I love that you let the entire song play with your thoughts superimposed. I find that when a reactor constantly stops a video every 15 seconds that they miss the entire vibe of a song and I find it very disconcerting and a disservice to the artist. Thank-you again for a great reaction.

Also to me I know while they editing I know they are listening again and again so they are honest thoughts and not the Typical "OMG... Etc." that comes off as phony to me at times and people pause and jump out their chair. I like people being themselves during reactions and enjoying it thru.

Some people are paying attention to the visuals as well as the craftsmanship of the song and delivery of same. Mr. Anthony is already an accomplished singer-song writer, right out of the gate. American here. Your English is excellent but because of his drawl I believe you missed a lyric that was very important. In the second verse he sings, " I wish politicians would look out for miners and not just for minors on an island somewhere".
Miners are people who dig underground. Minors are boys and girls who are under age. He was referring to Epstein's island. Very cutting poetry! Thank you for for your honest reaction to this anthem.

Yes! I was also sure that he was referring to Jeffrey Epstein's island that so many rich men visited.
His real first name is "Chris". I believe the "Oliver" is from his Grand Dad. Richman is in Virginia, and the rich men north of Richman are the politicians in Washington DC (USA). Most of them live in Virginia. We have a saying "from the heart" that describes his singing and conviction quite well. He is fairly new to us as well as he is brand new. You are very correct calling it a working class anthem.

There are certain songs, certain people that just explode to the world. He is one of them. It is worth taking a second look at his journey. It is rather interesting and unique. From a nobody to having hundreds of millions of views of this one song is not for nothing. I have seen numerous people look at this video and become moved like none I have ever seen before. He is not perfect, but he sure lit a fire under some people.

This was filmed and recorded on his 90 acres of land. He was living in an old camper/ caravane.

I've never said it before, but it's well worth saying... by not stopping the video and commenting in the moment, so much of your emotional response and "in the moment thoughts" will be lost. Humans are incapable of remembering things with accuracy. We're seeing a "sit here" reaction, not a personal one. We can all watch the song/video in full at any point in time, nothing is lost to us by pausing it and expressing what you feel in the moment.

"Holy Moly" Homer’s classic literature The Odyssey mainly deals with the Greek Gods’ interactions with Odysseus and his 20-year-long trip home. He ends up on the island of Circe, a very powerful witch who would turn men into pigs after his crew opens a bag of winds that Aeolus gifted with the hopes of gold and silver in it and a visit to the Laestrygonians. His men were turned into pigs and when Odysseus goes to their aid “Hermes approaches him in the form of a young man”. Hermes gives Odysseus a powerful plant called moly that is “difficult for mortal me to dig up, but the gods are able to do everything”. The ‘holy moly’ protected him from Circe’s spell, but she was completely unaware of its presence so she thought that he had a “mind … which cannot be charmed”.
Then there is also the connection to Jacques De Molay the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar! As the Templars were Knights of God, He was "Holy Molay".
There is also put forth that there is a possible connection to the adulteration of the expression "Holy Mosses" or "Holy Mary" to become Holy Moly.
That being said the Greek reference is the only one directly connected to the word "Moly"

I know it's an old video but as an American, when this song hit, A LOT of people resonated with it. I am not a country music fan by any stretch of the matter but this song is essentially the epitome of what most american guys think/are going through. This is a tough song and when I first heard it, it was relatable and thats what made it so successful. Brilliant use of lyrics. Thanks for reviewing the song, it's nice to see non americans react to this song

Country and western style music is not something I have explored in depth. I must say this gent has a fine voice. The lyrics have a typical country and western style…emotive and akin to story told via music. Very pleasant on the ear…not something I would turn off in a hurry. Great track from a quality artist…given the Sabina treatment. Nicely done once again.

The authenticity is rooted in the fact that he was not a professional musician, but rather a working man living in poverty. It’s not even his microphone. The people from Radio West Virginia came and recorded him at his home. The natural setting is where he lives. That’s his little tree hut in the background.

I do not know if you are aware of the power this song has had. Many millions of people all over the world listened to the emotion of his song and many wept with the words and their meanings. Frustration of government actions and the helpless feelling of inability to change the way it is is everywhere in every country. This guy in a song made an effort to show our feelings. And he hit the nail straight on.
