    RIP Richard Winters.
Amazing video. Thanks for sharing. As well as the Jeeps some of the cars in that video are already modern classics themselves now!
Sad that many of them are no longer with us.

It must have brought memories flooding back for these brave men that were there so many years before. I'm sure it was uplifting to them and sad as well all at the same time. I'm sure it was special for them to have closure on that time of their important lives.

YITKV, thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video with us, the mere mortals. What a lucky person you are to have been able to actually be among these real heroes. God rest and bless all of their souls. No praise from my lips can ever do justice to what these men accomplished in WW2. The likes of which we shall never see again.

Why are there four thumbs down for this. These men are real heroes none of your premier football *****. Just like our men in Afghanistan today they put thier lives on the line for freedom and should be honoured as such. Thankyou for posting.

The Jeep now resides in or near San Clement CA! If you see it around you'll recognise it by the UK license plate!

@loosekarrott Yes, that is me driving the jeep! Following on from this visit to the UK, I was invited to stay with Dick and his wife Ethel on their farm in Fredericksburg PA the following year. I also dropped in on them in Hershey in 1998 whilst passing through with my wife.

Thank you very much for posting this. They truly were, a Band of Brothers - then, and now. THose who came back said those who didn't were the real heroes. IMHO they all were.

I wonder if they even saw the modern cars, modern buildings, modern anything. They mustve seen it like they did 60/70 years ago...i really wish i could have met richard. It would have been nothing short of an honor. Or Carwood.

My suggestion is to put some kine of captions up as the film progresses so we can glean the information as we see it. I'm a slow reader and could't keep up with your Star Wars type writing at the beginning.

Thanks for sharing, from the books and mini-series I feel like I know these men personally. Just out of interest, do the men refer to Winters as Major or by first name?

@B17FFlyingFortress I think the book was already done and dusted at this point. Ambrose was using the trip to research his D-Day book . Yes Mum does look good!

It is sad that despite the fact that death is inevitable, we still manage to find a reason to die sooner. So when given a reason to live in a world where we make everything mean anything, we choose that meaning to live to die before we were actually intended to. I mean it, it's depressing hearing about death, id never fight a war. Not because i'm a coward but because I would never make my purpose to kill people whose cause is justified through ignorance, or taint.
