- In this video, I totally redeem myself from my last card show fail by scoring some amazing deals at the Midwest Sports Buffet Card Show in Bridgeview, IL!
The weather was so nice on Sunday, I wanted to make sure to get a round of Disc Golf in. And since I was out I checked the old Googles to see if there were any Card Shows, and it happened to be the weekend for this month's Chicago Card Show put on by the Midwest Sports Buffet! My main reason for going was to check out the seller who I bought my 1st vintage card of 2024, the 1948-49 Leaf Cliff Aberson. The same seller was there and I bought another card from him! Another Cliff Aberson! 😂. This one however has a unique print defect where the back of the card has bleed through to the front, giving the card a unique appearance!
Along with my vintage pick up, I found a great number of tables that had some CHEAP cards! One dollar cards, 3 for a dollar, and 4 for a dollar where all available for the taking at this month's show! The awesome thing about these cheap cards is that they were quality cards! I got a handful of 2023 Topps Chrome and 2023 Topps Update Chrome Inserts, including Rookie Cards often under a dollar a card! I came away with only 2 doubles I think which is pretty good! Some boxes were already starting to be filed with 2024 Series 1 and I was able to snag some 1989 Inserts along with a couple of the Blueprint inserts!
For a budget collector like me, the bargain boxes can make or break a trip to a card show. Finding quality cards for a low price along with not having to pay shipping and taxes makes Card Shows the best place to get cheap cards! This show's purchases came to $39 and I got WAY better cards then if I bought a box of retail!
Oh, I almost forgot, did you spot the special guest signer?!? Former Bear and Commanders Head Coach, Ron Rivera!

I love seeing those vintage baseball cards in the display cases, especially when the cards are priced. It's great when you walk out of a show and most cars are gone. Oh geez at least the weather was unseasonably warm when you got wet feet.
Yeah, the warm weather helped! 😂. I think going to the show around closing time worked in my favor. Alot of people had started going from $1 boxes to 5 for a $1 boxes! Thanks for watching Steven!

The Cliff Aberson looks cool
to me! Makes it look even more vintage. My favorite among the pickups. I think Bellinger has another big season for the Cubbies.
I haven’t had to face a creek where I play disc golf at. It’s been dry around here so where the creek would be is dried up right now.I’ll probably have a similar experience soon as it begins to rain more.
Great pickups! I’m partial to the vintage so I’ll go with the Lead Aberson card as my favorite. But the Kellogg’s is cool too.

Some great cards here. Nice mix of players and teams. The recon Josiah Gray is awesome. Hopefully Bellinger can keep producing like last year for us. Enjoyed seeing the mash up here. Enjoy disc golf Doug!

Sounds like disc golf was a little rough this go around...but you totally killed it at the card show tho sooooooo...I'm gunna call it a pretty not bad day my friend!!! Favorite card will have to be the Mookie Titans insert, but the vintage Cubs card with the ink bleed was truly a beauty as well!!! I hope that your week is treating you well!!!👊🏻❤️💯🙏🏻

I feel like they now call your name when you walk into that card show like Norm, you give a witty card related response and the proceed to shuffle through cards. Fun pick ups and nice set additions.

Tons of great value buys. You hit a bunch of set needs. Nice vintage pickups! I know you’re newer to the vintage purchases but it usually helps expand your collection if you don’t keep picking up the same card! Haha 😂 JK that’s actually really cool with the ink bleed. Nice!
Looks like the back 9 was better than the front 9 . When I played regularly every now and then I could shoot par 😂the good old days . Nice pickups
Most stuff was way overpriced at the show in Dallas I went to. But a few gems.

That seems like a pretty nice show. Maybe I will take a drive this summer and visit it. I like the Griffey Allen&Ginter the best, although it would have been better if it was a Mariners card. Rock and Roll to you my friend
