The girl impersonating Eddie Reader should not have even been in the final. She beat a guy in her heat who did a far better job of impersonating Justin Hayward and it takes something for me to say that anyone trying to impersonate Justin Hayward comes even close but Fairground Attraction had had a hit recently so she resonated with the studio audience. Although, by the time of the final, that was the only hit that Fairground Attraction ever had, so she had to perform the same song again and, as a result, finalists were allowed to perform the same song as in the heats since.
Fairground Attraction split in 1990. This was 1994. So Fairground Attraction didn't 'recently' have a single out. Eddi Reader released a solo album in 1994(an Eponymously titled album) with 3 singles released off it - Patience of Angels, Joke, and Dear John. I can't imagine her having sung any of those. I would imagine on a show such as this, she'd have sung 'Perfect' which was a No1 in 1988. It wasn't the only hit they ever had though. They followed that up with 'Find My Love' which reached No.7 .
