I bet this is one of the earliest if not the first teardown I've seen for the S22 series... I was eager to see the linear vibration motor the rumors were talking about...
I forgot about it since it wasn't placed in any usual place, but its tucked between the screen and frame on the bottom of the phone. You can see the cable/connector for it next to the connector for the screen on the bottom of the phone. I will take a better look at the S22+ and if its the same will pry the display off to show it.
Thanks for the teardown - very well done! The amount of stuff Samsung has packed into this frame is insane! No wonder they had to shrink the battery. The phone is essentially packed as tight as you could possibly manage in a phone this size. Compare this to something like the Pixel, and you can see why they can't shrink the phones as much as Samsung can. The S22 has the form factor and weight of the Pixel 4a, while packing almost all the features of the pixel 6 pro. Some things are actually better than the Pixel 6 Pro.
Thank you for this quick and detailed breakdown, pre-ordered this phone a couple days ago and super relieved that it's relatively easy to replace the parts if needed, subscribed!

I don't know how to thank you man!! I bought new s22 and accidentally poke the mic hole instead of sim tray. I knew that nothing will happen to the mic but I was worried thinking I may broke the water resistant seal. And in the end of the video you just explained it very well..now i can use my s22 peacefully.. thank you...with love from india♥️

Thanks. Not sure if I will do a battery test since I already took the phone apart and wouldn't be too accurate with the battery being removed etc. You can get an idea of the battery drain with the benchmark test video I did on the phones but in general its hard to do the battery tests since everyone complains about certain things not being tested the way they want it and it's impossible to test in every method and way lol.

please do a battery test! nevertheless, judging by the size of the battery and the space around it, they could have kept the 4000mah from the s21 easily, but...they didn't
Edit: watched the S22+ teardown and you cleared it up. Thanks! Hey there. Why didn't you remove to the display¿ I wanted to compare the sizes of the cooling system to the S22U, I hope there aren't many differences in the layout other than the S22U using a vapor chamber to dissipate heat
Great video, it makes the job look easy. Question for you. Lost my S22, found it the next day under a sheet of ice. Amazingly the phone still worked. Powered it down and attempted to dry it out 48hrs later. When I power it on the screen is black but I can see a little flashing of white and then it goes away. What replacement part do I need to order to get the screen working. Is it the screen itself or one of the board components?
You would need to take the phone apart and dry out any liquid inside, disconnect the battery also, and brush off any corrosion on chips or connectors with a small brush to make sure it doesn't short and render the device unrepairable. Then put it back together and see if it works, if not you would need to replace the screen to see if that's the problem or if the problem is with the main board. If with the board then most likely you would need to get a new phone since it won't be worth attempting to fix.
another observation I had was, they could make that camera bump go away, and have just raised lenses like the s22 ultra, even without making the phone any thicker. Maybe they don't do it for cost reasons ? (manufacturing cost maybe higher ?)
Thanks for the great video. I'm a dumb guy and I inserted the sim card ejector tool in the wrong hole, the one next to the actual sim card hole. You said in the video that it shouldn't affect the microphone, but does it affect the waterproofing? I honestly felt something bent inside when I inserted it. That's how I realized it was the wrong hole. I don't know if you still have the S22 (not the plus or the ultra, the basic version) and if you can actually check if the sim tool would affect the water proofing, that would be great. The worst part of all this is that after I realized my dumb mistake I noticed that Samsung put a sticker on the back of the phone guiding the user to the correct hole and basically instructing dumb guys like me to not insert it there. So I know the mic it's not damaged thanks to your video but I'm now worried about the water proofing because I honestly felt something bent inside. I'm sorry for bothering you. Keep up the great channel!

Did I hear the phone may not have a mmwave antenna, or c-band? There was an antenna on each side but I didn't understand. I have a Note20 Ultra and am upgrading just for the c-band that I think/thought the S22 Ultra gets 3 bands, 5g that's slow as 4g and worthless as far as marketed speeds, c-band that is supposed to be what the airlines and faa and buttigieg stopped for weeks (while faa and airlines had 2 years to test), then the short distant must see the transmitting antenna to get fastest mmwave. As far as I've read, mmwave and c-band are still unicorn bands. Heard of it, never seen any tests of it. And I sure don't need to upgrade if the S22 anything don't have all 3 band antenna. Does the S22 Ultra in my case, pick up all 3 bands - if they really are there?
I own this device and I'll say one thing phone manufacturers are doing wrong is antenna placement. This phone in particular has multiple antenna lines on the bottom 1/3 of the phone. This is the location your hands will be wrapped around the phone blocking a good chunk of signal. I have confirmed this. If I hold my phone upside down it's markedly faster on cellular data transmission. Why no one realized covering the antenna with your hands would block signal. It's even more amazing manufacturers don't know this or that folks hold their phones..... Crazy.
There are usually multiple antennas, typically one at bottom, one at top and on sides as well as the back of the phone. When your hands are covering certain locations, other antennas will kick in or be used as well. Most modern phones use this policy.
