How freaking cool is that?!! A Transtar International was the truck that Lucky Stores Inc. used for all of its store deliveries in California when I worked for them back in 1979-1992. Off loaded a lot of groceries, dairy, meat and frozen foods back in the day. Thanks for bringing back a cool memory. I swear, someday I would love to have a cab over just to use it for towing a 5th wheel trailer. Total over kill, but it would be super cool.
I don't know if you realize how much some of us absolutely love your videos your love passion and knowledge just glows, I'm a few years older than you, but back in the late 60s and early 70s. My daddy when I was a little boy. Owned a diamond real cab over with a Detroit 238 in it. The second truck he bought was a international transfer too with a 318 in it Both trucks being cab overs I to this day as a retired truck driver absolutely share the same passion of old trucks. Especially cab overs Thank you a ton .❤❤❤❤❤
Great video Mike. Brought back so many memories for me as a lil kid going out in different cab overs. To when I started driving them myself. And yes many a miles in an International cabover.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I’ve been wanting to seek these guys out for years to pick their brains and bask in the Cabover kingdom. I see that green Freightliner SBA all the time and I know I’ve see the red and white IHs with the saying on the top of the cab a few times. Great video and tons of knowledge! I can’t wait to watch part two! Thanks again!
My first truck when I got my license was a '79 White Road Commode. 290 Cummins and a 9 speed, twin screw, Reyco suspension and no brakes on the steer axle,,, yee haa, fun times . Can't wait for part 2... great video Mike
I love listening to truck stories because I always learn things. I see these guys on the road in fact I’m delivering a load of pipe to the traffic signal company in Deerfield Monday. Part 2 tomorrow after breakfast 😂 👍
Rhode Island Saying excellent as usual 👍, Jami Davis would love that wrecker 😅😅 : We are so glad went to the truck show , to see the Tasha truck the same week we lost our Tasha , is beyond Wow ; people can’t believe the videos 😮 Thank You , it was a beautiful morning , John and Mary Lo
Those guys are great guys. Would love to meet them. I bought new international eagle in 1987. Then another one in 1995. Then the one I got now. 2001 9900ix. Still got it. Loved the cruise liner. Loved this video. My kind of guys.
There was a company from Indiana called Artim. They pulled doubles hauling coils of steel from Buffalo n y to Michigan. Ran across Ontario. Back in seventies or eighties. Good old days.
I drove a Marmon like that baby blue one, it had no power steering you almost had to stand up to turn the steering wheel when moving around trailers, it was horrible.
Hey Boston trucker I like watching your RUclips videos and they are very educated and I like the interview with the people that you see that thruck shows and I like the content in the videos
Frickin awesome video's frickin even better cabover's wait frickin awesome people cabover kings 4ife!!! This was super super awesome thank you for sharing with us Mike Gaffin!!!!❤
I loved driving the CL9000 but hated working on them. Very comfortable and great view. We had them with the 400 Cummins and 3406 Cat at United Truck Leasing.
Very cool video, and of course Kenworth Cabovers are still made in Australia ( K220 ) there is a 2 year waiting list for them.... and International cabovers and conventional trucks are still made in New Zealand to this day there are a lot on the road over there...
Am from Jamaica 🇯🇲 and i own and operate a cabover international 9700 and i would surely find you guys and buy one them 9800 cab from you guys! I love cabover trucks
GMC Astro and IH Transtar were the 2 cabovers I ran mostly But I did run F Model Macks once in a while. Gosh, I hated them!!!! (Sorry Cabover Kings!) Great show Mike!
Cabovers were mostly out by the time I started enjoying trucking I am 28 but every time I see one it amazes me how small it is inside and amazes me the engine was legit under your ass!
Yeah, I’m in my 80s load several trucks in the 50s and 60s I lived in Fallon Nevada and there was a bull hole. Are there cattle trucks? I think they were Kenworth but the cab was really really short and above the cab was sleeper so the back of your sheet was the back of the cab, I’ve never seen one or any of these channels. You guys ever seen one like that this guy had a fleet of me had like five or six of them Holland Holland cattle
I've run through Fallon before bipassing Donna Pass heading down 95 to Bishop, beautiful country. Those trucks maximized payload space by having the sleepers above but I wouldn't want to sleep up there.
Poor bastards I can see the back problems now. Hated running cabovers they were junk. Had a belt blow on the side of the road had to change it quick. Had my thermos on the bunk and damn thing blew out my front window. Yeah they are cool but honestly garbage too.
Those guys are great guys. Would love to meet them. I bought new international eagle in 1987. Then another one in 1995. Then the one I got now. 2001 9900ix. Still got it. Loved the cruise liner. Loved this video. My kind of guys.

That GMC ASTRO was my favorite, geez what a nice truck,
Great video Mike. Brought back so many memories for me as a lil kid going out in different cab overs. To when I started driving them myself. And yes many a miles in an International cabover.

I had a new Astro in 1982 with a 300 Cummins. When you guys mentioned that. Brought back memories
First cabover I bought was a 1969 w model ford. Then a new Astro in 1978. 290 Cummins. Brand new 36,000. Just a plain truck. Great show Boston.
Definately 2 of of your best videos, cant make my mind up which i prefer out of these two or the D'agostini videos.
I did not miss 1 second of this video. Watch them all, thanks.❤
Appreciate you watching!
I started my career driving a Cabover, great video Mike.👍👍
Thanks, they’re still some of the best trucks on the road.
@@TheBostonTrucker I agree Mike great video👍👍
These two videos are excellent! Russell was extremely influential and me getting my Freightliner and helping me get it all sorted out
Great guy! 👍
It's unusual to see so many Internationals with caterpillar engines!
You know Troy Link would always remark about how well his orange COE rode
My first truck when I got my license was a '79 White Road Commode. 290 Cummins and a 9 speed, twin screw, Reyco suspension and no brakes on the steer axle,,, yee haa, fun times . Can't wait for part 2... great video Mike
That’s a classic rig!
Drove a Road Commode once to return it to a rental company in Dallas from Chattanooga, TN and it was the roughest ride I ever had.
Cool guys who really knows some history on their equipment.
Respect 👍

What a gold mine of cabovets!!!
I drove a Marmon like that baby blue one, it had no power steering you almost had to stand up to turn the steering wheel when moving around trailers, it was horrible.
Wow that's crazy!
That cab over Mack is the first truck that my dad turned me loose in on the big road 😊
Excellent entertainment Mike, great job.

I also saw their website. And im glad to actually see the collection of old beauties on video. It'd be better in the flesh but I can't teleport yet.
Those guys are very passionate about trucking...outstanding
Frickin awesome video's frickin even better cabover's wait frickin awesome people cabover kings 4ife!!! This was super super awesome thank you for sharing with us Mike Gaffin!!!!❤
Do they sell trucks? Or just collect. I used to run a k- 100. Loved it.
not really
I started my truck driving career in C.O.E....YES, they were rough driving but sightlines were perfect !!! I need to get myself one before retirement
They really do have the best sightlines 😂
Small world, I know of those two guys from the deerfield fair. Russ did tractor pulling in our antique tractor club about a month ago, very nice guy!
I loved driving the CL9000 but hated working on them. Very comfortable and great view. We had them with the 400 Cummins and 3406 Cat at United Truck Leasing.
Sounds like you had some good memories with that brand truck!
@@TheBostonTrucker We had a lot of Ford CL, LT, LNT and LTL 9000's I got my CDL driving and LNT 9000. I liked working on the Fords and Pete's.
I think that custom sleeper company that converted the astro. Cab over sleepers was called R. E! Sleepers.
Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Mike great interviews and coverage of some great COEs. What boots are you sporting, are they Brunt Marins?
Hisea Boots thank you
I agree with him on 87 was not the last year for gmc big trucks. I owned a 88 gmc general. So 87 was not the last year like most people claim.
Very cool video, and of course Kenworth Cabovers are still made in Australia ( K220 ) there is a 2 year waiting list for them.... and International cabovers and conventional trucks are still made in New Zealand to this day there are a lot on the road over there...
That's awesome that the production is still going strong!
Nothing better than the smell of old iron diesel
thank that guys for saving them !
Mike go find Barbie and do an interview with her, I would love to hear her stories and about more about the 359 Pete

But I did run F Model Macks once in a while. Gosh, I hated them!!!! (Sorry Cabover Kings!) Great show Mike!
