't use it much! That's probably the one reason I bought the Accuquilt! LOL!! I've been searching YT videos on the GO! I'm so glad that you did this video, your my voice of reason! Thanks a bunch!!
That’s a lot of hexies. I’ve seen many people use the Sizzix machine for cutting their hexie papers and some even cut the fabric. You can buy the precut papers also but I prefer freezer paper for my hexies. After that it’s just cutting squares of fabric. After this project do you think you’d use the Go! Cutter for other projects? After you bought more dies of course. This machine is right up there with Do you prewash your fabrics? with the amount people that will argue either side 🤣
I would definitely use this machine for more projects. There are more "designer" dies available and perhaps that will allow me to venture out and advance my quilting skills. One can hope!
C LOMBARD Then you made a great investment. Yes, there are some wonderful dies. I don’t have an embroidery machine but there are several beautiful dies that work with an embroidery machine. I do think it’s an amazing tool for those that make quilts that work with the dies. I’ve changed my style over the years and that’s no longer me. Enjoy your Go! Cutter and your new hexie project!!
Hi Robin, this was an excellent video and especially helpful to someone like me. I just received my Auccuquilt Ready Set Go and am having fun learning all about it. Thank you!
I have of dies that I have purchased. I want to know how you store your dies. I do not have a big house but I do have a bed room that is my sewing room and again it full. Thank for your help. I am glad to see you are doing well.
I was always told that the Go! dies should be stored standing up. Not laying flat. I read that they can warp if laid flat. I keep mine on a wire rack in my closet. I’ve seen some people use something similar to a mail sorter.
Robin, Thank you sooo much! I used and ebay credit to score an Accuquilt Baby. I also invested in a 2.5" strip and a 1.5" square die. Although these will suffice for now, I really appreciate your thoughts on the dies you own. You've given me ideas of what other dies to wishlist. If I'm patient, I'll find great deals on Ebay. Again for taking the time to share your Accuquilt experience. Feel better!
eBay is great if you’re patient. I have a few random things on my wish list. Sometimes It might take a year or more but they usually show up at a good price. Happy hunting!!
Thank you for chatting with us about the Accuquilt Go! & the dies. I don't have one & hadn't really seen one in action. So this was very interesting to me too! I just got a Brother Scan N Cut DX 225 primarily to use it to cut out patterns (although I'm limited to a mat size of 12" x 24") - we shall see! Trying to cut down my exposure to using & being around ink print (silly chemical sensitivity). My "scrapitude" as you say :) is if it's too small for me to consider using, I've started using them as stuffing for pet beds. Always great to hear you & see your hands fluttering around!
I've seen several videos for the Brother Scan N Cut. Do I have one? no ma'am. Then why am I watching the videos? Why not? lol I'll watch most anything ;) Great use for those little scraps.
Just as you, I got mine around that time and I was thinking of selling mine, but I may start using it again. Just wondered if the new dies can be used in mine
Maybe email ACCUQUILT before you buy any new dies but I would hope that the old system would work with the new dies. I do like some of the new dies and systems that they have now.
I don’t know much about the newer dies etc for the Go! Cutter. In the past they did not have any dies that cut a 2 and 3/8 square etc. Those you’d need to cut by hand.
Nice system. I have a Sizzix system. Love it. I just have a few dies in some basic shapes and a few for circles, Appliqués and animals, which are too intricate for these ol hands to cutout. It’s convenient to be sure. Especially for shapes like circles (yo yos) or hexies when we need a bazillion pieces. Lol. All in all I feel it was a good purchase and don’t regret a thing. Also like the Sizzix b/c I can also run Go dies and others thru it. Got it on a super sale at Amazon several years ago.
I’ve heard the Sizzix system was pretty good. I remember reading some different blogs when they figured out the Go! Dies worked in the Sizzix system. I think that’s great because your system does more than mine if I remember correctly. Any system is great for appliqués. I like the flower ones because those seemed like ones I would use over and over.
I don’t remember when they first came out but I went and checked on my old blog. It looks like I ordered mine in June of 2010. I had my first shoulder surgery in 2008 so that sounds right. I imagine some bloggers had them the year before. I hope that helps. It wasn’t very long after I ordered mine (less than a month maybe) that JoAnns stopped allowing coupons on any Go! item.
That’s aggravating. I’m not familiar with the Go Me but when things aren’t working right for me I always go back to the beginning. Have you tried putting just one of the dies through the machine? If the die goes through fine on its own then maybe you’re using too many layers of fabric. If you have multiple dies have you tried each die? Maybe there’s an issue with one of the dies. Did you check their website for any tips, tricks, and troubleshooting. I suggest contacting the Go company and asking them. I hope you get It figured out. I know It took me a bit to get the hang of mine. I haven’t used mine in a long time but I do remember that I had to gently hold the die against the machine while cranked the handle. Just until the die got under that center bar and then It went through on its own. I hope you can get It figured out.
Hi Robin I enjoyed watching your video using the acququilt Go again. I've got the Go cutter. I bought the 6in cube dies and the companion set. I agree with you that it would be nice to leave it set up, as it is heavy. I also bought the die that does the strips. I enjoy using it. I've got the hexagon die which cuts fabric and paper. Oh Robin I've got buttons for your project but can't remember how to send them to you. I love all your projects. I made a scrappy quilt for my son. He loves it. I've made a few project bags and drawstring bags. I crochet, knit, sew, and xstitch. Basically all crafts. I bought the envelope maker you used. What to you use to stick together and on the part to close them?
I love all of the crafts too. When I’m not much in the mood for one craft I can always switch to another. Plenty of fun things to do. Thank you so much for thinking of me and my button project. If you send me an email to rsislandcrafts@gmail.com I’ll send you my mailing address. No rush. My email is down below each video in the description box.
Thank you for the very informative post. I've heard about this for a long time but never saw it in action. Now that I see how well and fast it works I will be looking for one. Your accuquilt( I don't know what you call it is) web site maybe is great. I've looked at it, got a price in mind and very soon I will get my own. It's nice to listen to you because you speak clearly with easy to understand directions. Have a great day.
Thank you! That’s very sweet of you. When buying any tool let alone an expensive one it’s nice to see It in action even if it’s on a video and hear what others think about It. That way you’re more informed when you sit down to decide what tools to buy next. At least that’s what I do 😉
Me too!! That is how I have bought most of what I have over the years. Although, there were times when we were traveling so much that we would stop at quilt shops and I would get to buy something. That is how I got my first Accuquilt. It was on sale!! lol
I have an electronic cutting system but not used it yet!! (Crafter's Companion). I've read on a blog that old rotary cutting mats can be used for when your rubber/plastic mat is worn out - something to think about :)

I want to thank you for your help. I listen to you about putting the die on a slight angle. It worked. Thanks again. You are wonderful.
You’re very welcome. I’m so glad It helped.
I have seen many videos of the cutter but yours is the best and most informative. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you. 🦩
Thanks for this video, I’m looking into purchasing one. It looks like a cutter I can handle 😄
You’re welcome. I think it’s a great tool when you match the dies to the style of quilts that you make.
I have an accuquilt. I 💘 it
I think it’s an amazing tool. I still use a few of my specialty dies now and then.
I love this system
