Emir and Company, I could use some real world 4runner advice. My fam is considering nabbing one of these final 5th gens. Narrowed it down to the Offroad Premium, Offroad Premium with KDSS, or the TRDPro. Resale value is meaningful, though we do keep vehicles for the long term. Mostly on-road and light trail performance prioritized. No major offroading or modification intended at this time (perhaps mods in future), but we like to have serious get-out-of-a-jam capability just in case. How would you rate these three options?
Happy to help, did you watch my 4runner series? Your questions may be answered from that video series. How important is on road comfort for you? OffRoad Premium - If you plan on doing a suspension mod soon, then get the Offroad Premium. The suspension mod will make the ride quality good enough you don't need KDSS. OffRoad Premium w/KDSS - If on road comfort is very important to you and you don't plan on doing extensive off-road suspension mods, then I would get KDSS. TRDPro - TRDPro only if you genuinely want the TRDPro. In my opinion I don't think it's worth getting because you can pretty much turn any 4Runner into the TRDPro with the correct modifications. I understand resale value is meaningful, but that is only true for the TRDPro today. None of us can predict how the resale value will look like in 5+ years. As long as you have 4WD and know how to use the A-TRAC feature you will have your "get out of a jam" capability with all 3 options. The TRDPro is not a better off roader than the OffRoad Trim Type In your shoes, I'd probably save some money and get the OffRoad Premium and upgrade the suspension system. Or if you want much better ride quality, then I would get the KDSS. I suggest you test drive both options and see if you really want the KDSS.
Made in Japan is the most important question. The Land Cruiser J250 will be made in Japan so hopefully the new 4Runner will be. You mention only 2 rows of seats and that is also true for the land cruiser, it will only be 2 rows.

TRD Pro has best resale value. The TRD Off Premium with KDSS is a much better road vehicle yet retains the off road features.
@@thesilveremir Thanks for your detailed response! I'll check out your 4R series
@@NorthweSteelheadJunkies appreciate it!
Looking forward to the 100K mile “lessons learned” video of the 5th gen!

Very unlikely that the 6th gen 4runner will not be made in Japan and will likely share the drive train of the LC250.
Call it the 5 runner at least
