If you're having trouble hearing the questions, I did my best to transcribe them. I paraphrased some of these, and I know I'm probably mishearing some of them, so take it with a grain of salt.
1. In terms of the character of Darrow, when you were writing the character, did you base him on any historical figure? Or have you, since writing the character of Darrow, thought that of a character of Darrow that would fit him, like Marcus Aurelius?
2. Who is your funnest character to write, and why is it [Golden Son] Victra?
3. When you were writing Dark Age, did you have second thoughts about [something] with Alex, or any other characters, where you thought “I wish I would’ve done and changed ‘this’ or ‘that’”?
4. Is there any inkling of an update for visual media, TV show?
5. Depending on what happens with [Dark Age] Darrow, would you consider continuing the saga with [Dark Age] Pax?
6. You spoke a little bit about how [something]typical these [something] Book 6, can you talk about your process going into Book 7?
7. Do you have any must-read books that you can recommend, whether it is pure enjoyment, or something that has shaped you as a writer?
8. In most stories, they go off of the character finding a love interest near the end of the story, but you had Darrow start off with one. What made you decide to start off with a love interest as opposed to searching for it?
9. Out of all of the books you’ve written in Red Rising, which has been your favorite to write?
10. I read it when I was in a really dark place, it helped me, it was so good [stuff like that]… What do you think about my Ragnar tattoo?
Really hoping for a moving picture adaption of the series. Battle of Mercury will be a highlight, no doubt.
Shortly after Pierce's first book was released, I remember reading an article praising the volume. The Hunger Games series was in the middle of its movie run and the article compared Red Rising and said it was going to be the next great YA series of a similar vibe.
I decided to check out Red Rising and I realized the article was soooo wrong. Despite being his first novel, Pierce's Red Rising was better and the series has steadily gotten better with every book. Despite the characters starting young, the series is definitely not YA.
Red Rising is, by far, my favorite sci-fi series ever and may be my favorite series of any kind. I can't wait for this next installment and I will now have to read everything Pierce writes forever.
Lastly, no one can truely know what torture is unless you've read Golden Son shortly after release and can't immediately begin Morning Star.
OMG… the torture from Golden Son to Morning Star was brutal. Not even TV shows has extracted that kind of emotion from me. Well said. I absolutely CANNOT wait for Light Bringer!
Torture is having to wait for light bringer after dark age
Coming out in May 2023 :( pls come sooner I'm so hyped 😀
Yesssss more focused on Darrow, perfect
This is great! Thanks for posting
Love it! Q&A sucks though. There either needs to be a mic, or someone with a mic to repeat the question.
I need to read Lightbringer! Its been way to long and the way Dark Age ended was so rough I need some hope!
Oh no, im in the late stages of Dark Ages right now. And with the way golden son ended im nervous for the ending of Dark Age. I've enjoyed the book so much though
@@striveprosper295 Na the ending isn't even that bad lol. Assuming you've read it now as the comment was a month ago.
It's not that bad lmao.
SPOILERS: Darrow escapes and lives when he realistically should've died and got away with some pretty strong plot armour. Mustang escapes. Sevro and Victra are still alive. Ephraim gets a sick charachter arc and ending. Cassius is back and fighting for the rising. Lyria basically has super-powers. The worst thing that happened was the rising lost Mercury and Earth (and Luna) but that was inevitable otherwise why would there be a new trilogy - they were always gonna have to lose some battles for inevitable victory lol.
@@LiveCustoms yea, ive read it, i had no problem with it. I have a new found hate for lysandre though
@@LiveCustoms stop throwing around the term plot armor
THE LADS LOVE PIERCE. AWOOOOOO
Pierce Brown is the GOAT!
damn i would love to play risk with pierce brown
The title of the 7th book makes me hopeful in the end Darrow finally gets the ending he deserves and beats Lysander.
Lysander is far more of a better leader then Darrow 😂
@@daydreamsp hahah no he's not, Lysander is in the position because he thinks his blood is somehow making him a good leader.. leaders aren't formed by blood they are formed by their actions and Lysander's actions are hypocritical at best much more than Darrow's
@@daydreamsp hes constantly contradicting his morals and actually starts to believe his own circle jerk but yeah sure
@@daydreamspyou really have no comprehension skills if you think Lysander is a better leader than Darrow.
Wish someone would repeated the question in a mic….
I think live action is too much of a hassle, you need a big studio behind you with a lot of funding, and Pierce wants an R rating which will be difficult, HBO would be the best place for this kind of thing or maybe Prime, they both don't shy away from R rated shows and have a lot of funding, but then there's filming, editing and reshoots, it will take forever. I also believe just because of the nature of the book and series it wouldn't translate well over to live action, the scope of it alone would be insane and anything other than Marvel lvl cgi would look just cheap, how also are we going to show Darrow's inner thoughts and even just the changes in gravity.
The best option would be to go animated, not anime but something along the lines of Invincible or Vox Machina, Amazon would likely be a good fit and there's some absolutely amazing voice actors out there that would be really good for the show, I really really hope they go animated, I just think it will improve the overall product that we get
NETFLIX. It belongs on NF. Netflix will make it adult but without the sophomoric leanings of HBO. They won't allow cheap shocks like HBO did with GOT. Although I think that Pierce will be much more involved, he seems to want to aim for his work to be treated well. As opposed to Martin who just wants money and fame.
That intro response was teeeeeepid 😳
Looking forward to the conclusion of this, now, heptalogy
