Great Video! Thank you ! I studied in Halle (east Germany) for three years so the story about Amu always interested me a lot. There’s a sculpture near Uni campus honoring him, unfortunately not known and seen by a lot of people. Good thing is there’s a black politician in Halle (Karamba Diaby, SPD) besides many groups, activists etc working on an honorful history project in cooperation with the city administration. If you are interested about this topic just contact me, it’s an important topic I’d like to work on more. :) thx for your channel & great work!

It is interesting to see African men/Women in Europe during these times who weren't at war with Europe, but either safe guarding or adding to European ideals and culture. Most of the time I just hear about the Moors and their bloody exploits against the Spaniards, but I hardly ever hear about Abraham Petrovich of Russia the "adopted Son" of Peter the Great, or how the Portuguese sailed all the way to Ethiopia and worked together with the locals to keep Ethiopia safe from Muslim expansion. We only ever get to look at the rivalry between African and European peoples, hardly ever the instances where they worked together against a common enemy.

I was reading David Hume's essay on the differences between peoples, in which he says among other things that Africans (by which he means black people as understood in the late 1700s) have never written books or produced philosophy, even when in Europe. I found this very strange, since he was writing only a few decades after this person, as well as after Hannibal (who wrote books), and he must have known about them.

He was a smart kid who could speak Dutch, Hebrew, German and French and the Duke's son sponsored his education. His troubles began when he sought to marry a white woman he was in love with and Johann Ernst Philippi wrote a very satirical poem to make fun of his wishes to marry a white woman, who actually rejected him for being black. When his colleague and friend whom he did several works with at Halle University died, a senior professor at that, he was isolated and he relocated to Ghana where he died poor

@@Mfalme24 it did but majority of black muslims didn’t dress like arabs or were arabised in culture like how berbers are. Your average citizen from Ghana or Mali most likely just whore traditional Mande clothing. I mean berbers were probably the only non-black group to influence clothing in Ghana, Mali and Songhai in some way.

Excellent content but you threw me off at the end with the name of the war that absorbed everyone's attention. If Amo left Europe in 1740 that would be the War of Austrian Succession, the Austro-Prussian War was 120 years later.

That's what I'm saying, we need more Africans that can reason publicly amongst anyone claiming they're enlightened. Philosophy means love of wisdom and to me wisdom is fear of God. In other words, I'm deathly afraid of trespassing against love. Everyone should tremble when a wise man takes the podium; like His Majesty Jah! Ras Tafari, selassie I😇🙏

Ghana has a very special relationship with Germany over centuries, I wonder why?.. Please do some more research and fill in these holes.
