This is a review of the Kobalt 40v electric lawn mower. Overall I was very impressed by this mower. It is very user friendly and it cuts very well. I do not like the battery life at all but if you have multiple batteries on hand it shouldn't be much of an issue.
    This is not sponsored.
This mower was bought at local Lowe's for around $340 with two batteries.

I absolutely LOVE my Kobalt mower. Also mine isn't RWD it's just the brushless model but it's awesome. You're spot on about the batteries you NEED two. Also, I purchased 2 additional blades which were only about 20 bucks

We recently purchased one of these Lawn Mowers. Thanks to RUclipsrs like this I was able to figure out how to run it when all other things like talking to customer service weren't helping me at all. It is a newer, Gen 4 mower that's quite different from the mower in the video but the operation principal is the same.

I had back problems a while ago. I also have a bank that I need to mow. I clearly needed a rear drove mower that was light. I am old school and was against new things like electric mowers. At the end of the season, this was the only mower in stock. I am so happy with it, I gave my other mower to my daughter. I also bought a weed Wacker by Kobalt. It is only 8 pounds. With my back problems, I could still weed wack. I am very happy with both and I would recommend both to anyone.

I enjoy night mowing often. It's usually a dusk mow that evolves. The benefit it is that sometimes you can't find your previous cut and you end up doing a quadruple cut. 4 times the enjoyment.

The Greenworks (they make the Kobalt brand for Lowes) 60v is worth spending up for as it provides better tall grass power , internally routed cables, two battery ports and a much nicer handle.

I purchased this mower today at Lowe's for $300. I mowed my front lawn and part of my back. The mower itself is great - lightweight, easy to handle, very smooth and quiet, and of course, there's no gas or oil to deal with. HOWEVER, the battery could be a major problem. The battery that came with the mower is: Kobalt 40v Max 5.0 Ah Extended Run Lithium Ion. The manual said it would take two hours to charge which was correct. It also said it would last up to 40 minutes. This was my first use, and it was fully charged, but it only lasted 25 minutes. The one battery didn't last long enough for me to finish mowing my entire lawn, so I looked into purchasing a second one. It's $150 for one battery. That's 50% of the entire mower cost. No way I'm paying that much for a battery. And what's worse, the vast majority of the reviews of the battery were very negative. Many reviewers said the battery died after a short period of time and was no longer chargeable. I really hope that doesn't happen to me.

A big factor in the battery life is how much grass you are cutting off with each mow. I will also say that I highly recommend the toro 60v mower over this mower every day of the week. That mower is league's above this kobalt

Just returned a ryobi push, my grass barely needed a cut and was dry, and whooped the mower. The battery lasted but it barely cut as if the blade was dull. It was the $300 model. I'm hesitant to get another 40v, considering the 56v ego or a 80v kobalt.

Well after seeing your video and the mower in action. I might consider it now. My yard and side yard is similar to size in yours and my son cuts it when I cut our huge back yard. This would be perfect for him or my wife.

*I bought two of these to double-team a 2/3 acre plot with my friend.🚜 **allabout.wiki/KT** We used to use a mowing service, but $240/month was adding up fast. We needed lawn equipment, and rather than spend $1200 on a cheap ridable mower, we spent the same amount with GreenWorks on two of these mowers, four 2AH batteries, two rechargers, a blower and a trimmer. I'm glad I did. These mowers are easy to push, plow through thick grass, can be used at night due to their low noise, are effortless to start, don't stink of gas, and I love always having a charged battery available. I've found that a battery can fully charge before I drain a battery (~45 minutes), so the two of us never have to stop. We get our yard done in about 1.5 hours and hardly break a sweat. We have been mowing weekly and actually enjoy doing it, despite the two of us claiming we hated mowing grass. Seems we only disliked the inconveniences that gas-powered equipment bring. Thank you GreenWorks for making lawn care fun for us.*

@@TheLawnWhisperer Only pulling your proverbial leg.I have the same mower. The first time I used it my lawn was 6-8" long and kinda damp. When I saw the mulch I said the same as you. We're on the same side.😁

@@TheLawnWhisperer I just posted a minute or do ago that I agree with you. Mine did the same thing. It was not 100% but it'll do.It took 3-4 lawn cuttings over the next month where it was remulched a few times to start doing its thing.I was laughing with you not at you.I apologize for the misunderstanding, my friend. And yes my machine over all does work fine as yours does.I've been using mine for the last 3 years no problem.😁
