No worries, thats great. You can make your own ring fence too! I did that in a viedo on the shelf brackets i think

Real nice job on the bullnose step - especially dealing with an engineered flooring! One trick I've used is to cut the veneer portion of the riser long enough to accommodate a pair of opposing wedges at one end where it meets the solid portion of the step. Just helps to pull it all tight around the curve.
That's a good idea Jonathann thankyou, so cut it 20/30mm longer then use long folding wedges to pull on the shoulder. 👍👍

As someone who's completed their level 3 in furniture making but would like to progress into more traditional joinery (windows, doors ect), your videos are fantastic :)

Find a company that does joinery work and go and try to work for them even if you have to start at the very bottom. Do Bench Joinery or Carpentry and joinery at night in college if you can.
This will give you a good all round approach. Another way is just to do small jobs for people and learn as you go along and apply your furniture making skills to that area.

Dude, you're surely doing yourself a disservice calling yourself a 'joiner'. I mean no disrespect to joiners, but this is something different, this is true craftsmanship!

Beautiful work Matey. As a time served carpenter joiner 5yr city and guilds old school I am leaving site to do more joinery bit rusty haha but would love to see more spindle moulder work as I am setting up my workshop ,got a small scheppac spindle but need to brush up on spindle cutters etc for doors and Windows so advice would great love your wk shop and attitude and your tutorials , rgds Mike from devon

Beautiful work, top notch. A thought: in hindsight, how awesome would it have been if the glue line of your end grain bullnose blocks had lined up with the joint in the flooring? That would have reinforced the illusion of big, thick solid planks.
Yeah, mega!! to be honest i was flying by the seat of my pants, turned up to the job and asked to make a step that day lol, but yeah would have been sweet!
Seriously impressive craftsmanship and skill learning so much from your videos which have benefited me so much in my work - if you don’t mind me asking what glue where you using through this project as I’m finding it hard to find a quality on in cartridge format.
Thankyou Harry. I'm glad I've been of use! In this one I used everbuild, lumberjack wood adhesive, it's what the guy I'm working for uses a lot of and wanted me to use. It's great in that it sets rock hard and very quickly, but it's maybe a little too quick setting for my normal useage. I normally use a pu adhesive from sovereign Chemicals called PU Rapid. Seems to give you a little more open time and doesn't set as rock hard as this stuff. They both have their uses I guess

superb! What kind of glue did you use to stick the base to the floor? Also, slightly related...for a curved frame and panel door, say in a kitchen island, would you make the door fit a carcase or the other way round, make a curved door first and then make the frame carcase fit the door? Brilliant craftsmanship! Thanks
Thank buddy. I used a PU Glue from everbuild, it's what this site I'm working for like to use a lot of and is readily available. It also sets clear so was invisible after peeling the tape off. It sets like rock too. So should support the load from the step well.
Always start with the frame, curved work like that will normally be laminated timbers and just work to the same former for both frame and door/panel. Have to say that curved solid panel doors isn't something I've ever done so couldn't shed any light on the matter really

Cheers matey, I mainy for the speed on a project like this, i only had the day to do it. Ive used pva and UF glue for veneering, the latter being the best but very time consuming!

A surgeon once advised not to wear gloves around machinery. The reason being if you cut yourself he would have to spend considerable time picking pieces of glove out of the cut before he could commence repair work
Makes sence Paul. I like the safety of the grip over bare hands on slippy timbers but have always got in my mind should I shouldn't I and will decide based on the job in hand. If I'm being "dangerous they come off"
Sometimes were handling wood you want protection to stop splinters cutting your self on rough edges.
You have to make a judgement call in terms of safety.

I take my hat off to you on the workmanship but I’m pretty sure you would have been better off using a solid step and saved yourself a awful lot of time.
Could have done, but it didnt take too long, nice to have the continuity of the flooring and you still have the problem of finishing the curve on the flooring.

I think this one was everbuild 5 minute PU. Decent stuff sets really quick and hard. Has a bit of a smell to it though
What kind brand of glue are you using?
In this was builder supplied lumber jack PU stuff i think. I like the Wood Weld PU

Yeah I know this...honest 😂 I actually laughed after filming that, I don't know why but I've been saying numbers in my head in German lately.(too much time alone in the workshop) and looked at is as a 45... So fünfundvierzig then got in my head (funf)5 and 4... (Vier) so naturally said 540 😀😀... I'll stop explaining my crazy head now, but yeah luckily It turned out ok 🤣
