Bro taught me to windmill, Cork, round of backflip. Backflip, hero, front, side, cheat gainer, gainer, cong and other vaults. Wall jump. Some of these weren't directly taught by him, but by using techniques I learnt from him. What a G.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for posting these videos. I learned this move in like... 1983 I think. I had (well, me - my crew, and all the crews in town) bruises on one hip (the first hip to contact the floor after you begin rotation) for an entire summer as we figured this move out. They were so bad, we were using old school knee pads on our bruised hips while we practiced. But once one guy broke through and figured it out - it was the coolest thing. The sense of accomplishment was never really equaled, even with headspins. It's like the ice breaking move, if you can learn this, then with dedication, there are no limits. Except for flares ;) I never got those down. I'm 50 now... A little out of shape, but after watching this and a couple of your other videos, I think I will put the Flare on my new years resolution list. I still have my basic 80's footwork, and am working on recovering my toprock (thanks to your video, btw) and can still do the windmill too.. though not sure I can bust out no-handers just yet (maybe on a padded floor, haha). So, thanks for the effort and dedication you display. I'm inspired. Peace!
Jerry Hazard - dude, your comment gave me flashbacks...summer '84, in the garage with 3 layers of cardboard snagged from the back of Sears (Whirlpool or Kenmore boxes). We'd run inside and watch VHS tapes of music videos to study the moves, then go try to recreate battle scenes from Beat Street like the Roxy or the subway while blasting music like Herbie Hancock or 'Battle Cry Rockers Revenge' on a giant boom box from a bootleg cassette tape. Fat laces, wrist and head bands, bandanas color matched to your knee pads. And you are so right - there was nothing like the feeling of putting your first few windmills together...or windmilling into a backspin so fast you'd get light-headed. I watch these Bboy Powermove vids now and react just like the crowds "OOOOHHHHH, DAAAAAAMMMMNNNN, WHAAAAAAT???" The new stuff is unreal. I think "hell yeah, let's find a mat at a gym and bust out some of this!" Then, I check my mail and have letters from AARP. 😫
trendgil me to... well... 36... give or take a few serious injuries like death... but hey kicking it old school with shoddy knees and responsibilities.... YEAH!!!
As a beginner, I really appreciate this: the most comprehensive, intuitive tutorial I've ever seen. I've tried to learn this several times, then given up. But after this video, I'm actually able to give it one full rotation at a time now, with a good understanding of what my body is supposed to be doing. I have to give my wrist a rest break for a day or two, but for the first time I'm confident that I can do it, with some more practice.
The windmill was one of the first moves I learned back when I was around 14. The hardest part is coming back around. Instead of going into the turtle freeze like he is teaching, think of it as rolling down a hill, keep hands tucked in and legs open. Once you gain speed, you can learn the different windmill variations. Nutcracker and the handcuff were my favorite. These days now windmill is considered a basic powermove and the airfare is the standard.
Yea it's like the basic Casade of the whole breakdance movements rhythmic, I always wanted to learn the Baby mills & the those variations also sound dope.
I learned windmills when I was 15..no Internet back then, had to watch VHS tapes...took me 1 year to figure it out myself...after that I was windmill king, nutcrackers, no handers, barrel mills even baby mills
Me: That's rad! *i imagine myself breakdancing for 5 minutes* Breaker style unlocked Me 30 seconds later: slams back on the floor and kicks into a corner, damaging my pinkie
WOW the physics of that motion is fascinating. I had to keep an eye on your left foot throughout the spin just to see, and better understand, how you're actually moving. This one dance-move has always been something I've wanted to learn. Thank you for the awesome tutorial.
Nah, the best one was an in person session I got from from a street performer in a train station in Chiba Japan, back in the 2005ish. Asians doing powermoves...psh.
I have always wanted to learn this. You do a good job breaking it down. I'm 50 so I better get going before any more injuries slow me down. Thanks for making this video and thanks for doing it so we can learn not just trying to be all cool and trying to show everybody how cool you are.
IMO this is the best Windmill I have viewed. I was able to do the windmill back in the early 80's after pain, tears and lots of bruises. I am going to learn to Windmill again, and this lesson will make it a lot easier, as I am a lot older. Brilliant work Pigme. Hip Hop all the way.
Thanks bro this video taught me how to windmill no problem. It took me a few months to get good at it, but anyone who’s trying, can learn. u just gotta focus
For anyone out there who have been working on this and it's not working, as an old man now, who used to do windmills, I do disagree with prerequisities portion of the video. Just because you can backspin may not really mean you have what it takes to do mills. I can still back spin well even as an old man, but my mills are long gone. I did not get mills fast, and so I remember practicing this for a long time not understanding why I couldn't get mills down and I learned during that time you really should have strong hip flexibility to really allow your legs to open when you mill. Without flexible hips that allow your hips/legs to really open, your legs will never really gain that momentum to allow you to fly even if you get the technique down. When I finally got my mills way back when, the way I would describe it is it was like flying, once I did the initial technique to get the mill started, my legs and the momentum just did the work for me. If you look at OP he's got excellent flexibility in his hips, (doesn't have to be like acrobat level) that allows his legs to lock and carry him once he's gotten going. It was a completely different experience then when I was just bruising up all my shoulders and legs trying to get it to work. W/o the hip flexibility to open up and allow your legs to take you, you'll always feel like you're doing the starting technique over and over again, so it's boring as all heck, but I would work on splits, and a bunch of hip opening/flexibility exercises in order for you to take advantage of all the technique that's here. Take it from a formerly unathletic young dude who's now an old and unathletic old dude.
I’ve been learning windmills lately and rewatching your 5 min tutorial over and over again but thank you for this!! This is a really good early birthday gift :)
I love this new (“no nonsense”) style of tutorial Lucas ...not that your other tuts are any less for the additional entertainment style - but I really think this is a very good explanation of the move.
Did this for about an hour, and boy do I need some work 😂 my wrist hurts, my hip aches and my left ribs are very upset but over all I enjoyed this! I think. . . Im going to practice this for a while and let you know how I improve! Thanks!

At 18 I used to windmill instinctively to the breakdance beat. Now at 58, with thirty years off, I gotta think about it step by step with this video. I'm almost there. When young, the body just moves and the mind has to catch up. Older it's in reverse lol.

I tried this 2 years ago and bruised up my shoulder and hip. I tried this again yesterday and I did it!! You can do it guys. Even if it seems impossible. Just the spelling of impossible is spelled «I’m possible». You can do anything.
I went into this with full confidence, ready to rule the world and knock this out of the ballpark! Ready to show off my dance skills and my sweet moves to those who doubted me! Knowing nothing could possibly get in my way and i couldn't be defeated or made a fool of! Then i went for it- down on the ground ready for victory- and my noodle arms gave out immediately... I didn't win this battle, but ill prepare and win the war!
I have to learn this move the day of a big event at my school because people voted for me to do that. This tutorial was easy to understand and the step by steps are clean. I have to go!
@@aynomyusdude1019 Oh my goodness, thanks for reminding me that I left this comment. I performed this move perfectly! I was the only one who was able to perform this in our opening for the event. This was my final year in high school: It was basically split by grade levels, and as a senior representative, I wanted to capture this move in particular since every member wanted to make this last class event a little more exotic with individual seniors breaking a move. Members from different kinds of clubs joined (Chinese, Kpop, Hip Hop, etc.) and several others like me who never joined a club had fantastic and unique moves to add flair to our last moments. It went well, and the rest of our dance (10minutes total of straight dancing, with chairs, flips, motorcyclist and beach items) sent our audience into blazing cheers across the stands. Just imagine one side of a football stadium filled on all seats, that's how many visitors and guests my high school had. Fantastic times and great memories.
I had such a problem learning the left arm motion cuz i kept landing on my shoulder which hurt like hell but thanks to your step learning it with legs on the ground i was able to land safely without any pain(did take a couple tries tho)
I did breakdance for like 7 years and I don't know almost anything anymore lmao. That's why I'm here. I want to learn windmill because I never even learned it though.
Hey pigmie, I love your tutorial and I am starting to get the windmill. But I have a back that looks like a sideways mountain and is limiting me quite a bit, any advice on how I could improve the windmill even though my back is very much f*cked?
same bro i got anterior pelvic tilt and it do be stressful on my lower back whenever i do it wrong, best bet is to fix your posture/back problems or just breakdance using the correct form so it doesnt hurt.

Awesome voiceover man, so soothing to listen to. Inspiration for my tutorials!
Great vid as always! Awesome to see how much better your tutorials are now!!!
This is so in depth and yet I still feel overwhelmed 😅
I wonder if I can do this if I have had wrist surgery 😢
Practicing on a hard surface gives me extra damage resistance

Let's be honest most of us are in bed and can't even split
No problem
Just checking out the video weather it's good for learning or not

I burned my eyelids/retinas off on my first attempt. Do you offer instructions in braille?
I now use his smooth, silky voice as a sleep aid.

Best teaching video of the windmill ever!
bruh, i used to be able to some breakdancing when i was overweight and in elementary school. Now im less overweight but forgot how to do it. took me months to learn a coffee grinder and a baby freeze. I miss those days :(

@loretta 0726 in the final Agni Kai, Zuko uses a windmill technique used in air bending against Azula

I tried this 2 years ago and bruised up my shoulder and hip. I tried this again yesterday and I did it!! You can do it guys. Even if it seems impossible. Just the spelling of impossible is spelled «I’m possible». You can do anything.
Never knew Zac Efron is a breakdance instructor!
Iv learned the final key motion to it thank you much appreciated 🙏
MY FAVOURITE breakdance is the Windmills. I just love watching them.
I have to learn this move the day of a big event at my school because people voted for me to do that. This tutorial was easy to understand and the step by steps are clean. I have to go!
Did you learn it, and how was the dance at the school?

I can’t stress how helpful the hip-pop up tip was, thank you.
I did breakdance for like 7 years and I don't know almost anything anymore lmao. That's why I'm here. I want to learn windmill because I never even learned it though.

I was like... ok not do hard until my turtle kept deciding not to freeze with the legs off the ground 😢
How does he keep his legs off the ground? Am I just weak?
I love watching the pros like yourself doing the windmill, that's enough for me 👌
Going to a wedding soon, I'm sitting on the couch figuring out which fail army vidio ima be in!🤣😳
It keeps hurting my bones behind my lower back and the side of hips is it normal ?
ye
Ummm
You need to spin with the upper back not the lower one.
Hey pigmie, I love your tutorial and I am starting to get the windmill. But I have a back that looks like a sideways mountain and is limiting me quite a bit, any advice on how I could improve the windmill even though my back is very much f*cked?
Yeah bro start to fix your back then learn the windmill 👍🏽🤣
same bro i got anterior pelvic tilt and it do be stressful on my lower back whenever i do it wrong, best bet is to fix your posture/back problems or just breakdance using the correct form so it doesnt hurt.
@@jaylin8704 i'm doing exercises to fix my back already, but thanks for the advice still👍
I'm 50, use to breakdance and getting my son into it. I surprisingly still did some and son was amazed. Gonna do some today as exercise
