I just wanted to point out a couple of unique stories about Joe Morgan at 24:02 since these fly by so fast it would be easy to miss.

Great job on this! 1972 was the first year that I really understood baseball, listening to Al Michael’s and Joe Nuxhall on the radio until the postseason games were on TV. This brings back so many memories. I can’t imagine the work that goes into cutting & pasting all of the clippings in synch with the commentary, and then to do it all over again with the background music. Not knowing your world, I’m sure there are layers and layers that I am not even aware of. Just wanted to say thanks - I will watch these again and again!

Wow! Thank you for your kind words. It wasn't easy but it was fun. I hope you enjoy the 1970 and 1976 ones as well.

@@RoundingThird I completely enjoyed the 1970 and 1976 editions as well! Thanks again for putting in all of the work that it took, like I mentioned before. I forwarded the links to several members of family and friends, and I am sure most of them have watched or will watch all of these! Can’t say it enough - thanks for creating these videos. They are great!

I remember Joe Morgan getting that game winning hit in the All-Star game in Atlanta that year. I was 13 years old at the time. I was also a Mets fan and when the Reds came to Shea for a weekend series in September, they swept the series, 8-2, 5-0, and 8-1, and I thought, "Boy, you don't bring your 'A' game when you play these guys, forget it!" Great memories, though. I remember Johnny Bench's homer off Dave Guisti in the playoffs like it was yesterday. Too bad they couldn't get past the A's in the World Series. I rooted for them.

Hated and respected The Big Red Machine as they came to Atlanta and consistently spanked my Braves. Mr. Morgan was the best all around player they had.

Virdon should of used Stennet at shortstop. Alley had 1 hit the whole series and 2 errors in one inning.
Should have kept Stennets bat and speed in the lineup.

    Yeaaa man.
Get Bauer signed and it’s The New Red Machine in The Making.
This yr was a nice stepping stone, we were just getting going and going up Vs Atl. was the last matchup I Wanted for US , even more than the dodgers but they were next, Bravos , Dodgers , Cubs , Padres in that order is the least I was hoping to get.
I like Reds Vs Padres better than Braves and even the Cubs, there’s just that history & the recent history that can give the Cubs too much confidence going in Vs Us @tm in time but after a full season next yr. that will be different.

The Cincinnati Reds obviously got the better of the trade with Houston. Joe Morgan, Cesar Geronimo and Ace Jack Billingham? Those were 3 very important pieces of The Big Red Machine!

Losing to Oakland still irks me, but that magnificent NLCS Game 5.....halcyon days. What a great compilation. So nostalgic. For me, as a kid, I loved everybody on the Big Red Machine, but Johnny Bench was my favorite.
1:17:55 Third base coach Alex Grammas (#2) nearly beat Foster to the plate!

Oakland won 3 world championships in a row … reds thought they were going to sweep them and never respected them to this day

Yes. On the soundtracks there were a bunch of little fillers and transitions like that. I know one was called 'Kirk Puzzled.' I think the part where Pete gets a hit on the intentional walk is from ST too. Those little 10-20 second tracks where a lifesaver when I couldn't find a song that fit the time I needed. Fanfare's are good too. I did the 1990 fountain square celebration in nothing but fanfare. But any time I had the chance, and thought it fit, I made the Pirates the Klingons and the A's the Empire. :)
