- Adding a remote start kit by BimmerTech to your BMW F10 can elevate your driving experience with the convenience of starting your car remotely. Here's a guide to help you through the installation process:
Begin by gathering all the necessary tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, and wire strippers. Ensure you have a safe and well-lit workspace, and disconnect the car battery to prevent any electrical accidents.
Locate a suitable spot for the control module, typically under the dashboard. Mount the antenna in a position where it can receive signals effectively, such as near the windshield.
Carefully connect the wiring harness to the control module according to the manufacturer's instructions. Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure and properly insulated.
Once the wiring is complete, follow the provided instructions to program the remote start key fob. After reconnecting the car battery, test the system to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
Finalize the installation by securely fastening all components and tidying up any loose wires. Take the time to read the user manual thoroughly to understand the system's features and operation.
If you're unsure about any step of the installation process, consider seeking assistance from a professional to avoid damaging your vehicle.
With the BimmerTech remote start kit installed, you'll enjoy the added convenience and comfort of being able to start your BMW F10 remotely, making your driving experience even more enjoyable.

Amazing job thanks for all you do !!! Did I hear you say that you have comfort access now ? Did I miss when you did that?
My car came with comfort access.
the king of f10
Thanks man!!!
As always great job Grant. How long do you reckon it would take without having to do camera work as well?
Probably around 2 hours for a fist timer.
Great vdo and nice content. just a quick question: is there any coding required?
Yeah, you will want to add the vo code for auto trunk and then I also used Bimmercode to adjust some features.
Hello Mrs Johnson One quick question I'm thinking about actually adding this to my 2015 535 x drive but I wanted to know if by adding this would void my 3rd party warranty? Just curious.
Oh, unfortunately I have no clue.
Hey Grant, I am about to order an extra set of G series keys for my F10 as I only have one original key, like you. I am curious if I can sacrifice one of the extra G keys from RVG performance instead of the original F key. Thanks
Any key programmed to your car will work.
Pretty neat, does this have the same safety features where the car will not start with the check engine light on?
Honestly I’m not sure. I didn’t even know that was a thing. Lol
@@JohnsonMotorsports Yea when remote start comes factory if your cel is on just for safety reasons it will not work
Just clarification on a new revelation as of 12/26/2023. At 2:30 in the video you mention that you can buy a spare key from BimmerTech. They no longer sell keys. In fact they told me on the phone yesterday, that the ONLY way to now get a spare key is from a BMW Dealership. Just called my dealer. $502.00. So make sure you figure this in to the cost of remote start. However, when you think about it, even with the key purchase, you now will have $1200 bucks invested in remote start, which is not that far off other aftermarket installs.
You can also just contact RVG Performance and send them your CAS module and have spare keys made. I had 2 new keys made last year.
@@JohnsonMotorsports I am not sure they are still doing it either. However, how much cheaper? When you consider my time to remove and ship, plus the fact that I now have Factory OEM as opposed to 3rd party equipment, it may or may not be worth it.
Only on g series they can’t make spares.
@@akakiki4111 If true, they probably still cannot compete. I just got one from my BMW dealer. It was $402 dollars. So considering my time to remove the control box, shipping to send it in, and having to rent a car for at least a week and their cost to make the key (which no one here seems to want to tell) I think I came out ahead buying from my dealer. Plus, I have genuine factory OEM equipment and not fake aftermarket knock off stuff. Just my 2 cents.
GRANT, how about the widows open feature and trunk open close ..on the fob?
What about that? Those are coded via Bimmercode.
Will this work on manuals?
Hey mate, whats the car charger kit you are using?
Oh, it’s a small Costco battery tender. Not really worth it.
I’m curious about how you switched to the newer key!
RVG took care of me on my key upgrade.

It sucks that these are the only options we have as owners of older BMW's. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to remote start my F10 from my phone and not be locked down to a super short distance or having to give up a key for that.
i can’t rationalize leaving a spare key in the car just for auto start
@@RayFiore13 100% agree.
Range isn’t bad, it’s what your normal key fob range is. Basically the same as my previous cars that have had remote start.
Depends on how you look at it. I had an extra key that never gets used. I had to dig and find it in an old drawer.
The key left in the car doesn’t have a battery and only get power for roughly 3 seconds when the remote start is activating. Not a concern for me.
the key fob range on the f10 is definitely further then other cars, i have a 2018 jeep grand cherokee summit as well and the bmw key fob range is longer by a decent margin, that is a very solid point about the spare key, im gonna have to have one made and then i’ll ship them out to have them upgraded before i invest in this mod, im definitely gonna follow this video grant! also as for the f10 i removed the engine and did an entire engine rebuild replacing almost everything so the engine is ready for 600 wheel and the stage 2 pure turbo with port injection. i have the AWD model so it was a massive pain
An I asked were are you located you made that look easy
😂 Thanks. I’m located in Oklahoma.
Grant how are you brother, I got 2011 bmw 528i v6 and the problem is high idling when I shift to drive and it stay 1000 rpm. I tried to clean throttle body but it doesn't change anything. do you think if I remove the battery terminal will reset the car.
I don’t think so. Do you have Ista or MHD. You can reset the throttle adaptations in both. Also, have you checked for a vacuum leak?
@@JohnsonMotorsports
Thank you Grant. I will check on it
I think i have exactly same model as you.. do u know where is our power steering oil tank?
Electric power steering, no reservoir tank.
@@JohnsonMotorsports thanks for answering me!! Then we don’t have to change our steering oil?
@@Kim42034 Nope. Unless you have a different model that I’m not aware of.
how did you do the g30 key upgrade?

How did you put the car play I have the same 2011 535 xi I couldn’t figure this out it will be really helpful
The Android Headunit I purchased came with wireless CarPlay.
That takes away the convenience of having remote start if it cuts off when you open the door. Deal breaker for me.
Depends on how you look at it. I would rather have the security of not having my car stolen.
And that is exactly why BMW did not come with remote start. Theft evaded...
why are your hands white ? i thought you were light skin dark skin dude...... weirdddddddddd lol
😂
