The person who doesn’t move off and reacts less in a street fight. Is the person you gotta watch out for. That man knows his capabilities and has already sized you up!

I can't tell you how many fights I have not been in by just not responding to verbal challenges. It is very easy. Also, being nice really works.

You're right. Of course, it's not going to work for everyone (e.g. the guy who gets maniacally angry every time he drinks or someone who's already decided going to fight/sucker punch someone). For most of the others, treating them with genuine respect and kindness - without sucking up and being careful not to make or voice any assumptions/stereotypes judgements about them.

People Don’t understand how much conditioning it takes to be able to fight. Some people Start fights on the street and just because they feel like they’re tough. Those are the guys that never win a fight.

I ignore verbal challenges, but if they insist on being addressed, I simply act civilized. There's a subtle difference between being civilized and nice. "Nice" is weakness.

Imagine being so drunk you lose a fight you started with a trashcan.
That said, most of the reasons here are because of ego. A lot can be avoided by playing off peoples aggression and letting it go. The fool in the street looking to pick a fight isn't doing it because it's a personal attack against you. They're doing it because there is something wrong with them. They're looking for someone who's going to be reactive, who's going to either get angry or get scared. By neither and you stand a much better chance of avoiding any fight altogether.

Try some Poitin, drink it like it's vodka or whiskey and ask your mates to record. Seen men fighting lampposts, oil storage tanks and phone boxes when they existed. Reminds me of a friend walking home, he got back to the house and claimed he was jumped by 20 men, a friend made a call and found out it was 1 13 year old who was bored. Alcohol makes you do some daft things.

Stay out of places alcohol is served or sold. Oh, and the NYC subway too.

👍👍. That's why i stopped going to the subway. Back then, i used to carry a tactical hunting knife with me on Subway for self-defense, or if I see someone attacking innocent people for no good reason. This is way back during my teens and 20s 2008 to 2018.

I nearly started a streetfight last year out of frustation with my thesis, but thankfully I de-descalated out of the fear of getting dropped out. Honestly most of the time, I realized that the threat is me; I'm impatient and seek troubles at times. Thankfully nothing bad ever happens

Just while running errands or walking with your family.

Sorry completely unrelated comment but I used to have a weak chin. I'm 5'1 and I already finished training BJJ, Muay Thai karate. *Until I was trying to learn boxing as my new self defense and I got membership at a boxing gym I used to sparr with friends I used to get my behind handed to me and got knocked out couple of time's. Until this random guy came and criticised my ability to do a proper boxing stance and my ability take a punch to chin. He and I talked about myself and week later he taught me about boxing to shadow boxing*
One stepping stone at time until I was getting. Better my stance is much better including my ability throw jabs and uppercut and my ability to feint and counter attack or counter punch is now way better then it used to be. *It took me 2.5 years just to be this good at boxing*
And I KO'd a local bully at gym I was 5'1 he was 6'0 he always. Used to take a jab at my abilities to throw a punch he always used to start something by making fun of me outside the gym and I told my instructor and friends they did nothing.
Until one day I finished sparring with my friends all of my friends and instructors left. The boxing gym and were going home. * I was leaving the boxing gym aswell and until this bully was waiting for me to leave he followed me said something from behind I turned around he mocks me cusses at me. Starts something I try to be the good guy and let it go he says something about my sister I lost control. We both got ready to fight we were both in fighting stance I hit him he hit me I threw a fake feint and uppercutted him and fell down and I used my BJJ ground chokehold to put him in submission until he gave up and he didn't bothered me again!*
This isn't about looking for bad guys body language and how to avoid confrontation or being aware of your situations this is simply don't let people bully and push you around especially bad people.
*Some how the person who trained me was watching this from far away don't know how. Always learn self defence like BJJ, Muay Thai and exercise. I now workout and skilled at BJJ, Muay Thai, Karate, and recently gotten good at boxing due to my good friend. And now looking for great instructor. To learn Krav Maga* always Learn self defense to protect yourself and your family and friends from bad people!
