I am so glad I met Thomas Whitfield!! It was 1980 when I traveled to where Thomas Whitfield was the organist at this church in Detroit. I almost fell off the church bench asking "who is this person?" Growing up in the Methodist church, I had never heard of him. As a songwriter, I include his style in many songs I've written. Thank you Thomas... I cried when I heard of your passing... I'll see you again. Please play the piano for me when I get to heaven...
This medley is an absolute masterpiece! It sums up every nearly EVERY essence of Thomas Whitfield's music, and is a must-hear for every student of gospel music. It is also a moving tribute to all of us who adored Thomas Whitfield and the Whitfield Company. I'm still amazed that this was the LAST track on his very LAST album! It is as if he KNEW he was going to leave here! SMH
Rest In Heaven Mr. Thomas Whitfield.... you created the themes that ushered worship and shaped true praise for generations... people are still being blessed because of your God was given gift
