    your right its very easy to break tooling on a cnc machine. i used to run an intermac ct pro in the stone industry. it had iso 40 cones which make your iso 20 cones look like toys. initially the boss bought milling tools by the carton. after awhile i could get them to last for hundreds of meters if not more. Now i dabble with dragonframe, some dmx lights and arduino and lego for a hobby. That little armature is a real feat of engineering and congrats on the 100 000 subs.

    Congratulations on the milestone - very much deserved!
    When machining thin materials like that brass sheet, cut a shallow pocket in the aluminium to hold the stock. That way, the stock can't be pushed sideways and the superglue will do a better job. Also, sand the bottom of the pocket and clean it with acetone for extra grip.

    Make a thin magnetic ring around your work area to catch any magnetic items and to keep others from falling outside that area. Make it wide enough so it can’t bounce out either. Does not have to be very tall either. Something simple if you don’t want the magnet thing like a flexable cord that can be placed around your work area. Easier to find things that way. I have a magnet on a stick to swipe under things to catch any magnetic item I drop.

    Cyanoacrylates (superglues) break down when heated - so my guess is the parts heated up when being machined and that caused them to make a bid for freedom... But I'm probably wrong - as the coolant should have helped with that problem. Maybe, as the tapping had completed at the point they detached - you could make a tiny jig that the parts could be flipped and screwed into from below - to allow the final separation operation to complete.

    • @edupuertasfruns
      @edupuertasfruns  3 года назад +1

      I place the coolant thinking the same but I think that the part got tension and spring when it got the temperature

    I see how difficult it is to build such tiny joints, and thought you maybe could replace the screw system by some kind of a "U" shape spring to pinch and hold the 2 copper parts together. I don't know if it makes any sense for you, and maybe you already tried it in the past... just an idea I got watching this video.
    Keep up the good/fantastig work, and congratulations again !

    could you please tell me what ball and socket armature kit that is inexpensive or cheap? My wire ones keep breaking when I’m animating them and I just keep remaking them, it’s not hard it’s making me much better but I want to make some of my puppets with ball and socket armatures but can’t make my own because I can’t afford a lathe and those other big tools.please respond! Btw I know it’s really hard for you to look at all the comments so I won’t comment unless it’s important.

    • @MaximilianonMars

      There's Jeff Lafferty who has a more ghetto approach, it works. He uses ball bearings which have tapped holes in them already, he silver soldered them together with a threaded rod, but I think they could be JB welded with similar results.
      Check it out, his look decent and more accessible for us without the cool machines. Edu also sells these armatures, they are an investment as they are a bit expensive.
      For example I'm considering to buy the professional armatures from Edu for my main characters, but make the wire ones for the one off characters.

    You mentioned finding smaller screws, have you looked into watchmaker screws? I remember Adam Savage showed a small screw organizer he got from a viewer who was a watchmaker, and the viewer sent in a watch gear that was microscopic, wouldn't be surprised if there was other parts that small.

    • @edupuertasfruns
      @edupuertasfruns  3 года назад

      I am sure watchmaking is a good direction, but I don't find any shop offering it

    • @pikofluff
      @pikofluff 3 года назад

      I was also thinking about the Savage Video ( "New Tiny Parts Sorter")
      @@edupuertasfruns I did a bit of searching and found that a shop that sells watchmaking stuff is an "Horological supplier"
      Here's some links that might be useful:
      www.rnhorological.co.uk/clock_material.htm
      www.rnhorological.co.uk/taps%20and%20dies.htm
      www.watch-tools.de/uhrenteile/schrauben.php
      theindex.nawcc.org/ToolsParts.php
      An other option is to find an independent watchmaker/watch repair shop to visit and ask if you could buy some screws or if they could tell you where to look for small screws. If you bring one of your armatures to show and they're not too grumpy they'll probably help you :)
