I thing that translations of this song represent most important things for each country, for exaple 2nd verse in russian version starts with words "nobody will save us, not a god, not a king and not a hero, but there isn't any hero in german version, there is a tribune, i suppose it is because there wasn't normal parlament in Russia that time, and russians hoped more for the hero, but in Germany was strong parlament and people hoped for it

He helped the greek communist resistance during ww2 and, more cautiously, the greek civil war and he married a member of the albanian communist resistance. His Stalinism survived every clash of faith, from the betrayal of the Greek communists to the formation of the Eastern bloc to the bloodshed in Hungary. He kept faith through it all... Until he visited the Soviet union. He remained there a week and got a real taste for the feeling. Poverty corruption, paranoia and the feeling of utter lack of hope. Mind you that was during the good Kruschev years, not even the height of post-war Stalinism. They paraded him around the land which he described looking like "the war" and gloated about the "triumphs of thee people" when they showed horrificly neglected bridges and railways. The number of beggars and prostitutes was immense and they looked to be down to the ribs starving. He said his tipping point was when, after having to bribe the hotel stuff to get him a room, the patron asked him if he wanted "a girl" for the night. My pops was one of those severe "working class morality" type of communists, so that hit home. They even suggested they had them as young as fourteen. His wife was so shocked by his abrupt change of hurt that she went on a week-long trip for herself, unplanned, shortly after and had a similar experience. He would consistenly describe the following period of disillusionment as the worst period of his life. And he had lived through the Nazi occupation. So yeah, I don't need "propaganda" to know what these regimes were like.

The USSR was founded on good principles but was a complete failure and an embarrassment to Communism and humanity as a whole. We can and should try again, but should never repeat the mistakes of the USSR.

You have images of the first world war and the early Weimar. The main body of the SPD did not adhere to what this song is largely associated with today or anything like what the DDR held to (hell, SPD trad unionists got the soviet bullet under the DDR), so I do not believe that is accurate.
