Man... the 'blood eagle' thing is such a pet peeve of mine. It's not real and never was, just like the iron maiden, it was invented in comparatively recent times to 'show how barbaric' people used to be in the olden days, so 'modern' people could feel morally superior. In reality, once you massively breach the rib cage (as you'd have to), the vacuum is broken and both lungs collapse immediately. The victim would suffocate in like a minute and that's that, it's all over. Also lungs can't inflate by themselves, it's the diaphragm working against the sealed system inside the chest cavity that allows breathing. So yeah, the "blood eagle" is completely unrealistic and just silly... 😂 I guess it does let them reuse the prop they made for the Viking zone years ago....
