- The 1959 Corvette is part of the first generation of Corvettes. The styling and performance were second to none. A very popular thing to do with classic cars is to restomod them. Has this 1959 Corvette been ruined from the restomod process or is a unique piece of rolling art and history?

I think Resto-mods like this that are done tastefully are great. He went with modern wheels that have a classic look. I think the big mistake is when people replace a bunch of stuff on a classic car with what’s cool at the moment, then 10 years later it looks dated. You see stuff at car shows like that all the time.

The wheels, aftermarket stereo, and aftermarket a/c vents ruined it for me. I prefer restomods that look original, but perform like a new car.

Just an FYI for Corvette collectors: I don't remember the year anymore (62 or 63 I think), but my cousin had a Vette years ago that had something I've never seen or heard of before. It actually had the letters STINGRAY embedded in the metal of the trunk lid. It looked like it was done at the factory too. Don't know how many were made like that, but it must have been very few.

Great job again!! Nothing to complain about on this one from me. The color is perfect. Chrome perfect. Paint spectacular. Always loved those wheels and had same style Cragers on my ‘73 Challenger back in the day. I suppose the irony would be - as beautiful as it is, the handling would be a disappointment - only because modern technology and engineering allows current vehicles to handle so well. Thnx Joe - look forward to follow up segment!!

I love corvettes, and this 59 is no exception, even though its been modified. The only thing that is a clear visible difference is that its been lowered and the wheels have been changed. I prefer the original wheels and height, because where I live, there's a lot of speed bumps! Any other modifications are too small for me to notice. A peak under the hood would have been nice! oh, by the way, I love those two stangs parked behind it too! keep em' comin' Joe, nice job.

Smooth & well synchoed camera work as always, especially when it focuses on the things being said on audio at the right time and from the right angles, every time. Ruined car... but probably the best result especially if it was in bad conditions pre-restomod.

Over all, looks cool. The wheels are awesome but I wouldn't have lowered it.

As a through and through Chevy man, I have never cared much for most of the corvettes except the 59 and 67.. and this has got to be one of the most beautiful examples I have ever laid eyes on... EVERYTHING about that car just works.. anyone with taste will agree

IMO there isn't actually what some called "ruined".
I might for example absolutely hate your build and would be miserable with the vehical if it were hypothetically given to me personally.
But if it puts a smile on your face and you get enjoyment and positive experiences with it.
Do it ! Whole point is to have fun and enjoy it.
I dislike Donk a lot for example. But have to admire some of craftsmanship skills some have to make what they want a reality.
The people I meet is what I like the most about car and motorcycle culture. And happens to have become busy work for my shop when we are slow.
Typically build custom equipment for companies like Kholer and 3M.
Have had a rat rod, chopper, and Lamborghini parked next to each other waiting on us to get to them too.
It works well for me. Tastefully done with an eye for functionality.....

Like I said previously, any classic, vintage car that was not a turkey is great if in mint, original condition. I agree with purists that you should try to keep everything as close to original if the car was in almost new condition when acquired, or still is. A resto mod is different, especially if full original pieces not easily available. I don't particularly think the wheel design and super low profile tires match thus car, but it can accommodate the large brake upgrade you mentioned. I still like the fact that my non intercooled 84 Buick GN was faster than the 83/84 Corvette you mentioned, and with a 231 Turbo V6 Automatic in a 3500 lb. car. I prefer the C6 and C7 versions, but have seen so many renditions if the C8 that look really nice

Even as I tend to be more of a originalist or purist, I love this car. Classic design but modern power and handling. I would kill for a Vette like this.

im not into restomods because ppl always cheese'em out. this is the best resmo i have ever seen.
that being said there are some cars that just cant be improved upon. or in other words there are cars that should never be changed. from 1963 until present corvettes are beautiful cars, theyre panels are designed with consultation from ferrari. i think zora or bob made this vette. this is the sweestest resmo ive ever seen. but again some cars can never ever be improved upon

Nice review, thats my favorite model year of Corvette. I thing it looks good but I wouldn´t lower it so much. For me the stance doesn´t look good and It is not practicall too running over bumps.Overall it is in good shape and would like to own one.Keep up

Curses. I put feeding the dogs on hold to finish the video and I have to Zonk you referring to the '58 "louvered hood." It's a washboard hood and has no purpose other than looks, which btw, I like and it was a one year only hood. Great review. You know I like resto-modded Vettes and Kudos to the owner on what he's done so far and where's he going with the build. Looking forward to Part 2.

My 59 had a couple mods. First was a smaller diameter steering wheel so I could fit in the car. Second was a front disc brake conversion so I could stop. Third was the addition of an AC unit due to the hot and humid Louisiana heat. Mine had American mags with what I called Coke Bottle spokes.I built my car to drive.
