This is a beautiful song and Karen sounds just like Twinkie on this song. I wish they would play old gospellike this on the radio. Everything is so commercial now!
thomas was pure genius i love his work , if he we're still here no telling what .... he left us song awesome music and introduced great artist such as YOLANDA, VANESSA ..and so many more
Such a humble human being. I have had the Honor of working with him and winning the Maestro's Peoples Choice Award for Best Lead Guitar in 1992; the year of his untimely death. I am so fortunate to have known him, he will be missed forever!
Yep, I remember hearing this song around 1990. My uncle and aunt has this album, and they played it all the time. This song somehow brings back precious memories of my uncle and our family picnics in the 90's. I love this song alot!
I would say that there are some similarities in the bass line between the two however, this song has a way different feel/chords than the Isley Brother's song which also is a tight sounding song...
@fawnsworld81 their voices did not comefrom Twinkie, she influnced them greatly, but they all have their own stlye now.. andhave developed their own style
@dpeterson381 What on earth are you talking about? o_O Please pay attention. I didn't deny Twinkie's greatness or her legacy as a musician, writer or composer. This has nothing to do with that. I addressed the statement, 5 months ago, that she DID teach the Sisters a tremendous amount. Having said that, they all have created their own niche & style as individual vocalists and music artists. That's the facts. I don't know where you're coming from with the other stuff.
That's... really got nothing to do with what I said, but ok lol. No doubt, Thomas was the man in general. I have to give him credit where it's do. But that part I mentioned was so noticeably off tempo
@fawnsworld81 Twinkie is not God and she's not the creator. Their voices don't "come" from her. Yes, she taught the Sisters alot but everyone has carved out their own style.
I loved me Thomas Whitfield back in the day. But it always annoyed me how he or his background vocalists would sing like... a split second ahead of the tempo. You can really tell it at at 2:52 when they start that "Man shall pass away" part. Otherwise, great song and great artists.
How are we really sure that this is Karen Clark Sheard!!! I say this because she sounds like Twinkie at some parts, but the majority of the song she sounds just like her big sis DORINDA!!!! Karen doesn't sound like herself at all on this song!!! But I love it!!

@Sc0rpion 1990 originally off of his "My Faith" cd
The Isley Brothers did this around 35 years ago in the mid 70's... "Living for the Love of you"
